Ha, you're right. They get it, they just don't want to admit it and prefer to snivel and perform mental gymnastics that wouldnt impress or fool a beagle lol.
Wut? I don't see how it's mental gymnastics that they know landlords are losing money and they want that to happen.

If someone never bothered paying rent on top of our increased unemployment, and stimulus checks up till now I have zero sympathy for them.

This board doesn't understand that. Their "logic" is if you can buy more than one house you're clearly fabulously wealthy and should provide free housing just because. The entitlement and lack of understanding of basic economics is unreal and very telling as to where they are. Exhibit A:

They also don't get what owners end up paying: repairs, maintence, insurance, property taxes, just for things they all have. Depending on agreements and types of tenents, you can get stuck with things from accessability needs, down to lawn care and snow removal. It's not like there's zero cost to them for things they take on that renters avoid, and if you own several properties, there's always something breaking you are under contract to get fixed on your dime. I've known people that have tried it and they laugh at people calling it passive income.

I got drunk as fuck and I thought I had dropped off a rent check that night (the 1st) but I was too wasted to trust my memory. I wanted to trust it. I waited a few days. As of yesterday, I didn't have a withdrawal on my bank statement. My landlord usually cashed checks sooner, but also I expected him to have asked me what's up if I had failed to give him a check... I was mildly stressed out. I texted him about to see if maybe I remembered incorrectly and possibly did not drop off a check. He said I did drop it off and he got it but just didn't cash it yet. It was the most mundane thing to seem non-mundane that happened to me in a while...

do you want a revolution? because millions of newly homeless is how you get a revolution. it would have been bad 6 months ago. now that it's warm in DC? good fucking luck.

I mean....what are they revolting against? "We demand your property that we have no claim to because reasons! Free housing for life!"
By and far, those were self inflicted wounds. As I said, with the gov doing an uncharacteristically competent job of providing the unemployed with income during the pandemic, there's very little reason to have not paid rent. So what, just give these people free housing and fuck the landlords who managed to pay their mortgage during this?

The assumption seems to be that public housing somehow isn't going to be public housing.

They snivel, not realizing that if they got their way and landlords were abolished or not allowed to make profit (effectively abolishing the practice since nobody works for free) that literally leaves them dependent on the government for housing. And you sound like a smart guy, no need to go off on how "awesome" gov housing is LMAO

The mental gymnastics is the anti landlord kiddos trying to convince the adults why this is a good thing and why they "deserve" to lose their properties if renters don't pay.

I never said it was an impressive routine. Less gymnastics and more flopping around on the ground babbling and waving a streamer I guess lol

I don't know why people attack folks for living with their families. Both my cousins bought homes with cash in their early 30s because they weren't giving 1k per month to some corporation. I've been renting since 21 and I still don't own a home 15 years later.

Yeah I agree. My goal at 34 will actually be to move back to my Dads land in my own paid off RV. I would save 1k a month that will pay off a new used vehicle and then build my own house.

I've been living alone for almost 10 years and cant get ahead.

More irony. This started with you saying people don't understand what Houston was saying.

Granted, Houston implied he thought it was a bad thing landlords were losing money but the post just said things people know and don't give a shit about.

Context matters. It's not like he's caring for an ill family member or lost his job.
There's a world of difference between staying at home while in college or moving back due to unforseen life circumstances, and staying at home until damn near middle age because it's convenient. Dude has straight up said "why should I leave i have free food and roof" and was dead serious.

Plus lookin down his nose at other people really doesn't help his case

I actually all for giving them the free rent they want. Just don't come crying if the roof leaks, burnace breaks, or wiring needs to be brought up to code because the landlord now no longer has the money to fix those things.

Never mind that if someone didn't buy that property, then the rentals wouldn't exist? God damn lol

I wasn't clear in my post but I was specifically targeting landlords who buy up houses. Large apartment complexes are a lot more justifiable but buying up houses to rent them out is disgusting.

My dude, the massive eviction crisis we are facing is happening right now. Without the government housing.

Landlords: "GIVE ME MY BLOOD MONEY!!!"

Fine, but don't come crying to me when that blood needs to be repaid.

*two years later* *social uprising occurs which leaves thousands of upper-class, including politicians, and millions of landlords dead in a fashion that would leave Mao Zedong horrified*

All that really changed, is who the landlord is.
Oh, and I guess that the landlord can have you shot or sent to a gulag now. That only happens in Arkansas over here.

the situation in the US has virtually no similarities to China 20th century. The US isnt 80%+ rural with daily wages close to 0, it hasnt been invaded multiple times and loss territory, it hasnt been through multiple civil wars and had a collapse of the central state.

basically anything different was beneficial to China. Not the case for the us.

I've heard stories of Arkansas landlords refusing to cash your rent check and then calling the cops for unpaid rent to get rid of you.
