I figure making a topic where you can avoid spoilers while asking questions, discussing theories, characters and puns would be good for all of us jumping in. The game released today and is out on all the platforms besides Xbox because I read the trilogy only sold like 2k on there so sorry Xbros.

What is The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles?

The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles is Shu Takumi, the creator of the series new interesting take on the franchise. Set roughly 100 years before Phoenix's story begins you play as Ryunosuke Naruhado, an ancestor to Phoenix currently in Japanese Law School. You get two full fledged games that were never brought to America.

Does it feature dual audio?

Yes, it features dual audio (English/Japanese) on all platforms it is available on.

What resolution does it run on the Nintendo Switch?

It runs at 1080p docked, 720p handheld. The visual quality besides the resolution is roughly the same on both handheld and docked. This is not a shoddy port.

Does it come with the DLC that was in the Japanese version?

It comes with alternative costumes and special episodes that were DLC in the Japanese 3DS releases at no additional fee.

And for the same price as it would have been if it was released at the 3DS. As a fan the value in this game is freaking incredible and makes me forgive how long it took to get here (Seems like it was genuine hell from a localization and copyright standpoint)

I've been really trying to figure out the pun for Japanese Payne and the only thing I cam come up with is Auchi is meant to be "Ouchie" which fits his previous naming conventions I don't know Japanese so if it's a specific pun on that I don't get it!

Yeah I had to resist turning that on given the first case seems to drag on interminably.

I mean, I get they wanted to add extra twists to it, but the constant cuts to Ryunosuke and Kazuma discussing and re-discussing their resolve, the witness mocking the room, and Auchi just being absolutely pointless over and over again.

It's the classic "I figured it out well ahead of everyone else" that AA is so famous for. As soon as I saw the steak plate with no blood I'm like "oh it's the other plate that the sergeant had", yet we had to go for another HOUR of normally flowing dialogue to drag ourselves there.

If I start getting that feeling again I'm just going to turn on text skip. At least there's a History button if you accidentally skip past something.

I just beat G1-2 and spoilers/thoughts for the entire case:

Man an entire case that's just 1 really long investigation! I actually kind of expected that given the setting and didn't even mind because the new Dance of Deduction mechanic is so god damn fun and Herlock Sholmes is already a classic character to me. I love all his animations and how expressive he is and he had me laughing the entire time he was on the screen and I was happy to see the detective again from the first case since he's such a bro. I figured out the case pretty much exactly by the beginning of the second part since I usually sit down and look through the evidence after each part and as soon as I saw the milk saucer in Nikola's room it made everything Kazuma wrote in his diary make sense but I couldn't figure out quite how he got murdered by a 15 year old ballerina or quite why she would do it and they threw a major wrench in my logic as soon as the snake came into play but as soon as it was figured to be a red harring I felt confident again. It was a pretty sad death all around since I really liked his character in the first case but mentors just can't catch a break in this series unless you're Phoenix Wright yourself and I actually did feel bad for her given all her circumstances so I felt a lot like Misato at the end, just frustrated and mad he was just robbed. It was a great story and makes me excited for the other investigations in these two games because of how fun the Dance was.

Holy shit I loved the Russian girl, felt so bad for her and was hoping to see her again. But the smoke grenade just went off in case 3 and I can tell the person standing at the stand is her. McGilded is talking now. Fuck girl what did you do

I think G1-2 was quite bold.

When else in the series has it ever been just a silly series of mishaps? Just an unfortunate accident where no one bore any true malicious intent? Sometimes life just takes from us and it's cruel. That's pretty heavy for the Ace Attorney series.

Just finished G1-3 and spoilers for the entire case:

Jesus this game is not holding back on the dark outcomes. I noticed the bloodstain was there but I kind of ignored it and thought I might have missed it. Then it turns out that he actually ended up doing it making him yet another guilty defendant... But you still get the not guilty verdict because this court is corrupt as fuck. I am loving the tone of this game and I feel Shu decided to go a darker tone to give it some distinction. I'm so excited to see the next 2 cases! I hope they are both full ones, though, well, they have been long just one really long investigation and one really long court battle so far.

G1-4 spoilers (Very beginning of the case):

Oh my fucking god this is a cool twist on the "Prosecutor always wins" stuff that always happens. They're damned, as in, they are actually damned, either way. He doesn't have a perfect record. I love this and it's such an interesting take and it's already getting me to think that this will tie heavily into case 5 (since I dunno if he's the prosecutor in the next game or not) so shit. This has to be one of the huge plot points of the game.

Dude the first case went on FOREVER. Fuck that.

I sat down to play it before he's last night at like 11pm thinking it was going to be like every other Ace attorney game, where the first trial takes like 30 to 40 minutes.

Didn't get to bed til 2am. I was pissed lol.

(I know I could have stopped at any time, but going based off of older games, at almost every point of trial, I thought I was about to be finished finally, but it just kept goooing...)

Yeah as much as I love this game in particular, that was probably the worst first case in the series because of the continued contrived extensions. Like, save those for a later case, like Turnabout Ablaze.

Specifically in G1-1, the point where Brett breaks the bottle after you reach the "Aha!" moment of him getting poisoned from the dental work. That was really fucking unnecessary. It tacked an extra hour or so onto the trial, only for you to arrive at the exact same conclusion.

Please tell me they are going to mention the fact that half the jurors are people we know already. Dont tell me they just dont notice. I just started the case and am done for the night but that bugged me that they didnt even mention it
