Im hoping this is the right board for a thread topic like this.

The plus size model Tess Holliday announces recently that she has been suffering from anorexia, but this is a rather profound statement, giving her size. Does this mean she is like eating less than 300 calories a day?, does it mean she is starving herself most of the time which is what actual anorexics do?.

Or does it mean that all she has done is just dropped her calories for now to 1,500 a day instead of the 7,000 or 8,000 she probably normally eats a day?. If so, that is not anorexia Tess.

Even if we dont argue semantics, if she was truly fitting the habitual criteria for anorexia she either just started starving herself, or she has been doing it for a long time and has already lost a significant amount of weight and will continue to do so.

I said in the last thread about this woman - just because she's not rail thin, it's not out of the question for her to have lessened her caloric intake to dangerous levels due to mental health issues about her weight. You can be fat and anorexic, and you can still suffer the ill effects of anorexia like kidney damage without looking like a skeleton.

That's a fucked up way of looking at this. People who are made to feel self conscious about their weight tend to be the people who suffer from eating disorders. We have it in our minds that it's insecure teenagers and glamorous size 0 models who have a disconnect between their perfectly healthy bodies and their body image, and we have a body type in mind for the sort of person who suffers from anorexia.

But that ignores the people who are overweight, who do lower the caloric intake to dangerous levels, and who subsequently suffer the ill effects of anorexia - while still being fat. Because not eating doesn't get you to supermodel size, it fucks with your metabolism and puts your body into panic mode so it stores everything you eat as fat the next time you eat. And then the anorexic person panics over their weight fluctuating and fasts even harder, which fucks with their metabolism even more.

You can fuck up your kidneys without looking like a skeleton with a sheet draped over you. You can suffer the physical and mental effects of anorexia without being 60 pounds of skin and bone. This is not at all impossible, and it's revolting that it would garner scorn to the point of calling for someone's medical license to be revoked.

Seriously, what the fuck is wrong with people when it comes to fat chicks? Christ.

The issue here isnt the denial that she doesnt have an eating disorder (she does), it that anorexia was not the appropriate diagnosis; she has a binge-eating disorder.

You can. Anorexia is associated with, and usually causes, that spooky skeletal thinness, but that's not the only kind. What she has is Atypical Anorexia Nervosa, which is a real actual doctor-codified thing. The major physical difference is the fat, obviously, but the tissue damage and outright organ failure are the same. It stems from lacking the proper nutrients - imagine someone who literally only ate Oreos.

My problem is not believing that a woman cannot become anorexic if she is not already slim or thin, its wanting elaboration of Tess Hollidays definition of "anorexic".

I mean yes, if she is now eating dangerously low or literally starving herself, then it should be taken seriously, but on the other hand, because of the size she already is, its not as urgent as a slim or skinny woman being this way.

But if she is eating 1,000 or 1,500 calories a day instead of the 8,000 or 9,000 she was probably eating, then i think thats gonna do her more good than harm.

This her..You can be 100s of pounds and still have an eating disorder so we should not write her off just like that. However given her size and the claim that she just isn't eating it would seem that she would have lost some weight. in the currect pictures that did not seem like the case. However I am not going to judge her mental issues.

Never said you couldent, but it would take her considerably longer too. When you dont have enough calories in your body from food, your bodies next port of call is to get it from your fat reserves, which she has plenty of.

I keep seeing this story pop, up and I have changed my view point. I think she is full of shit. I was wanting to give her benefit of the doubt because I think everyone should have that. But there is no way for her to still be that big if she has been fighting got dang anorxia for anything longer then a week.

Note over weight people can have eating disorders even anorexia. This is why I didn't want to bash her . Because it can happen. However with her size there is no possible this can be thing.

if as someone else had mentioned, shes just EATING LESS FOOD than shes accustomed to, like going from 20k calories a day to 5k. Thats not anorexia.

Here is a few facts for you. For her to be fighting this disorder for years she would not be gaining weight. She would be promoting fat positivity ( that is literally the opposite of this disorder ).''

She has gotten bigger she her came into public view. This means that she is a getting more Cals. To maintain a weight like her she would have to be eating about 3000K a day, to maintain her weight. But she is growning.

She claimed that she is eating 300 cals a day. If she had 1800K a day that was be extreme weight lose.
