EDIT: And I didn't know Inspector Gregson is a mole. He's actually a thug just like them! Despicable. So that's why he's so dour all the time.

Well, he denied that he was there at all. But we connected him to the pawnbroker using the bloodied music disk.

We did another stereoscopy thing which was really hard to notice when most of the things stayed the same, but thankfully we could use the portable stereoscope whatsit to do it.

And now...we need to prove that whatever McGilded had left in the pawnbroker's was important enough...so that means we need to have Gina testify and admit her perjury. Thankfully...she trusts us.

Damn the inspector is whispering something to Grayson. I don't like this. Are you in cahoots? I'll have Iris write 'Gregson is a big sussy baka' in the next Sholmes story, I'll let you know!

Then the little box arrived and it's...a music box?!

And with that revelation, let's review those outstanding questions from yesterday...

Okay, so there are a lot of mysteries left:

What is the significance of the music disc hidden inside his overcoat?
It's probably government secret or some such. Thrice-Fired Mason had acquired/produced it and McGilded wanted to buy it but the negotiation fell through so McGilded killed him.

Who was "Eggert Benedict" and why did he try to retrieve the music disc?
Either a government intelligence agent or a foreign spy.

What was inside the small box McGilded deposited?
It's a music box. Or rather, a morse box.

Why did the thugs break into the box inside the storage room but left without taking the Hound of Baskervilles script?
Pop Windibank opened the box to see Gina, who was insistent on seeing it to see if Sholmes really lied or not.

How did Susato figure out the full title of the unreleased script?
Telepathy.

Why did Sholmes forbid Iris from publishing the script? (I'd guess it's because there's sensitive information within the script that would put Iris in danger)
It had too many typos.

How did the thugs (presumably) commit Mr. Windibank' murder and made it into a locked room? (Some early guesses include finding a way to lock the room from the outside, or they left through the space under the floor, or Mr. Windibank/Gina locked themself inside the room and the culprit shot Windibank through the peep hole)
It's probably Grayson who fired the exact gun instead. Gina was the one who locked the room.

What is the 'bigger case' that the Yard is pursuing?
Government secrets being leaked.

What does Susato's telegram really say?
'Hi bby girl a/sl/?'

So...we have Graydon on a corner, kinda. He can't deny that he was there that night. But the little minx switched his tune and said he witnessed Gina shooting the victim! What a load of crock!

He even mentioned he saw the blood splattered onto the overcoat...yeesh.

So we had to present the portal gun first. Geez. That doesn't really follow a good logical path but ok.

Anyway, we pushed Graymon to admit his perjury but he's still denying all murder allegations. Gregson, who conspired to get the second disc from Graymon, insisted he was doing it to serve the nation...the nation of EVIL maybe.

Still, we need a hard evidence to prove either the murder or the transaction...do we really even have something like that...time to take another look at the CR.

I like how it's foreshadowed. You see her wiping away her tears with her eyes obscured a couple times when Ryunosuke tells her about trust during the case and after you've secured her freedom and kept your promise she openly cries happily in front of you. I think it's the only instance where they build up to it which makes it stand out.

Yeah, actually I liked her wiping her tears a lot. Poor girl, she's been through a lot.

So, anyway...
We bid good bye to Susato (I'm quite surprised, I thought she'd stay for some reason!) and...more questions left than what we began with.

But all is well...for now!

So, overall thoughts:
It was quite good! Phoenicius is pretty likeable, though not outstandingly so, but I'm glad we could see his grow from a student into a lawyer and the circumstances around it. Susato is lovely, a very steadfast and reassuring assistant but with a lovable geeky side to her.

Kazuma really made an impression too for what little showtime he had. He filled the role really well.

Sholmes is... entertaining at times, but I'm not too big on his comedy antics. It's okay. Iris is not as unlikeable as I feared her to be. She's also okay. Though I'm still iffy at her needless child prodigy status, especially the doctorate in medicine...it never even really came to play. They could've just made her an enthusiastic tinkerer/gadgeteer and I would've rolled with that just fine.

The new system is quite good. Deduction is pretty fun. The more than one witness that they brought back from PL vs. AA made for more varied court proceedings, as did the jury system.

Overall, the game is pretty easy though. I was never really stuck by any of the tricks and more by the usual AA logic gates. Though OTOH the game flowed well, so I'm not complaining too much.

The presentation is gorgeous. I really like the setting and the design of the characters are mostly great. It feels great playing AA on a TV. The music is lovely. Though Phoenicius's Objection! feels a bit...weak.

I do like Van Zieks. He's just a menacing prosecutor with a fair sense of justice without being overly sadistic or friendly.

Sadly, the breakdowns are nothing to write home about. They're really weak. The best one was probably Jezeille's and even that could've been better.

Also the game feels very much like a set up. There are still too many things unresolved, like the list of four names, Hound of Baskervilles, Jezaille's motive, and Iris not knowing his dad's fate. I heard TGAA2 is much better so I'm looking forward to that.

To end on a positive note (and since I forgot to mention it earlier), the translation is top notch. It's really fun reading the different accents and affectations, as well as the choice of words. Love it.
