Yes, I believe it lmao. Considering Amazon would rather have ambulances in the parking lot to assist with heat stroke with employees than air condition their warehouses, I'm fully inclined to believe people were denied bathroom breaks and had to pee in bottles.

I can see that. Pretty much any job where you're stuck on the road and going between customer homes -- where you don't have access to a bathroom -- is probably going to involve a pee bottle.

used to audit the vans for damage in the mornings, saw a bottle with urine about once a week.
last week a driver didn't have time to use the restroom before they had to leave.... they parked in the middle lane, emptied their water bottle and then went into the back of their van... pretty obvious what happened.

team lifts should never be needed at sort centers anyway, since nothing is over 50 pounds. a job requirement is to be able to life up to 50 pounds.
all the people who can't just ask someone for help, and then they lift it themselves.

people are constantly within 6feet anyway...

Given everything you know about Amazon's warehouses, how the fuck do you think they'd manage to even pee in a bottle considering they'd have to take a bottle with them when they're *constantly* on the move and then pee in front of dozens of co-workers nearby at any given moment? The idea that it happens (at least with any regularity) is just straight-up stupidity and people would have to be gaslit hard into believing this was a thing. Anybody who has ever seen any footage of Amazon's warehouses -- let alone had any familiarity with a normal warehouse (which tends to be a LOT slower paced than an Amazon warehouse, considering they don't even stop when somebody dies) -- would immediately flag it as nonsense. Then for drivers, that's kind of a standard practice across a lot of fucking industries and in no way unique to Amazon.

You really couldn't pee in a bottle while out on the floor without several people seeing you. Not only are there people everywhere but there are so many cameras that You'd have a hell of a time finding a spot where you weren't being recorded. Nobody is peeing in bottles in the facility I work at.

I believe it because some people can't put themselves in someone else's footsteps and see the damage they're doing with their actions. Case in point: denying someone who has kidney and/or bladder problems in their employ access to a bathroom when they need to go. While I realize some people take advantage of certain policies, which includes bathroom breaks, most, I believe, don't, and those that do are usually discovered sooner or later. There's no reason to work people so hard that they have to resort to desperate measures just to go to the bathroom.

I've worked at OAK4 (Tracy, Ca) for a little over 5 years and I have yet to encounter a bottle of pee or witness anyone urinating in one

Our center had the two 15 minute breaks extended to 20 (we also get 30 for lunch) so people have extra time to keep clean during covid which gives employees plenty of time to go to one of the 12 bathrooms in building

As far as I know, employees still have a 30 minute time off task (TOT) timer per day, so if you leave your station 5 minute early for break and come back 5 minutes late, that's 10 minutes.. rack up 30 and you'll hear from your manager. A quick bathroom trip doesn't amount to more than a couple of minutes, so if you add that and you're already close to your 30 minute TOT, you'll most likely get a visit from your manager. They dont look too kindly on employees being gone for 30 minutes during a 20 minute break plus an extra 10 for lunch with a 15 minute toilet break

With all that being said, I doubt I'll ever see a bottle of pee simply because most (easily 90%) people they hire dont care enough about their jobs to stay at their work stations. Employees wander around, go to the break rooms for a snack, track down their friends, find any excuse to go to HR or the onsite sickbay and sometimes sneak outside for a quick smoke and/or shot of whatever they have in their flasks

We have so many problems, peeing in bottles isn't one of them.

Edit : Forgot to mention there are cameras on every work station, stair well, break room etc. Everyone's aware that they're being watched at all times

I think people who drive as part of their job in general can run into an issue where they cant find a bathroom to use easily. Especially if they are in very residential areas that dont have portable toilets and if they drink a lot of liquids. But this is just speculation.

It's kind of amazing how many cameras they have in these places. I have access to the system and regularly have to watch people on them. I can follow them from their car, into the building, across the floor, up the stairs and to their station without ever losing sight of them. If only the numbering system for the cameras made any damn sense it would make following people much easier.

I worked at one for a very short bit. I totally believe it.

There was only one bathroom with two stalls for each sex (4 total) and it was a good 5-10 minute hike and not well marked either. If I had to use the restroom it would have been a decent walk one way only to arrive at a location that always had at least one person waiting to use the stalls and then a 5-10 minute hike back. When they're letting you know how you rank compared to other employees I can totally see someone opting to pee in a bottle to try and cut out 10-20 minutes of walking and waiting to try and keep their rank from falling.

It's what happens when you value your robots more than your employees.

I don't know if it's in some or all Amazon facilities, but they have generic pain killer dispensers on tap for free across the facility and brand names available for purchase the break room. I read about this in Nomadland, where it describes a lot of elderly nomadic people get seasonable jobs for the holidays at Amazon facilities. Amazon supplements their trailer spots. But a lot of these places are in such cold places the preferred shift (all 12 hour shifts btw) are overnights so that you're in warmed environment during the coldest period of the 24-hour cycle. Also, their sewage lines regularly freeze and get backed up because most trailers/RVs are not designed for the cold. Due to the strain most their days off are spent trying to alleviate their aching bones and their sore for months after the job ends, but it's all worth it because the money allows them more freedom the rest of the year... It's not the only job described in the book, but it was certainly the most dystopian and hellish.
