Round 3 has been so unbelievably bad for me... at first I was really frustrated. But now I'm beyond frustration. I can do only one thing now: laugh! (I'm 8 of 22 so far this round)

A quick glance at # of contests and average round performance leads me to conclude these are likely the top contenders in this derby: RFTM, TBIYTC, Zero-Two, Id (Purpose), STDWE, and Battle with Magus. Theoretically it's possible something else breaks into this group if it had an obscene amount of tiebreakers but I don't hate myself enough right now to go that in-depth and it's extremely unlikely anyway unless I just overlooked a contender entirely.

Also my mind kind of melted during all this so hopefully I didn't make any dumb mistakes as I was making this more readable from my draft form that I was compiling in real time.

*Match deducted because of VGMC13 Bye. Id lost in Round 3 but it had a bye in R1 so for the purpose of this calculation it was only awarded 2 matches in VGMC13.
**Match deduced because of VGMC14 Wildcards. To be perfectly honest I forget how these actually worked but TBIYTC lost in R1 then came back as a wildcard and dropped into R3 where it lost again. I awarded it only 2 matches for VGMC14.
^ Indicates I made a judgment call and gave it a tiebreaker and awarded it a match. Prior to VGMC8 tiebreakers were not annotated on brackets so I had to look at the votals in the neighborhood and these ones were obvious.
?Indicates I'm raising an eyebrow at the end votals a bit compared to its neighbors but it's not so obscenely out of place that it's a definite thing. Possible tiebreaker. I did NOT award this a match here but it's a bit sus so I made a note of it. (Ironically this was in the only match between the group, STDWE/BwM VGMC5)

Fun Facts: VGMC8 is the one and only contest where all 6 of these songs were all present. Id's first contest and the one Zero-Two retired in as runner-up.

tl;dr: I mean, if it wins and keeps advancing it would need less, but it's currently 5 back of RFTM and TBIYTC and I'm assuming it'll get 1 of those tomorrow.

At least there's a legitimate argument for "vote manipulation" due to a would-be Unknown Pollution voter intentionally not voting just to prevent the match ending in a tie when it was 1 away. The controversy can live on even if the match is over. But I guess you can't punish someone for not voting anyway.

If you're referring to me, my belief is that after a certain number of ties, you have to evaluate your convictions. If I don't feel strongly about a match, I'm not going to vote in a double (or beyond) tiebreaker. IMO those should be decided by people who are passionate about the match.

That's a lot of tiebreakers, hrhhrhr. Also, that's my kind of finals! Merciless Savior is ranked #22 on my newly-formed top 50 favorite vgm list (subject to some revision, but MS is unlikely to drop much)! ...and Sky of Twilight...well, it's #89, so it's an HM.

For some reason, Merciless Savior just hits me in a way that Liber Ark and Axis Pillar don't. If I put it into that top 64, I think Merciless Savior would probably be in the #8-10 range, so Fateful Confrontation is in a pretty good spot, taking that into account. Maybe it's also that I possibly softened a bit on Merciless Savior, but I think it's because of the high song quality overall in addition to there being more songs since I previously started at round 4 instead of round 3.

As for Kohri, I wasn't actually expecting it to be that high either! It grew on me a lot over time. I knew I liked it when I heard it during the nomination stage, but I didn't think I would put it over that many songs that I already knew I liked a lot. Stella -Part 2- is also a song that grew on me more than I thought it would. Before this contest, I would've expected it to be in the 8/10 range and not the 9/10 range. But yeah, you've had quite a few nominations that I really like!

There are only 4 songs left I'd give an 8+ to, and none I'd give a 9+.
