All right, final thoughts on the 13 Sentinels ending. So according to the mystery files, it's been 20 million years since humanity went extinct on Earth, which makes sense considering how far they've traveled. They also suggest that there have been around 300 total loops. That would mean they've been on this planet for, what, 5000 years, if each cycle lasts about 16 years before the kaiju destroy everything and force a reset?

I guess the terraforming would take a long time, but still, Morimura and Kurabe say that they planned on the process of getting them prepared for life on their new planet to take 20 years. So then my big question is, what happens to the "real" people inside the pods when the cycle resets? Do they die and the ship creates another clone? I guess that's the implication considering they reenter each loop as newborns.

Like I said, my wife would occasionally drop in and get intrigued by the storyline, so she wants to watch the story eventually. I'm not sure if I want to just watch them in chronological order from the Event Viewer, which would probably help me understand the plot better, but it might be confusing for her, or if I just want to replay each character's story mode. Either way, I'll be looking forward to it!

Yeah iirc each failed generation would die at a reset (and there was also the implication that this same situation could be happening countless other places with other clone colonies I think?)

Yeah, theoretically it should be happening everywhere they sent these probes since Shinonome sabotaged the D-Code before they sent them off. Makes me wonder how it plays out elsewhere, if the others never break the cycle or if they all eventually do.

So is this arc going to end with Piccolo becoming the new guardian of Earth? Sure feels like it.

also why are the former guardians such jerks

There's actually a new event in the event viewer for 13 Sentinels once you hit 100% completion if you didn't go back in there to look. I didn't and had to look into it a few days later.

I worked in a Toys R Us part time some years ago before starting college. There was one day where a 3-4 year old girl handed me a drawing as she had decided to make that for whoever sold her new toys to her. It's just a small random thing from a stranger but it really made my day.

We flew from St. Louis to Chicago (somehow this was cheaper than just flying directly from Chicago), and thankfully, our connecting flight was only two gates down. I've been through the Atlanta and Chicago airports, and they both suck!

Aloha, everyone.

In mundane news, on the flight, I played a couple of chapters of the first Famicom Detectives Club game. Despite the fresh coat of paint, the old point and click style feels its age a bit, so I'm only playing in short bursts.

I watched a couple episodes of Ted Lasso (since that was all they had available). Seems like a cool show, but I'll never know how the rest of it goes unless it comes off of Apple TV...!

And then I finally watched Toy Story 3 for the first time. While the ending was really poignant, I think the first one is still the best overall.

I'm on Chapter 5 of Famicom Detectives Club, and the story has definitely picked up. The gameplay is still kind of annoying because it's never clear how to trigger the next scene. Sometimes you have to talk about the same topic multiple times, or sometimes you have to talk about topics in the "correct" order, so I'm just clicking everything over and over in hopes of eventually doing the right thing.

F/GO: Okay, I knew this was bound to happen eventually, but I always secretly believed it to be a meme.

Don't have Salieri so I figured I'd throw some tickets at the Extra Class Banner to get him since it's basically the Salieri banner. First ticket Sitonai lol. If you told me it'd take 6 tickets to get Salieri I'd have been annoyed. If you told me it'd go: Ticket 1 - Sitonai, Ticket 2 - Heaven's Feel (first), Ticket 4 - Origin Bullet (also first) I'd have broke out into laughter.

Yeah, it's a point and click murder mystery game. It's pretty straightforward so far, so I wouldn't expect it to unleash some quirky gameplay mechanic like Ghost Trick.

I've finished up through Chapter 5 of Famicom Detectives Club (I guess I should call it The Missing Heir since there's two games). Just a couple of theories so far: The guy who "found" the MC has to be involved in all this somehow. He might be this Kazuto Ayashiro guy, but he's probably at least the person the MC was supposed to meet at that cliff. The game has made a point of mentioning that no one ever goes there, so the fact that he just so happened to pass by and find the MC seems too coincidental.

It's also strange that the game made a point of mentioning that the MC is borrowing a shirt from the guy who found him because the shirt he was wearing at the time of his accident got "dirty." There has to be some sort of incriminating evidence on or in that shirt, but I guess we'll see!

Persona 5 Strikers beated.

This was a good sequel to P5. Well, IIRC Atlus says it's officially a sequel even if gameplay wise it is very different. Also from this point forward I am officially assuming combat in Persona games is actually like this and just portrayed as turn based in the mainline series.

Konoe and Ichinose were both really good antagonists though in very different ways. The Konoe fight was hype as hell and the Ichinose scenes in the Jail of the Abyss were A++++. Both when she was in command of the situation ("It's been real, Phantom Thieves.") and especially when Sophia got through to her in the end. EMMA is basically Yaldabaoth 2.0 just not as much of a jerk but Lavenza explicitly points out that despite the events of P5 the masses basically went right back to the same indolence which is... pretty realistic so I'm good with that. Zenkichi also ended up being a solid addition to the team. I suppose I wish there were a bit more character focused scenes, either just in general or ones like that time in Sapporo where you chose to hang out with someone but eh what can you do.

Might try to blaze through NG+ to go for the Platinum but we'll see, I might decide it's not worth the effort now and move on to the next game. Was gonna be Nier but since the current hotness in this topic is 13 Sentinels maybe I'll bump that up a spot instead.

P5S good times. I would've liked more character-focused scenes, but the game was already plot-heavier than I expected to be, so I won't complain too much, there. I liked Emma and Ichinose a lot. And you could already tell the fight scenes aren't turn-based from the anime!

also lavenza sucks justine/caroline rule

I actually just finished Nier Replicant 1.5 a few days ago! Pretty much the same as the original, with some good improvements. It would've been nice to get more improvements (replaying the game for ending C sucks), but at least the combat's nicer. All the extra voice acting is great, the music's better, and it looks better too. The new content is cool as well, but unfortunately one of them is in the section that's mandatory to replay so it extends the B and C route playthroughs a good chunk.

Played through Miles Morales after that. Cool game, though it feels extremely similar to the original from 2018.
