If one or two whales donate most of the goal, what incentive is there for anyone else to donate, especially when DSP shows very little gratitude? Clearly the vest and glasses gimmick isn't working anymore. He's in no danger of going broke, because those whales will support him no matter what, but he seems to have lost his hold on the smaller supporters, and he is unwilling to do anything to encourage them to donate again.

Guess what his plan is for rebuilding on youtube: getting an xbox series x.

He is still convinced that being a variety streamer draws people in, when he's one of the worst of the bunch. Most people just come for the drama.

...It's a dumbed down golf game for kids.

Also in a recent stream his glued on vest rack fell off the wall and he basically said that he can't screw stuff onto a wall because he can't afford an electric drill.

The man doesn't have a basic fucking tool for living on your own and he's in his mid thirties (I actually can't remember his exact age) and living with his wife. It's fucking incredible. I imagine literally everything in his house involves shelves is just sat onto the walls with sunction or glue. It's the equivalent of a grown man using nothing but velcro sneakers out of an inability to comprehend laces.

IF you like the content, support it. This in and of itself is both harmless and true. I mean, I am subscribed to Lunar Baboon's Patreon for example, because I really enjoy their content and want to show a little support.

But it works both was, if you don't like content, you are not going to support it. People would normally take this as feedback and a sign they need to change/improve.

But not Phil, fuck no. If people don't support him, they should. There is no reason to improve or change, just beg/guilt trip harder. If you look at his viewership versus the amount of money he makes, you'll see a huge discrepancy

I wonder what kind of support he would get if he didn't beg constantly, if he just did the normal streamer spiel of "if you like my content and want to see more of it, here's how you can support me," then let his actual content try to sell itself. My guess is that there'd be streams where the tips goal didn't hit double digits.

This isn't about owning the trolls (because the trolls are laughing at these whales) or trying to buy a mod position or trying to impress people in chat (because the chat is a wasteland). This is people throwing money into a black hole, and the only thing they're getting out of it is DSP telling them they need to throw more money into the hole.

As far as we've seen, his whales are special needs people, or those who have nothing better to do than toss money at him. They are likely trying to fill some kind of void in their life and hoping that DSP is that person. They probably do not know better and hope the attention DSP gives them is enough to get them by. Unfortunately, we all know that DSP only cares about the money and not the people behind giving him that money.

And then complaining about how hard it was to make and that his wife might be "misremembering" that she used to enjoy this. And DSP wonders why people speculate about his relationship with Kat. All she does is ask him to make a meal, and he goes on a five minute rant in front of hundreds of strangers about what a chore it was and how awful it tasted.

I also loved that he was surprised that a meal he just finished cooking was hot.

Seriously. I don't get it. Does he think hamburger helper has some magical ingredients that make it hotter than most things? I don't get it.

I used to make Hamburger Helper when I was in my teens and my mom was working late. Yeah, it's not going to be done in five minutes, but it's still relatively quick, and it's not exactly rocket science. If he schedules his day so poorly that he literally doesn't have the time to wait for his hot food to cool down before shoving it in his mouth, then I don't even know what to say.

This also makes me think he must order in food almost constantly, because if he has this much trouble making Hamburger Helper, then I think we'd hear rants about his trouble making meals more often.

For someone living out of their means, it could be possible? Assuming his monthly rent or whatever for where he lives is somewhere in the ballpark of like $2k, that means he is blowing a lot of money elsewhere. His electric bill can't be more than like $500 or so a month, and I can't imagine his other utilities being that much. His internet might be a good bit, but probably not more than $200-300 a month. From all of the above, let's assume his monthly bills are around $3000-3500, which leaves a big discrepancy.

If he eats out a lot, there goes a good bit of money that could be saved by simply not doing that and learning how to cook (which we know he can't do and probably won't do). For 2 people and a cat, his monthly grocery bills are likely around $500-1000. He doesn't really go anywhere on his own, except like the story, so his gas prices should be pretty damn low.
