Once upon a time there was a man. And he loved movies. But also maybe video games, a little bit? And so he set out to create things that were kinda both at once. Often reviewed with "I loved it, but it was crazy. And whoever made it is crazy."

But the fat cats. The big wigs. With their penny pinching and their bean counting. They would meddle with his creations. Because the fat cats, the big wigs, they only see value in monetary gain and industry dominance. And thanks to them this man's greatest artistic endeavor was hampered. What should've been a cultural force of nature more or less faded into irrelevance as the last whisper of better days.

The man fought his case. "I was gonna do so much more!" But the big fat wigs, they denied up and down the existence of any "epilogue" or "extra content" left on the cutting room floor. But in time the man proved there WAS such content, doing the best he could with what he had to create sort of a half-formed "Here's Some Concepts Of What I Wanted To Do If I Had All The Time, Money, & Freedom To Do It" piece. To which people said "See? He really is a genius of the craft! Look at what we might've gotten if he had been free to create! Those big cats puffing their cigars and wringing palms don't have an appreciation for art!" The man was declared the underdog victor against an industry that needed him more than he needed them.

And so the people put faith in him as an independent creator. Let him be free to do his absolute own thing. The fat cats had it their way and they failed. We saw what we might've gotten to have. Let's let the artist do his art. And so he did just that.

But when it was released, well, you could say response was mixed. Because upon seeing this thing, created with more freedom and resources than he had ever had before, a lot of people were like "Okay, yes, the last thing he made, the Whigs wouldn't let him do it. But does that really mean everything he touches is gold? Come to think of it, let's revisit some of the other stuff he made."

But a lot of other people were like "You're looking at this through the wrong lens. You're reviewing a pizza to see if it makes a good truck tire. Because you don't 'understand' the art this man makes. It's for people like us. And the French."

This man's story I guess you could say is the story of every man. Every man, woman, and child who dared to dream.

Just want to say that Death Stranding is a great game if you can get through its tedious opening chapters. Once you unlock more traveling options and weapons it really opens up and gets fun but man those first few chapters are a fucking slog

MGS1 was a true revolution in cinematic storytelling in games. Its impact can not be understated. Honestly, while a lot of his games have issues, I've never disliked any of them. Some are better then others but I found them all enjoyable. Snyder, on the other hand, is more of a one hit wonder. 300 was a cool movie. Watchman was alright. Everything else...ehh.

They both suck.
Kojima at least used to be good, Snyder never was.

He was chosen to direct Justice League, but they tampered with his vision, then he released the Snyder Cut to prove he would've done a better job if they let him, and so Hollywood was like "Okay, he's clearly the name to back, let's let him do his thing." Then he made Army of the Dead.

I mean that mostly came later, the first MGS1 is not that crazy. I'm not even a fan of the series much and I still recognize that Metal Gear Solid 1 is a masterpiece.

I will say this Kojima's worst game as far as critics are concerned is still better than a lot of other developers best game.

He was chosen to make Batman v. Superman. It was REALLY bad.
He was chosen to make Justice League. It was so bad they replaced him and gave the new guy an impossible task to quickly revise his entire crappy movie and make it more like a Marvel movie.

Then the toxic Snyder nut huggers constant whining got WB to let him put out a bloated 4 hour mini-series and call it a movie, and everyone couldn't fall all over themselves fast enough to be astonished that, "wow, you can fit more characterization into 4 hours than you can into 2, Zack Snyder is a genius!"
Then he was given total creative freedom once again and shit out another typical Snyder movie and his shit stain of a fan base...still try to defend it but you can tell they feel awkward about it.

Better synopsis.

MGS1, 2, 3, 4, PW, and MGSV are all profoundingly great games, each in their own way

they arent for everyone, but for many of the people who do manage to appreciate them, they are some of the best experiences in all of gaming

people can make fun if they want, and thats perfectly okay, but from my perspective Kojima is an absolute artist and his games are works of true art

Sin City wasn't him, and Watchmen he had the comic to work with so it didn't really require much thought. And apparently he still butchered the adaptation / completely missed the point of the themes of the comic.

Well watching a movie is a far less time consuming thing, so 2ish hours vs. 12-20 for each game.
