Lestrade is indeed one of the Scotland Yard inspectors in the stories. His first name is never revealed, for some reason, just that his first initial is G. So I guess they took this opportunity to make a female version!

Ah, I see. And a street urchin, no less!

Anyway, here we go - the Adventure of the Traveling Kokoro

We get a new case. Thankfully this time we have one day to prepare for the trial. And the prosecutor on duty is none other than our educated friend, Baron von Wicks!

We met a new person, an officer of the Scotland Yard - Gregson. Another Sherlockian reference, I assume. He's eating fish and chips. Mmm...

Next, we go to the prison to see the defendant. Seems like he's Japanese. And he's...Soseki Natsume?! Like, the real life novelist? The one who wrote 'I Am a Cat'? Fun.

Also seems like he's making katakana shapes with his body, but since it's English it doesn't really translate 1:1, they kept the alliteration in the dialogue though.

Iris being a doctor of medicine at 10 (at least, since she seems to have been writing the stories for a while) is still iffy for me. :(

But she's a better detective than Sholmes at least!

Ah, of course.

Man, if these were all Agatha Christie references instead I'm sure i would've gotten many of them, but I digress.

So we saw Natsume's room and it's dark, miserable, smells like musty books and cat poop, and doesn't have a window because of window tax, supposedly.

And now Sholmes is here and he did his deduction...that the carpet was gnawed on by an Asiatic lion! Wow, what a total nonsense. This is great.

Before going into the Course Correction, I'd say the thing they're hiding is...the cannon? And they walled the other windows so the tenants won't see that they've been shooting cannons at...something. Maybe Garrideb actually misses his time in the war?

Then, we also saw that the exterior of the building has suffered considerable blunt damage. Did they have someone to play wargames with real cannon balls back and forth across the street?

And now... we're back in the court room. And it seems that they're implying...Mrs. Garrkdeb could have thrown the knife from the second floor and it pierced that poor lady in the back?! Really? That's kinda pushing it if that's really what happens...

LMAO my bad, Pat got to me.

Cute how they used the same pun with that fan patch of AAI2 for Patricia Roland.

Anyway, Roly admitted to it. Poor guy, he only wanted to enjoy one day with his wife. And she thankfully chose to share the blame.

And now they are dismissed. And we call the next witness, one Mrs. Joan Garrideb, to the stand!

It's actually pretty cool how Von Ziecks actually doesn't only pursue to throw the defendant in jail at all costs and seems interested in finding the truth. He's sinister (and have a penchant for the dramatics) but not quite evil. At least that we know of.

It also has a pun that's lost in translation. "Gari" means flesh and bones, while "debu" is fat, which describes both John and Joan. There's another thing where John's name is and Joan's name is , which is just John's name with a prolonged sound mark, also referencing Joan's build. Probably should've changed John's name to Jon to better represent that, but then the Holmes reference is kind of lost.

Onwards to Chapter 5 - The Hound of Baskervilles. Will we get a deceptively large dog as a suspect? Probably!

We got a telegram but Susato is being very secretive about it...maybe it was announcing Soseki's death? If it is, Von Ziecks is Final Destination-level threat.

They named the cat Wagahai after Soseki's seminal work Wagahai wa Neko de Aru (I Am a Cat), and Wagahai is an old way of saying 'I'. Cute.

Oh this downtrodden Sholmes is much more palatable. But what is weighing on his mind?

I sure hope so too!

We figured out that McGilded was a jerk and blackmailed Gina to do his bidding (and bribed the coachman to do so too).
He deposited a small box three days before the wagon case and his overcoat on the day of the case.

Okay, so there are a lot of mysteries left:
  1. What is the significance of the music disc hidden inside his overcoat?
  2. Who was "Eggert Benedict" and why did he try to retrieve the music disc?
  3. What was inside the small box McGilded deposited?
  4. Why did the thugs break into the box inside the storage room but left without taking the Hound of Baskervilles script?
  5. How did Susato figure out the full title of the unreleased script?
  6. Why did Sholmes forbid Iris from publishing the script? (I'd guess it's because there's sensitive information within the script that would put Iris in danger)
  7. How did the thugs (presumably) commit Mr. Windibank' murder and made it into a locked room? (Some early guesses include finding a way to lock the room from the outside, or they left through the space under the floor, or Mr. Windibank/Gina locked themself inside the room and the culprit shot Windibank through the peep hole)
  8. What is the 'bigger case' that the Yard is pursuing?
  9. What does Susato's telegram really say?

Also, I'm totally stuck at this investigation segment...seems like I'm missing something from Gregson's dialogue but I don't know what. Ugh.

There's nobody at Chief Justice Office, the hospital, the prison, Sholmes's Suite, or our legal office.

I've checked everything at Baker Street, the main shop, and the storeroom.

I've checked all evidence in the court record multiple times and I've presented everything I have to both Iris and Gregson. I even rechecked and rechoose things that have been marked with a blue tick. WTF did I miss?

I still think it's immensely silly to have trophies in a game that's mostly a visual novel with no story branches like this.

Anyway, we're currently trying to convince Gina to let us defend her in the trial. She's being difficult as usual. Oh well, I'm looking forward to seeing her cry cute sprite.

I have to say though, the translators did great work here. It's very fun seeing how these characters talk. I also encountered many new, and often antiquated, words. Though sometimes it makes it hard to understand, but not very much so.
