I feel like the writing in most fanfiction is quite bad tbh, which really makes it hard for me.

Of course, the type of fanfiction I'm mainly interested in if any at all is romance-focused stuff which might be worse in that department, idk.

There's obviously been some I've found that are good or great but that hasn't really been the norm.

Well yeah, most fanfiction is bad! You just have to have the patience to filter through the trash to find the rare good stuff.

Youre not really missing much by not having seen Dead Zone, Garlic Jr. doesnt have much backstory there either.

This is a filler arc too, so dont worry too much about the story here.

The Office (British version) Season 1 Episode 4 complete!

I think the basic concept of David Brent's character is that he's trying to use this documentary to get famous, so he wants everyone to think he's good at everything. That being said, I don't have an ear for music, so I can't tell if his song was supposed to be good or bad. I didn't think it was THAT bad, although it wasn't that good either.

Also I think I've nailed down the basic difference between Tim and Jim as characters. The main focus of Tim is that he's a guy who just hates his job, and the fact that he has a crush on Dawn is incidental. Jim is a guy who has a crush on Pam, and he just so happens to hate his job, too.

Hmmm...It doesn't feel like we should only have two episodes left. I can imagine what the climax of the show is going to be in the next episode though. Should be interesting.

All right, after fighting a string of battles in 13 Sentinels, I can finally continue a couple of stories, namely Minami and Ogata. I'm pretty close to the end of Ogata's route, from the looks of it, so let's start with him.

And sure enough, Nenji Ogata's route in 13 Sentinels complete! I wasn't expecting a love confession to Kisaragi at the end there, but I dig it. I'm still trying to figure out how we get to the point we're at in the battle sequences where everyone's working together to defeat the kaiju and complete Operation Aegis. I'm sure we'll get there eventually, but something's still missing.

All right, next up is Minami.

Hit a lock in Minami's route in 13 Sentinels. Got some interesting info from Chibi-hiro, who laughs at us for calling Universal Control a UFO. BJ's missing memory core is up in space, which makes sense because that's where the "real" Miura is, right?

Speaking of which, I can now continue Miura's, Sekigahara's, and Takamiya's stories. Let's start with Miura.

Yeah, that's the moment you've been waiting for the entire show, so there was a lot of pressure for them to do it right, and they did. Strong emotional catharsis there.

Hit another lock on Keitaro Miura's route in 13 Sentinels. They finally dropped the big plot bomb that they aren't really time traveling, but rather they're traveling between sectors, which I've seen coming for a while. There are five sectors, and four of them have already been ruined by the kaiju. They keep talking about how Operation Aegis is going to lead everything to destruction, but they haven't explained how or why we're going through with it anyway.

Let's switch to Takamiya now.

And now I'm done with Takamiya's route, which enables me to get back onto Minami's route. I imagine I'll be able to finish hers with the next scene, so let's take care of that.

I'm always scared to comment about stuff because the nature of everyone going through 13 Sentinels in a different order seems to perfectly lend itself to inadvertent spoilers, but I've been avidly reading along!

I also figured out that there was no time travel quite a while before it was officially confiirmed; I think me figuring it out was the first huge "holy shit" moment for me

The last couple episodes of A Place Further Than the Universe are so good. The show just does emotional catharsis really well. Though, this is one of those shows also where on rewatches I've really grown to appreciate the development episodes early on. Really I just love the whole thing. Fantastic show if you're into that genre of anime.

Yeah, I've enjoyed watching the development of the main characters, both individually and collectively. Really good cast chemistry. Not sure if I'll put this on the re-watch list, but I've enjoyed it.

Hit another lock in Sekigahara's route in 13 Sentinels. The "real" Sekigahara was a professional assassin, which makes sense. So when the kaiju take control of every terminal in every sector, that activates a hard reset, and this happens every 16 years. People get reborn, unless they manage to shift to Sector 0 before the reset. Then they can continue as "adults," but they're also no longer really human. They're simulated personalities. I still don't get the point of Operation Aegis since it stops the loops (or how they've gotten everyone on board with it), but I also don't get why they want to loop the "timelines" repeatedly either. Feels like there's still a lot I'm missing!

I've broken Hijimiya's lock, so let's continue with him.

I watched the first episode of the Kaguya-sama dub. I do appreciate that the VAs lean into the over the top nature of the show.

Hit a lock on Hijiyama in 13 Sentinels, but not before learning some pretty major stuff. Of course Okino is responsible for the creation of the kaiju. And it turns out that even the "real" Juro Izumi is a cold-blooded killer, but the "real" Hijiyama managed to kill him and the "real" Ogata. That was quite a scene. And the current Juro Izumi is trying to kill everyone with nanomachines/innerlocitors in the hopes that it'll stop the kaiju from ever being called, which sounds like an admirable goal. However, Okino says that only 20% of their function is dedicated to the D-Code, but we don't know what the other 80% is doing.

I was able to unlock Miura's and Sekigahara's routes again. Let's start with Miura.

All right, finished Miura's and Sekigahara's routes in 13 Sentinels. Didn't learn anything new from Miura, but hoo boy, Sekigahara's was a gold mine. This explains why Operation Aegis is a necessity, even though it's basically a lose-lose scenario. Because the "real" Sekigahara basically blew up the space colony in order to kill the "real" Morimura, they don't really have the resources to keep looping the sectors and another defeat at the hands of the kaiju will delete all the data stored in Sector 0 as well. It feels like humanity is extinct in either scenario, but at least they get to go out on their own terms if Operation Aegis succeeds. Major Nier vibes from all this.

Oh, and we learned that black market nanomachines sold by the "real" Morimura leading to a global extinction pandemic, which feels relevant to our "real" world!

Anyway, that's all I can do in the story mode until I clear the second area in battle!
