Rocket and Galactic are a bunch of losers, especially the grunts, so that can't be fun. Aqua and Magma all have a pretty cool get-up, decent basic Pokemon and the chicks are hot, but the ideology is pretty silly. Plasma doesn't have great Pokmon but ideologically you could probably get behind them pretty well. I don't remember Flare and haven't played SM/SS so can't judge on those. Cipher is just kinda gross.

Team Skull probably has the easiest path to promotion, considering they're dumb even by Pokemon villain standards. If you have two brain cells to rub together, you could probably end up as an admin just by showing up.

Aqua: Environmentalists who want to expand the ocean. And almost drown the world by mistake via Kyogre

Magma: Environmentalists who want to expand the land mass of the world. And almost cause world ending droughts by mistake via Groudon.

Galactic: Recreation of the universe.

Plasma: Liberate Pokemon from humans. Except that's a lie and Gehtsis just wants Pokemon to be under only his control so its easier to rule Unova.

Flare: Make the world beautiful again. By genociding anyone that isn't them.

Skull: Survival, and I guess be delinquents.

ok going to go overly serious depth here

i've actually given a lot of thought to this topic in general before, though more broadly "realistically where would i wind up if i was in the pokemon universe?" I think the answer is very likely in team aqua in some capacity

i'm very susceptible to being dragged into weird cults of insane ideologies, I'm just very easily manipulated, and open to a lot of unusual "information" uncritically to a degree i shouldn't be. It's happened to me numerous times over the years honestly; and I recently escaped a situation i'd say was along those lines, which made me think about this a lot

but the reasons i think i'd realistically be dragged into Team Aqua in specific:
- I'm particularly easily swayed by extremist environmentalism-focused stuff, including primitivist/anti-civilization leaning stuff like they go for in oras (used to be one of my main interests)
- i am very anti-anthropocentric (while team magma's 'environmentalism' particularly in oras is very human-focused in their reason for land expansion stuff, it's very easy for me to imagine them as "enemy")
- i like water pokemon and water and how hoenn has too much water (it doesn't have enough water the whole game should be water routes) like its SO EASY for me to get into this mindset lmao

some of these things apply to Team Plasma as well, and I do relate to N as a character /a lot/ because of seeing myself in him for these reasons. but in the end, if given this list of groups and forced to join one....well honestly even /without/ the "you have to pick one to join" motivation: i would /happily/ join team aqua probably without realizing what a bizarre brainwashed cult i'd gotten dragged into lmao

my thoughts about this made me realize why i actually like team aqua so much though; like of course throughout my life my susceptibility to being dragged into those sorts of things hasn't been a good thing. but i think "seeing myself" in a lot of the team aqua people winds up being a fun lighthearted way to make a darker aspect of my history as a person feel a lot more tolerable. and it's often hard for me to be able to relate to characters, so i'm happy i can see myself in those characters

so now i just kinda happily embrace the "if i was a trainer i'd be in team aqua" identity. thinking about replaying rse and going through it imagining myself as an ex-aqua grunt who defected or something, using only pokemon they'd realistically have

I really appreciate all the thought you put into this @Toxtricity ! It's nice to see someone's thought process in these hypotheticals.

Aqua would be a tempting team for me to join as well to be honest. I can't stand the heat so I'd certainly be down for the environmentalists that would cool things down a little, wouldn't be opposed to having more room for water types(Even though my favorite type is Fire, how ironic...), plus the cool uniforms.

I'd also be tempted to join Galactic. They're a bunch of dorks, which is relatable, but I thought a good portion of them were pretty chill. I'd have to ask Cyrus if the bowlcut is strictly necessary though, because I really couldn't pull that off at all. And I'd be lying if the whole "Recreate the universe to make it better" wasn't an appealing thought at times (The whole 'Get rid of all emotions' thing Cyrus wants to do wouldn't be known to me. I'm not sure if even his Admins knew that part of the plan), but that's so absurd that I imagine at least some grunts didn't think that was dead serious.

And then Skull because its a nice way to oppose the status quo without endangering anything. Just goof off with your buddies.
