What is your typical breakfast?

My usual is eggs like this with maple chicken sausage (I'm out right now though).
https://i.imgur.com/vCABeTS.mp4

(egg is an odd shape cause I cook 4 -- 3 for the bf -- at a time in a pan so it fills the pan then I have to cut it in quarters).

Or greek yogurt (vanilla, honey, or banana) with granola and blueberries.

On the weekends I'll do something fancier, like omelettes, huevos rancheros, grits bowls, shakshuka, etc, or go out to brunch somewhere. Though sometimes I'll do omelettes on the weekdays too to use up whatever is in the fridge. But usually always something with eggs.

Used to get breakfast tacos 1-2x a week when I lived in Austin.

(I was going to add an option like "another culturally typical breakfast" since this poll is very specific to American/many western cultures, but having that and "something else" seemed like that could cause confusion)

You think Pancakes and Waffles are 'Sweet' (w/o Syrup, that is)?

But on topic, either Cold/Box Cereal with Milk or a Pastry like Donuts, Cinnabon or Apple Fritters...

Yeah because pancakes and waffles usually have some sort of syrup, or whipped cream, or fruit...sorry if I offended you lol. Was a big catch all. Pancakes and waffles I categorize as sweet, but not like as sweet as donuts or cinnamon rolls.

I also just don't really have a sweet tooth so my categorization there might be biased >_> like I was also conflicted because yogurt and cereal can be sweet too lol..but those seemed less related.

moneyshot :)

also it's Vital Farms (based from Austin, TX!). I like the orange-y looking yolk more than that pale yellow in others. Going to our farmers market this weekend though so will pick up some eggs from there :o haven't been there since pandemic for no good reason (just been doing a lot of instacart).

2 fried eggs, hard set, with kosher salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
2 strips of thick cut uncured bacon, heated to just under sandwich quality doneness (still slightly chewy, but mostly crispy).
1 large banana
Glass of iced tea, either with a little lemon or peach juice for flavoring.

Well, I normally eat like a child so if we've got Cinnamon Toast Crunch I am eating that, but we've always got Cheerios and Special K's Fruit & Yogurt around too.

And I love those real eggs with the orange yolks. There's something about them that is... richer that I love. I miss working with someone that had chickens and brought eggs to work for us to take.

I really like this thick cut maple bourbon bacon we get (I cook it crispy, don't like chewy, don't like burnt). But it's so expensive and we always go through it so fast lol..so it's a once in awhile thing.

In all seriousness, not a big breakfast person. Idk why, but I usually wake up with my stomach feeling unpleasant and that turns me off from eating for the first few hours of my day. When I do opt for breakfast it's usually something small, like a bagel and a banana, or a small bit of oatmeal. When I was meal prepping I sometimes had some chia seed pudding I'd eat with breakfast. I grew up being conditioned to think I was allergic to eggs (I had a few reactions as a kid, but at this point I can confirm I'm not allergic), so now the smell of them repulses me and any time I try to eat just like an egg or omelette I have a mental block against it. It's a bit of a bummer, because I like the idea of eggs: a quick, cheap, easy source of protein. Maybe one day I'll figure out how to like them.

@SunWuKung420 I remember back in the old egg topic, I was confused by what's over easy vs over medium because I thought runny yolk == over easy, but I don't like runny whites and you said that's over medium. Would you say this is over medium then? No runny whites, but runny yolk.

Google images is confusing because some over medium look way more cooked than this, some look like this, and some over easy look like this so idk what to believe other than I like runny yolk and not runny egg whites lol..

Naan pizzas. I usually make two because the pan is big enough and it uses just as much electricity to make two as it does one. But I usually only eat one (or more accurately, two halves because I make two different kinds of pizza at a time).

One with bacon and pesto, one with eggs.

One with pepperoni, one with spam and corn.

One with pepperoni, one with salami

One with bacon, one with extra cheese

I made a fantastic pizza recently with chicken, bacon, ghost pepper ranch, and asiago, parmesan, romano, and mozzarella cheeses.

In my opinion and personal/professional experience, over medium eggs are fully cooked whites with as much runny yolk as possible.

The egg you posted is a great over medium.

It wasn't a taste I had to acquire, I enjoyed it the first time I had it. Did you try it hot or cold? Cold mate (terere) with a small amount of sweetness (honey or agave, or I guess a bit of sugar if that's what you got) is probably the tastiest way to consume it, but I tend to just drink it warm and I still like it.

It's a plant. You're brewing the leaves when you make yerba mate. Similar to tea.

Coffee and energy drinks get me way too wired and tend to exacerbate my anxiety, but tea and mate tends to give me a smooth caffeine buzz. I have noticed if I sweat more or not though drinking mate, I'll have to pay closer attention.

Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal. It's good for you and you can throw bananas or other fruit in there and it's EZ to make in the morning quick before work. It also keeps you full for a long time in case you have to wait longer to get lunch. Also drink 1-2 500mL bottles of water so I'm relatively hydrated even if I forget to drink water during the day.

Weekends usually a typical egg dish like cheese omelette, scrambled eggs, etc with hashbrowns and toast w/orange marmalade and OJ. 'Golden Breakfast'. Sometimes fresh blueberry waffles or just honey bunches of oats cereal.

Ah, yeah, if you're going for the commerical variety I wouldn't recommend most the carbonated ones (I do like the cranberry pomegranate flavor from Guayaki though). In terms of ones sold in stores, the ones that come in cans aren't the most traditional and tend to be mixed with juices and sweetened, but some of them aren't bad. The ones that come in glass bottles are closer to true terere, particularly the unflavored ones. The unflavored sweetened terere from Guayaki was my first experience with yerba mate.

You can also buy it loose leaf to brew it yourself. Guayaki is pretty easy to find, but if you want to find some of the brands more popular among enthusiasts you'll need to check out a specialty store that carries South American products. Also, if you do opt for this way, do NOT buy the teabagged yerba mate from Guayaki. Despite all the similarities, yerba mate is not tea and the amount they put in each bag is pathetic. In South America they fill a whole gourd full of mate and hot water and use a special straw called a bombilla that filters out the leaves when they drink. A teabag isn't going to be enough to taste it, let alone get the energy buzz most people desire from caffeine.
