What's there to explain? It's a goofy gimmick song. Just think back to what your folks said about "Baby Got Back" in the 90s.

The world was different in the 90's. While the internet existed you not only had to listen to a radio station that would play it, but you would have to know someone who understood the slang/lyrics (which most parents did not). A parent couldn't explain "Baby Got Back" because (1) they would never have heard the song and (2) they wouldn't know what it means anyway.

Right, but what is there to explain? There is a song with inappropriate lyrics? You don't need to go in depth explaining the various forms of innuendo in the song.

Music videos were a thing in the 90s. Almost everybody saw that fucking music video because it was huge.

Well, it's a hard song to explain, unlike WAP.

I'm glad you're not a parent too, TC.

If explaining a shitty song is too difficult for you, and you believe bad music is leading to a decline in morals and values (lmao) then hopefully it stays that way

You don't explain WAP to a child because obviously, that's not something a child needs to know but that all goes back to when movies and game began to get ratings and still kids gained access to them anyway because there's always a way and usually one of your peers exposes you.

People who complain about WAP are simply expressing their sexual insecurities while hiding behind a facade of moral superiority. We get it, you're sexually intimidated by powerful black women. You can just admit it.

I mean the boomer generation put out songs called 'cocaine' and 'stroking', which are songs that are literally about 'cocaine' and 'stroking', yet want to pretend that explicit vulgarity in lyrics is a concept invented by a younger, less reputable generation.

I'd find it a lot easier to explain to my child in 2021 that "WAP" is a sexualized song that they're not old enough to be listening to than it would be to explain to my child in 1960 why black people aren't allowed to use the same water fountain as white people.

I have no need to explain WAP to my kids, who are currently 5 and 6, because WAP is not targeted towards them and I'm a responsible enough parent to not show them things for which they aren't yet ready.

If and when they come across WAP or anything similar, the discussion will be frank in terms they can understand, and without being demeaning.

Also, this. Crying about a freaking song or half of the shit that people cry about these days is just going full Karen. Never go full Karen.
