In these contended matches, lem mostly agreed with Group B, only going with Group A for over-nove, Kohri, and Mahoujin. These results are bit harder to extract from, the best I can say is that Dire-Janus does better with harsh/unfamiliar sounds, with a big asterisk that it's completely flipped for Strange Sunset/XaaaCi. and Full Steam Ahead/Exhaustion 3?!

Verdict: I think "anime and vocals" is a pretty good description of this cohort, with maybe an internal split of "WOW cool sounds I like that interesting section" vs. "Yay so pretty and nice". Will do another analysis when I'm in the mood again...

I think my Group A votes represent the prog side of my tastes that comes out every now and then. Interestingly, most of those contended matches were ones where I liked both songs, and half of those matches were notably close for me. Me personally, I like both cool sounds and pretty and nice, and now that I think about it, that might give support to what you said about the internal split because some of those close matches were me enjoying the cool sounding song and pretty and nice song to similar degrees. Of course, I can only speak for myself, but those are my thoughts. I really enjoyed this analysis and I'm looking forward to the next one! :)

Don't know what to say about that internal split though. Some of those were a bit close for me but others had clear winners for me and I don't really have a good answer for why.

In more "too late for this VGMC" news - Caligula Effect 2 released in Japan a few days ago. AFAIK there's only one partial Youtube song uploader atm and tbqh the volume is not... great. Even when I max both my system and Youtube's volume's sliders it's... probably still lower than I'd prefer but hey I've been hyped for this OST and am basically a guaranteed Day 1 buy when/if it goes up digitally (Caligula Overdose did so here's hoping) so that didn't stop me from following this game's release.

Like the first game, for each of the big musician songs they brought in a separate vocaloid composer for each. It's an entirely new slate of composers for Caligula 2 here so if you're looking for a new spin on it you've got it. The one exception is that cosMo (the composer of Distorted Happiness in Caligula 1) returned to compose a song in Caligula 2.

So, with the big caveat that even I, someone who couldn't tell good/bad sound quality if my life was literally dependent on it, is saying the volume of all things is shaky for these current uploads... my personal nearly-first impression Top 3 ~early favorites/recs~ would be...

xxxx/xx/xx (This is the cosMo-composed song so no surprise here given how much I adore Distorted Happiness)
Eternal Silver
SINGI

(I will note that while I prefer the Regret version of xxxx/xx/xx, I think those more inclined to unique/odd musical stuff may prefer the Regret (Remix) version of it but idk for sure. I think it definitely does some very cool stuff even if I prefer the base version overall - it's pretty close for me, definitely something I could flip on given some time to think on.)

I think they're all interesting and worth at least a listen if you're interested!

There's also four versions of each song. 2 of them differ in their singer (Regret and x). Personally, I prefer the singer in the Regret versions so that's chiefly what I'm basing my feelings on. Opinions may vary on this as they do with all things musical! There's also a remix version of each based on the Regret version. And then finally of course instrumental versions.

Just finished listening to all the Regret version songs! I don't have a working top x list, but Alter Garden was definitely my favorite. Alter Garden would have been the next song I listed if I had kept going! It was a tough call between it and SINGI for my Top 3 cutoff. But like I said, that was basically a first-impression snap reaction list (also probably had SINGI's remix version more on my mind when I made the call).

As is, I already want to smack the me that posted that for saying I preferred xxxx/xx/xx's base version over the Remix one lol.

xxxx/xx/xx Vo. Regret (Remix) has, in the last ~36 hours as I keep listening and thinking about it basically skyrocketed to like a 9.9/10 to verging on 10/10 song for me at this point lol.

it was definitely a "we need something to pad stuff out cause im running out of poll ideas and its taking me to long to make them some days" lol
