Eviction laws kept being pushed back do to covid, people lived rent-free because people lost their jobs. I guess the laws end about eviction soon and people are going to be put out on their asses. The world gets hit with a pandemic, your job closes, you have a family, and you can't afford to live, so good luck finding a bridge to sleep under. But BILLIONS were spent on a portion of a wall at the border that people are scaling with a $10 ladder.

Left, right, I don't care at this point. When can we just start acting humane and prioritize people over hatred?

I'm not sure why you would want to quote that figure, considering that expense was *extremely* low compared to other recent government spending/Covid relief.

The border wall was never about how expensive it was. Particularly after we see how much money has been spent in other directions.

"Landlords" need to pay the banks and support themselves, too. What is the purpose of buying an apartment complex (and likely getting a loan in the process) if it isn't going to produce any income, let alone maintenance, staff, property taxes, etc?

Then there's the really small time landlords who are only renting out a room or two.

Things are the way they are. I wouldn't blame landlords for participating. If they don't participate in the system, who will provide housing? Who will build a 300+ unit apartment complex?

You may not like the way things are, but it's the current reality and "landlords" are probably some of the last people to blame. Sure, there are bad places to live and bad "landlords" or owners, but hopefully some people have the option of choice to avoid certain places.

If that money can be spent on a useless action over a pointless cause, why isn't there a higher priority on making sure our citizens have a home to live in? That is my entire point. Yes, i'm nitpicking on one thing, but it's one thing that I find senseless. The USA is supposed to be a great nation, give me your poor, give me your hungry, but now I want to make a wall to keep you out. Feed OUR hungry, feed OUR poor, help OUR homeless. Give to our citizens and do the right thing. Again, it's not even over politics, it's about the bigger picture. Do for our people, do what's right. Help where we need to be helped. A damned wall isn't the answer.

Im not blaming any individual here. Im against landlords as a concept. That doesnt mean I have anything against Yuna for instance. At the end of the day though, landlords profit off of vulnerable people. Landlords take land and housing away from other people who could instead own their own home. Landlords in general are a net loss on quality of life. There are some niches where they can help but its not enough.

Many will argue, including myself, that the wall would help prevent people from coming into the country illegally and benefiting from services that should be entitled to Americans.

Was the border wall plan impenetrable? No, probably not. But at least he made a concerted effort to help curb illegal immigration. At least he recognized that illegal immigration was an issue and wasn't afraid to talk about it or attempt to do something, *anything*, about it.

Like I said, the wall was a miniscule expense and we have spent trillions in other directions, including additional trillions under Biden and we are still in the same scenario. 500,000 evictions are still being given... and the wall had nothing to do with it.

So make of it what it is, but I think it was a bit silly to invoke the wall in this conversation.

The "Crisis" at the border is fake though. We pissed away so much money for 20% of an ineffective wall. Biden isn't a saint, the democrats aren't perfect. I'm a liberal, left guy, at the same time I remain reasonable. I just look at stupid things that this nation sinks money into while they watch their citizens suffer. Help your people. Period. We can afford do it when we stop doing dumb things. Stop doing dumb things. You have $100 and your child is hungry. Do you buy food or an Xbox game? Just put the money where it makes sense to help people live. The wall is simply one of the many, many stupid damn things this nation pisses money away on.

With unemployment, stimulus, and the bonus UI money may people were "making" $700-$1000 per week. There's very little excuse to not pay your rent, it wasn't a homerun but the gov did a decent job of providing income to those not working. And let's not pretend there aren't morons who didn't understand what a deferral is and opted to buy a fucking boat vs paying their rent, assuming that bill just magically went away.

This board doesn't understand that. Their "logic" is if you can buy more than one house you're clearly fabulously wealthy and should provide free housing just because. The entitlement and lack of understanding of basic economics is unreal and very telling as to where they are. Exhibit A:
