So I'm moving through ME2, and I think one of my biggest problems with ME3 is still the lack of hub worlds. It's fun landing on a planet and having a little space to explore before you get to actual missions.

The biggest flaw in both ME2 and ME3 was the scaling back of any kind of exploration. Imagine a world where they took the concept of landing on a planet with the Mako from ME1 and built on it in 2/3, instead of just putting in the useless scanning mini game?

Shit, I forgot that Garrus and Tali hook up if you don't romance either of them.

I was gonna romance Garrus but now I'm having second thoughts.

Ya, that's a hard no. And imagine they improved on it by adding more things to do. ME2 and ME3 were linear as hell and boring. The only good part of ME2 were the loyalty missions (Tali's in particular)

ME2 still easily the best entry in this franchise.

What really shocked me about ME3 playing again was just how bland every environment is. Gray moon, brown desert, metal base, and over half of them are full of debris. Nothing feels alien, nothing feels special. The only exception being stuff that apeing off of things you already did in ME2. Planets you've been hearing about for the entire franchise have NOTHING going on. One of them you go to the moon instead an it's a gray generic moon with barricades and, oh yeah, turrets (seriously, nothing screams EA corporate demands like mandatory turret sections).

I can't beleive in saying this, but Andromeda did a much better job with environments.

This sounds like the take of someone trying to be "edgy" by sticking up for the abortion that was the ME3 ending

Yeah I'll second this, if there's one area where Andromeda moved the series in the right direction, it's the environments. The open world stuff was pretty fun.

Man

I love the story on Feros, the way the mystery unravels, the choices you have to make, the gas grenades etc. It's unique to the series, and interesting.

But jesus christ the environment is awful. So grey and samey and almost confusing because it's so colorless. I guess that's what they were going for but they may have done their job too well. The reason I said earlier that I had half of Feros left is because I stopped after I got out of the Mako because I was getting so frustrated and bored with the way it looked.

Yeah the colony story is well done (I like how you later hear enthusiastic radio reports about the colony rebuilding itself if you save everyone), but the environment on Feros is much less interesting than Noveria or even Liara's dig site.

You can actually hang around there and kill them until they stop coming, but I don't think it's 180 of them.

My wife is playing through for the first time, and she's slowly getting the hang of the gameplay. We've only done the mission to recruit Liara for the main missions so far, but she's doing planet exploration right now to help her get used to the different aspects of the game.

She's been playing Renegade more than Paragon (she thinks Shepard should be more soldierly and businesslike), but she picks a lot of middle of the road options, too. I've made sure she puts her points into Charm and Intimidate whenever possible though.

Never thought I'd be picking up Mass Effect again, but here I am. Wish they'd drop the price on Andromeda. I'd like to give it a try, but for like $10.00 cause I heard it's terrible.

Just finished the Luna VI mission, and there's a string of binary code at the end. I've never bothered to look it up before, but my wife was curious, so we did.

It's saying "Help," which is pretty wild considering that VI eventually becomes EDI.

My wife did not punch out the reporter, but when I told her afterwards that you could, she almost reloaded her save so she could (she doesn't want me to tell her anything in advance unless one of her choices would get a squadmate killed, which I did inform her was possible just so she knew).

Also I guess I've never chosen the Mindoir background for Shepard because I didn't remember that scene on the Citadel with the escaped slave. It was really good.

My daughter did it on accident because she just does all the interrupts. She felt bad, though, and went back and didn't punch her out.

Patch dropping soon that will fix the bug that prevents you from leveling to the cap in the new leveling system in ME1. Sucks for those of us that finished already!

They're also toning down the mass relay jump audio in that game.

And then in ME2 they changed the amount of credits you get for importing a character from ME1 back to what it used to be, instead of the 600000 or so I started with. Glad I played before they fixed that!

Same, I had over a million but I think I never spent below 500k while buying everything I wanted so I assume it would have been good.

I'm honestly getting almost as giddy to play ME3 as I was for it at launch. I was always of the mindset that ME2 was the best but I feel the combat isn't quite where it needs to be.

Also its getting me to give Andromeda another shot just cause I feel like I'm caring less and less about the stories of these games.
