I never miss on purpose since I play an Infiltrator.

Other classes, sure, but not as an Infiltrator.

If I choose to begin the Citadel DLC right away, does anyone know if I'll miss some of its content (since I've yet to recruit the last squadmate)?

I think if you wait to have the party, you can still get all the unique content.

You shouldn't miss anything as long as you wait to have the party until right before the point of no return, making sure you see everyone who invites you to hang out on the Strip/at the apartment.

The main Citadel questline does lock you in until you finish it though so keep that in mind.

So you can finish out the quest itself and just revisit the Strip periodically to hang out with people until you're ready for the party at the end of the game.

I recruited Tali just to be safe. Luckily, it looks like she gets recruited automatically without needing to progress the main story with any new missions. Anyway...

Holy crap, Anderson's pad - the old timer was definitely living a playboy double life ("settling down with Kahlee Sanders" my ass). And I lol'd at all the disdainful looks Shepard got as she skipped the line to get into the fancy sushi restaurant. This DLC is already bringing fireworks.

I asked her to rank the characters (as per B8 tradition) and this is what she came up with:

Shepard > Wrex > Anderson > Garrus > Kaidan > Liara > Tali > Joker > Ashley > Udina

Good taste. Wrex is definitely the best ME1 character by a wide margin.

Playing it over I dont think the Ashley stuff has aged well. I remember her as being a little quirkily racist but shes actually genuinely horrible.

Also the Cerberus Harrier fucking rocks and I wish I had bought that instead of the N7 Hurricane first.

Yeah, Ashley is genuinely the most repulsive "romantic option" I've ever seen in a videogame.That being said, no one really is appealing in ME1.

Yeah, I've done 5 or 6 runs through the series and have never once had the desire to romance Ashley.

She gets hot in ME3 but you have to overlook the fact that she was basically advocating for space alt-right just three years prior. She's the romance option if you want to play "Villain Shep" I guess.

They gave her glossier lips and a little more blush but that's about it. I don't think she even has eyeshadow.

Also since she no longer uses the same default model that every other Alliance Soldier uses in Mass Effect 1, her new outfit makes her ridiculously stacked.

it's been a long time so my memory is hazy, but something about the engine in me3 felt a little more optimized for a jersey shore look for multiple characters

Never understood why they changed her in Mass Effect 3. If anything, it just made her even worse and didn't fit her established tomboy character, either. They didn't change Kaiden.

I'm ready to unleash pedantry.

On the Thane recruitment mission (among others), all the investigate dialogue options have full stops. "Tower." "Nassana." "Assassin." On a lot of others, they don't.

I don't care for this inconsistent use of punctuation

The Terra Firma party is basically alt-right analog (or at least the nationalist analog) and Ashley hates them, which honestly makes her more confusing.

It'd be more understanding if she just had a problem with Turians but she seems to have less to say about them than any other species.

There should have been 100% more human/turian animosity in general which would have made the Garrus/Shepherd relationship even better.

Most turians you interact with in ME1 don't really like Shepard. At best, they tolerate him, so the tension is there.

I mean 90% of the people you meet in Mass Effect are xenophobic. Ashley really isn't any worse than a lot of them, just more noticeable because she's a squadmate.

"At least she looks like a woman", "we have to make nice with the bug-eyed freaks?"; I feel like Ashley is worse than 90% of the xenophobes you meet that you mention. Even the Terra Firma party as horrible as they probably are don't say stuff like straight off the bat. I wanted a turian to be like we should have finished the job with humanity or you're gonna make me lose my lunch or something instead of just being a little rude.

Kaidan's old teacher said some stuff like that, though that's all second hand info from Kaidan

Also I really dislike all the ME2 DLC having like, no lines for the squadmates. Arrival they sort of get away with but it's so fucking obvious and dumb in Shadow Broker. Make it just you/Liara the whole time.

Yeah I was surprised that they didn't let you do that given the lack of hubs in the game. Throw in a couple of extra dialogue-based quests for a little extra EMS/reputation, a few shops, wouldn't have been a huge problem
