400 seconds * 1.5 = 600 seconds

600 seconds at 2x speed would be 600 / 2, or 300s. 600 seconds at 1.5x speed would be 600 / 1.5 = 400

It should be 7 minutes and 30 seconds if I did my math right. 1.5x is 50% faster. So it should be done in 0.75 the speed of 10 minutes. Plug that into a simple ratio and proportion formula and you get 7.5 which is 7 minutes and 30 seconds. I also converted 10 minutes into seconds before doing the ratio and proportion. Then I converted those seconds back to minutes to make sure there was no wonky shit with the 60 seconds being a minute

1.5 speed means you play for 1 second per 1.5 seconds of video, multiply this by seconds of video to get the seconds played

[(1 second played)/(1.5 s video)]*600 s video = x s played
400 s played = x s played
x = 400

400 seconds played = 6 minutes 40 seconds

The easy way to do it:

If watching at 2x speed, you cut it in half.

So itd take 5 minutes.

1.50 is just half of doubling. So its a quarter fast.

half of 5 minutes is 2.5 minutes.

10-2.5 = 7.5.

Convert into time, and you get 7 min, 30 secs.

Am I wrong in thinking that 2x speed would be 5 minutes (10/2), .5x speed would be 20 minutes (10/.5), and so 1.5 speed would be 6:40 (10/1.5)?

Percentages are weird. 50% doesnt mean twice as fast. Twice as fast is 100%. So if you look at the number 1 as 100% speed, then if you want to convert that into 2x speed then it would cut the time in half. So half of 1 is 0.5. However, it is at 1.5x speed, not 2x speed. So what is in between 0.5 and 1? 0.75.

So if we plug that info into a ratio and proportion you would get

600 seconds aka 10 minutes/1 = X amount of seconds/0.75

Solve for X and you will get how long it take in seconds to finish the video. Convert that to minutes

right, 50% means half as fast.

twice as fast is 2x, or +100%. if you watch a video in 2x speed, you cut the time in half (divide by 2). if you watch a video in 3x speed you cut the time in 1/3 (divide by 3). ergo if you watch a video at 1.5x speed, you divide the total time by 1.5.

At 1.5 speed, for every second you gain a half second compared to standard speed. So at 1/2 the run-time you gained 1/4 and are at 3/4. At 2/3 you gained 1/3 and are at 3/3. So 6:40 to finish a 10:00 video.

600 seconds is 1x speed

So 1,5x speed is right in the middle of 300 and 600 seconds, so 450 seconds which is 7 minutes and 30 seconds.
