Finally beat AAI2, now I can move on to this game (yes I know the two games have nothing to do with each other but still, I just wanted to finish that one before starting this one) and damn, I did not expect the main villain to be that person lol

I just started playing the first game and I had to basically stop, it's just way too damn creepy how the main character eyes just wonders off during court like that

They drove me nuts, only because the court repeatedly let them get away with so much shit. Like, seriously, we're supposed to think 1800s Edgeworth is scary, but he's such a pushover with these brats.

Just finished 1-4 and while it was solid, I think its a perfect example of something that annoys me about this series in general.

I pieced together the whole thing about the victim bending down to pick up the book and getting hit by the knife way before the characters in game did. Its kinda annoying when youve already figured out the twist and you just have to wait for the game to catch up.

After simmering on it for a bit, I think this is about as good as Ace Attorney has been. It was pretty obvious Mael Stronghart was going to be the antagonist but a lot of the twists and turns it took to get there really threw me for a loop. The payoff was sublime.

The writing has really improved over the past entries and I really hope this means we can get a spinoff series with these characters. So fucking good.

started 1-5 last night and i can't help but wonder how gina was able to get the overcoat from the pawnbrokers if she didn't know the password. i'm guessing maybe she knew it somehow but failed to bring it up during thr argument.

i like van zieks as a character so far. it's nice to go against a prosecutor that doesn't hate the main character for some reason, or isn't over-eccentric.

I think Capcom is working on AA7 now but I'd like to see a GAA3 set a few years down the line maybe.

Spoilers for entire duology:
Would be nice to see some of these characters return, have a chance to do some summation examinations for more than 3 cases in a game, maybe give Kazuma another case or two to prosecute. Bring back Gorey as a witness a few times.

Hopefully Gina is the first victim though lol don't wanna see her for a full game again

I disliked Gina at first too, didn't even trust her when she was the defendant but she was great in the 2nd game wtf.

Honestly I think what we got as an alternative for "hate a particular individual" is much worse. >_>

And Klavier Gavin and Simon Blackquill never had such a part of their characters. One could even say Nahyuta never really had that.

i mean, fair enough for blackquill, he didn't hate any protagonist, but he was still very brazen in the way he presented himself. klavier i felt like didn't like apollo but tolerated him. nahyuta changed by the end of the game or at least stopped hiding his true feelings, but he was definitely more hostile than zieks.

mainly i'm just glad my main characters isn't getting whipped, cut at, or having cups of coffee thrown at them any more.

This, more or less. There's only so much suspension of disbelief I can muster for an Ace Attorney game. Having a character that repeatedly assaults people in the court, including the fucking judge himself, is too far. Or at least when it happens over and over again, for multiple characters.... Yeah.

as soon as I saw the apprentice I knew he was Kazuma, and now Im at the stage where Susato is back and talking about his body being missing. Fucking knew it!! My wife said I was crazy but I knew it. Well, I mean I could still be wrong, so please no spoilers but if Im right Im gonna be so chuffed.

Finished Case 2-2
I think it was a great case the way it had two culprits in the end. I didn't know how it was going to end with Shamspeare. I was thinking it would end with Olive being arrested but Shamspeare, a serial killer, walking free and then causing trouble in a future case, but I'm happy with how it was resolved.

I was worried at first that they would turn Susato into the usual bumbling protagonist like Ryunosuke, especially after how level headed, smart, and collected she's always been. But fortunately that didn't end up being an issue. Not a fan of Brett being killed right off the bat though.

On case 2-3 now and In the span of 15-20 minutes of each other, I'm presented with INSPECTOR Gina AND a cute witch. I've got a good feeling about this case.

Yep, she got accustomed to doing things like slamming the desk even faster than Ryunosuke did! But she is still not a licensed lawyer, this being her first time, and is hiding her true gender to boot so her being nervous and even slamming into the wall makes sense to me.

And yep, I was thinking of you when going through that case lol.

yeah, its actually one very long story split over two cases. The final chapter is glorious and wraps everything up

it does go on for way too long though.

I'm a bit into the trial now. Heavy G2-5/whole game spoilers:

I'm second-guessing myself despite evidence pointing towards my theories.

My assumption during case 4 was that Jigoku was the killer. The steamship ticket being in evidence, along with the photo of the group including Jigoku's trunk being visible, and his somewhat suspicious movements, had me really suspecting him. But I got to the point where Herlock & Mikotaba catch him on the ship, and I feel like it's a bit too early to have the killer be this overtly obvious. He's definitely heavily involved in the case, but I'm second guessing if he's the killer or not just by virtue of how quickly into case 5 it came up.

And, tbh, it's hard to ignore just how fishy Stronghart has been across both games. I haven't found a precise connection between him and the current case just yet, but I'm just kind of waiting for a strong link to appear because I'll be stunned if that suspicious dude makes it out of these games without being guilty of something. He's felt like a really obvious 'final boss' since he was introduced and it's hard to overlook that, even as other characters start to appear to be more suspicious.

Theres a really annoying part in the game where the correct evidence to present is the steam boat ticket that clearly says black bird on the image. But its only referred to as the Grouse during the trial before you present evidence saying the grouse is the steam ship. The description of the ticket also calls it the Grouse but the ticket becomes forgotten by it time its required that I didnt think to check it again.

Ah, that pissed me off! The description really should have updated after you check it to show the ship's name, not just that it's a ticket.

How on Earth am I expected to remember the damn name when it isn't visible in the court record?

Finished both games!

Ive always been a huge Ace Attorney fan so I was super excited to play these. And they were great! Not as good as the original trilogy, but better than the second trilogy. Overall I liked it. Van Zieks is honestly my favourite prosecutor I think.

As some people here have said, there are some problems, and I do have some minor complaints.

Full spoilers for both games

The amnesia thing was stupid. Its cheesy, it doesnt really work like that, and it would have been more interesting and worked just as well without it. Just have Kazuma have a bit more of a dark streak or whatever. Have him do the same things but memory intact. Also, definitely got fed up with too many plot points being dismissed because the plot demanded it wasnt the right time yet, so Susato and especially Sholmes just belligerently refuse to explain anything and wave you away. It happened a few too many times.

Just started playing this, and I understand it's because of the game's setting but I'm not a fan of the characters always talking in old english. Way too damn annoying to read through all of that all the time. Luckily the main characters (for the most part) don't talk like this. But still

I dont think its old English so much as depicting thick cockney accents and whatnot.
