Over the last year we saw the production of new graphics cards, phones, consoles, TVs, cars, fridges, ect... decline while demand increased due to people being home more. On top of that, portions of the population received stimulus benefits were able to be used for luxuries. tldr; Less people to make stuff. New shiny stuff comes out. Lack of exclusives - Exclusives are the reason to buy any new console for me. Controller design - For now sure. In time third part developers will design alternatives if a controller isn't something you get along with. You can actually buy mods for the controller that changes the black to whatever you want so things move fast. I'm in no rush to buy a PS5 right now but will inevitably get one. Why would I buy a system to play games I could play without buying the system? Granted, when you start looking at generation gaps, you're generally going to have to buy something to play the new generation's multiplat games, whether it's one of the consoles or a PC upgrade, but even then, this generation doesn't have much by way of games that are exclusive to it yet, so there's little incentive to upgrade.
