Swift FINALLY dropped the Raubaun card, and I saw some random imperial dude who wanted to play cards while on a quest, and got Gaius from him. Two 5* cards now, so that's something.

I mean you can just search on Twitter and find receipts of a few years ago of him complaining about "pronouns in bio" types or whatever.

I dunno. Part of it is just twitter being twitter but also it's just like...the FF14 community, especially in the competitive area, ESPECIALLY on Aether, has a lot of baseline toxicity that doesn't get talked about. Not that I'm excusing it, but from my perspective a lot of the major 14 personalities like Xeno and Mr Happy also get up to shit, so a lot of of this reads to me like people projecting onto an outsider. My WoW friends already hate the guy due to some incidents in the past, but honestly the biggest difference seems to be that his fanbase is orders of magnitudes bigger than FF14 players', and haters have been more willing to keep receipts.

I dunno man. I'm just gonna say I'm a Cactuar main and I'm unsubbed right now and I'm real glad about that.

Like yeah that's not great, but complaining about pronouns in bio 3 years ago (which seems to just be one tweet he made and never followed up on?) seems to not be quite enough for the response of "organized harrasment campaign involving hundreds of false reports and playing licensed music around him to try and get him banned on Twitch".

I saw one of the things people took issue with was him getting people banned he "didn't like" by requesting mass reports, but then the clip in question was him telling his viewers to mass report a guy who had hidden the N-word in his name?? That's why you have to look into this stuff yourself.

It looks like as of this morning a bunch of the trolls have been suspended, though.

Fuck twitter. Everything on social media is toxic. My time spent in FF14 the game itself has had less toxicity than any other multiplayer game I've ever played by several orders of magnitude. It's not perfect but by gamer standards, it honestly might as well be. I don't think you're going to get much better without removing the human element entirely and replacing everyone except you with bots.

In game I have had very few issues. I guess straight up ignoring helpful advice like I posted about Saturday night could be it's own form of toxicity, but that's a newer player so I guess it's not, like, in community at that point. There's really been nothing since that list I posted of stuff like a month ago.

Garuda and Titan both beaten again. Both queues were super fast again, within 5 minutes. Wiped to Titan because the boulders exploding killed some, and he knocked others off the platform lol.

Edit: How much harder are the extreme trials, at least for ARR?

The problem with Paladin is everything that makes its rotation fun is 71-80. Doing synced content is pain.

At the very least make Intervene like a level 50-ish skill

Uhh I actually don't know for ARR since I've never done them synced (except for Shiva unreal, which I think is closer to sync + min item level).

Generally though for extremes you need to actually know the mechanics (unlike for normal/alliance raids where the group can typically deal with rezzing people who fuck up as much as is required). There can be some deaths, but there will be actual dps checks. Similarly most of your group will need to be doing something approximating a correct rotation, especially if you're not massively outgearing the fight.

Past Extreme is when it's time to actually set up a group.

Of course my recent extreme experience is solo unsynched level 80 45-second long fights for Wonderous Trail challenges.

Leviathan still sucks even unsynched though, lol.

Maybe there are nuances to the Paladin setup I just don't know, because not fitting on two hotbars is too much to me. Is there something like the GNB bullet combo where 3 abilities are actually just one button?

Paladin doesn't have that. However Paladin should only have one button that doesn't fit in 2 hotbars. Shield Bash is the one you can leave out of your comfy setup since it's extremely situational.

Like I think I've only used it in Leviathan unreal for the add that needs to be stun locked?

So far I haven't had to go over two for anything besides this theoretical Paladin setup, but I'll review it. I guess once I start doing actual hard content and need Shirk things will change. It helps that I have Sprint and LB on my weapon sheathed bar, which is super easy to swap to on controller with R3.

Dancer def could have tons of free spots, but I also have a ton of stuff mirrored on the left and right side of the hotbars because the oGCD weaving is so crazy tight. You gotta have two Fan Dance 3s in instant press distance from both your single and AoE rotations at least.

Question for other Dancers, actually. For Flourish, is it worth the free procs of AoE when doing single target, and vice versa, or should I just be letting those sit? Obviously RNG is involved, so maybe there's no real answer.

You do use all the procs from Flourish even on single target

You already got the tldr answer of "yes" but I'll give the tl version of its actually VERY worth it! They are the same potency as your single target procs, and it'll give you more fan dance procs, and every two flourishes you will also have Technical Step and Devilment up at the same time you're spamming all this, so this is actually the most important thing for Dancers to keep track of for their own personal dps.

Wiped on the Keeper of the Lake dungeon twice, both due to not using the shield generator. Lotsa story stuff in the last bit.

Took a look ahead, not at the specifics, but to see how many main quests I have left to do. By my count, I have 20 left, before Heavensward. May be able to hammer out half of those tonight, depending if there are dungeons/trials to queue for (though my queue luck was great earlier).

Yeah it was definitely a hike. The "shortcut" leads to a screen where you have to exit to a different screen? Not much of a shortcut.

I feel like I'm not doing a whole lotta damage as a bard, but I think that may be just how it goes? I think I'm using my skills somewhat right, for what I have.

Bard trades a fair bit of damage in exchange for mobility. Just how it is.

Ranged DPS average damage fluctuates heavily by level, too.

Dancer AOE demolishes low levels. At level 50 content, machinist can regularly hold the #1 DPS enemity for an entire raid with ease even amongst black mages and samurai, and that sure as heck doesn't last.

Yeah, a ton of bard's damage is from Wanderer's Minuet and Pitch Perfect, as well as upgraded versions of its regular GCDs and dots that you might not have yet.

In addition there is a quirk SPECIFICALLY with bard where a ton of your damage is based on rng procs from your dots, and the rate starts very low and goes up as you level. It doesn't become good until the 60s or 70s.

It's so dumb that bard buffs don't give the passive to the bard themselves. Feels really bad when you're solo!

It's also "RNG," in that your 30s cooldown (Empyreal Arrow) will proc the effect of whatever song you're singing (so, one extra stack of Pitch Perfect or Army's Paeon, or reset Bloodletter in Mage's)

Haven't posted in here for a long while but I did end up subscribing and am currently absolutely devouring Heavensward. Just passed Bismarck, things have slowed down a little bit but everything between The Aery and The Vault was legit 10/10. Can't wait to get back to those highs, as I feel confident will happen after this rising action.

On the gameplay front I've been playing DRG from the outset and its kind of wild how much more engaging the HW kit is compared to the ARR kit. Interested to see how the remaining stuff changes it - my impression is it never gets any less linear but it has enough buttons to press to stay fun. I'm certainly enjoying it thus far!

A lot of jobs feel real bad to play in 50ish content. They really could stand to move of a lot of skills earlier so jobs have a more fun rotation early on, rather than spreading it out to the later levels.

The Dragoon kit looks incredibly daunting to me (6 part GCD combo??), but I imagine it's one of those things where once you do it a couple of times it isn't a problem, just like Samurai. When you look at the Samurai kit after unlocking it'd HORRIFYING, but it's easy peasy.

The part where it clicks, or at least has for me so far with every job, is realizing that you don't have to remember what 90% of the moves are called, just where you put them. I've played 50+ hours of Samurai and at the height of being in that could have told you the name of 5 moves including Third Eye. Right now....I can only remember Third Eye....and Yukikaze, though I don't remember which one that is. Medare Something? But I could tell you EXACTLY what buttons I push, in which order, and at what frequency, and jump into level 80 content with zero issues other than my crap gear.

The only cursed thing about Dragoon is the huge animation locks for some of their jumps. Otherwise it's the easiest melee dps. From hardest i'd say it's monk > sam > nin > drg.

Got through a whole bunch of quests yesterday, got 4 left until Heavensward, though I need to get deeper in the Crystal Tower questline before continuing.

The Chrysalis was fun, we wiped once due to Dark IV murdering everyone (too many orbs got through to Nabriales), but then got him second time.

The Steps of Faith was a bit odd, because I'm pretty sure our party didn't do the mechanics at all. Not one cannon was manned, we just all bursted down the boss.

I do wish some trials had an automatic item level sync built into them so they wouldn't be trivial. All the X.0 finale trials feel like cakewalks at this point when they should be the biggest and baddest thing a player had encountered to that point.

I think they have learned their lesson on this because the 5.0 finale was all spectacle even at release. And meanwhile I would not wish the experience of the 4.0 finale trial at release on anyone.

Actually I say that but I think I actually have wiped to the enrage in the 5.0 trial, though that was well after release so I don't know.
