the secret is murakumo was very strong and in a favourable sff-ish matchup then (and then got screwed by voter fatigue vs ill omen r2 thanks to the bye system)

it's actually mathematically impossible to get a tie. the odds of picking any random natural number is zero so getting any result is difficult but hey the world's a weird place y'know? but getting the same one twice? that's zero times zero, which is even more zero than either zero! you mustve miscounted

Phew. Match 1 was scaring me at first. Fairfrozen hung in there, too. For a while there I was worried that I'd only have one of my top five in Bracket A pull through, but I'm 3/5 now!

I'm finally done with my favorites brackets, so I'll post my results and some thoughts along the way.

Bracket A: The Heritors of Arcadia < Class::CIEL_N_PROTECTA; > Glessing Way! > Inevitable Struggle -Super Arrange Ver.-

Cradle and Kohri, I recall, were both fairly close when it came to which song would take the A4 retirement spot. Kohri in particular grew on me a lot since I first listened to it. Heritors vs. linkage-alter round 2 was also really tough and linkage would probably be my next in line for A1 retiree.

Bracket B: Dreamy and Boisterous Holy Land < BWLAUTE BEIRRD > Stella -Part 2- > Fateful Confrontation

Quite a few surprises in this bracket! For B1, I was expecting either silentwindbell or End of the Raging Waves, whichever song came out ahead in that ridiculously tough match, but I ended up liking Dreamy and Boisterous Holy Land a lot more on subsequent listens; enough to give it the retiree spot. For B3, I thought it was going to be Kranz, but I spent literally over an hour listening to Kranz and Fateful Confrontation back to back trying to decide that round 4 match before settling on Fateful Confrontation. And for B4, I had Point of No Return in my mind and figured Exhaustion 3 would take that spot if I picked it over Point of No Return round 2, but Stella, a bit surprisingly, took not only the retiree spot but also the finalist spot! I could still see a timeline where my B3 and B4 retirees plus the winner of that round 5 match is some mix and match of those respective aforementioned songs.

Bracket C: Kimi ga Tame Re:boot < over-nove < IMAGE -MATERIAL- <Version 0> > Mikazuchi

I was thinking it was gonna be over-nove > Mikazuchi for the finals and Overcome the Rocky Path as the retiree for C4, but IMAGE -MATERIAL- surprised me with an incredibly good song! I still don't know how I passed it in the nominations playlist and didn't have the same reaction I did when I listened to it for the favorites bracket. Valestein Castle vs. Kimi ga Tame was pretty close, so the former song would likely be next in line for C1 followed by Tonitrus. over-nove was the clear C2 pick, but Desert After Tears vs. To the Distant Sky was really close and those two, in that order, would be my next picks. Karma and String Theocracy were really nice discoveries that I'd be happy to see go far (I have both losing round 3).

Bracket D: Five < Sky of Twilight > Eleganza > Connexion

D3 and D4 were definitely the most lackluster parts of the bracket, overall, in my opinion, but it's kinda nice that the result of this is that I'm able to have retirees that I likely wouldn't have chosen to retire if the bracket was re-arranged and shuffled around. Vast Poni Canyon vs. Connexion round 4 was pretty close. I'd be okay with seeing Into Free or Cosmic Hero taking the D3 spot, given how that side of the bracket looks. For D4, DNF FW15C is probably my next likely choice. As much as I love Five, I could honestly see myself taking a resurrectedreplayer champion if Sky of Twilight wasn't there to run through the whole bracket again. That, I'm not certain on, but what is clear is that resurrectedreplayer would be the easy D1 pick in Sky of Twilight's absence. Five vs. Danger round 1 is an evil match because I'd easily pick Danger for the D2 retirement spot if Five wasn't there. I Believe and Bahram Attack have grown on me some, and I'd be happy with seeing either of those retire (I have Bahram losing to I Believe round 2 and I Believe losing to Five round 4, but that round 2 match was tough and I could theoretically flip and send Bahram to round 4).

Bracket A: Heartless Being < Fury Sparks < Dance of the Dog's Howl > Kasaneawase no Nekobako

B: Neuchatel < BWLAUTE BEIRRD < Immanence > Dienos Advento

C: Valestein Castle < Breath of Forest < Targets! > Ancient Land

D: Rush Hour < resurrectedreplayer > Eleganza > Cosmic Hero

One finalist already gone whoops.

Targets vs. Image Material painful first round match. IM's my second favorite song in bracket C, and I think I'd take it over any song in bracket D, too, while Targets is my favorite song overall in the bracket. Sucks having those two go against each other so early.

omg only after voting in today's matches did i realize that this louis cole is, in fact, the same louis cole who made you will see, the song that mycro infamously nominated in song of the week back in the day haha. i certainly like planet x better than you will see but it's nowhere nearly as good as good louis cole music.
