so, the guy took a bunch of pills and told his girlfriend he was trying to kill himself, so she called 911 and they took him to the police station (instead of the hospital for some reason). In the station hes cuffed and a fight breaks out. One cop claims hes trying to grab his gun, hes eventually held down by multiple officers, this cop comes in, says youre about to die, my friend then shoots him point blank.

he was handcuffed and had allegedly taken several unknown pills, was clearly intoxicated as a result. Either way, when he was shot he was already being held down and subdued. they had complete control of the situation.

I understand your frustration, but all cops aren't though. We need good cops in this world or it's gonna be mad max and imo, more corruption. Who's gonna be there in a physical dispute, or when you get burgalized or get into an accident? They can also save lives

We need to weed out the bad ones like the guy in the video and not attack the police forced as a whole.

West Valley Citys incident review committee determined Longman didnt violate policy, and hes back on duty after being on administrative leave, which is standard protocol after a police shooting. His actions are also defended by Utahs Fraternal Order of Police.

This is why the entire force deserves blame, btw.

Because murdering a handcuffed man is considered "acceptable" by them.

The video shows that Breinholt asked officers to take him to the Huntsman Mental Health Institute, known as UNI, but the officers refused.

A mentally unwell person wanted help. They literally asked for help.

Cops didn't want to help.

So we supposed to wait for one person to get beaten by half an inch of their life by an abusive person.. hell it could end in murder for the victim.. even if it does end before the cops show up, we can get that person apprehended. what if your school, home or job was literally getting broken into from criminals with weapons? Armed robbery or worse, someone actually trying to kill you. How do you know the robbers won't kill you or take you hostage and kill you later if they don't get what they want? You got time to call the cops to come to your aid.

Abolishing the police ain't gonna do shit in the long run but make people try to fend for themselves and it could end up with more corruption and possibly death with an surge of gangs/cartels.

What we need is a MASSIVE police reform. Stricter background checks with no history of violence for police officers, actual training on properly de-escalating situations without using violencr, race sensitivity, and strict accountability for rogue officers that show signs of racism and discrimination, as well as injure or murder citizens with no justifiable cause.

Look, I don't doubt that you may have personally had a bad experience with police yourself. But I know plenty of good cops, and as long as there are those out there, then we can't give up hope on law enforcement, and we will make a change for the better by voting.

This is actually what I agree with, and what most people actually mean when they want our current police system abolished.

They don't mean "Get rid of police and then do nothing", they mean "Start again from the ground up". That requires metaphorically burning the current system to the ground. Because currently?

A lot of cops are the domestic abusers. Police also have a horrible track record when it comes to minorities, so if you're one of those suffering domestic abuse...

There have been people who successfully stopped a gunman and subdued them while calling the police to arrest the would be shooter.

....Only for that person to be killed themselves despite the crowd of people telling the cop that the person subduing the shooter isn't the bad guy .

And at no point is someone with a gun preferred over someone with the proper training in the medical field when it comes to dealing with suicidal people who need help.

The point is we need good cops sure, but the requirement for that is starting over. There's no "fixing from within" something designed like the current system.
