the timing is ridiculous, or maybe there's some input lag idk but my reaction time is above average and I kept missing the big fish

and whenever I did get a good rhythm going the RNG screwed me and wouldn't give me the bait for the big fish, and he caught 3 chunkers and got like 1200 points! The next round I won without him even cracking 1000 so I guess the RNG karma balanced out but I was temporarily heated

Anyway back to the main quest. Team is Ries/Estelle/Olivier/Anelace. Finally, Olivier has his harem

Comes down to pure reaction time and ome people just don't have it. It is pretty strict, my catch rate wasn't great.

The Cold Steel fishing was a lot easier for me. Particularly 3/4

why is this random mob (Arch Devil) so hecking strong and fast yeesh

he can almost one shot all my characters and I can hardly get a turn in between his attacks, not to mention all the status ailments. Everything else in this area is pretty easy to deal with so I don't think I'm underleveled

Renne is now a member of my party. The box art gave away that she (and Richard) were playable so I'm not surprised. I don't really get why all the party members like her so much but oh well. Also side note it's funny when Ries was about to scuffle with her Tita's like "You know she's not a bad person!" Bruh her name is the Angel of Slaughter

Somehow I ended up in a saloon playing poker and blackjack. RNG is not my friend but I got through it!

Chapter 5 beated!

Those spiders were like those kids that claim all the powers when playing super heroes. We all knew that kid. So I tried to kill them all as fast as possible but didn't see the mama spider coming (I really should have expected something like that). I only had petrify protection on two characters because on my first attempt it only petrified me once in about 10 tries but on the second attempt they spammed that delay attack and it petrified almost every time. I did manage to win, but unfortunately Olivier and Anelace got no EXP as they had fallen in battle :(

The stone is blue this time! And it contains that woman who's identity we stole in SC!

Colorless School finished! The music was hauntingly beautiful and reminded me of FF7 for some reason. Fighting all the black knights was a little tedious because I just did the same thing every time.

The game came up with a good excuse for fan service battles and I'm not complaining! Raven was easy, and Phillip himself wasn't hard but his goons were a royal pain. I thought silencing them was a good strategy but I think that made them hit even harder and faster. So I went with the tried and true method of S-Break spam to get rid of them immediately and it was smooth sailing from there

Chapter 6 feels like it'll be a long one

I definitely didn't get stuck for 4 hours but it was pretty tough. Are you using earth wall and kevin's earth wall s break? They're pretty important to just have up as much as possible for any tough fights. Use items that boost kevin's CP and make sure whoever is on earth wall duty has cast materia and you should be good

Oh also, I'd recommend using Richard if you aren't. I spammed his one craft that has a very low delay, if you boost his speed as high as possible then he can sometimes go 4 times before Cassius goes so he will be your damage while everyone else provides support

Yeah I tried all of these things! If I stayed close enough together to use Earth Wall he just AoE'd me to death. Also he has that delay attack which makes his ridiculous speed even harder to deal with. I tried spreading out and using the single target one but I couldn't say ahead of him, especially since he has a full screen attack so I can't just keep one character protected. I had three characters with Earth Wall and Cast 2. I mean it worked until he buffed himself and then it went downhill fast

I had the level 5 speed quartz (Onyx I think?) and Clock Up EX on everyone, and Zodiac. Also using Mueller assist for the speed boost. I even gave Kevin the accesories to boost his CP gain. But once he got that STR/SPD buff on he would just start mowing me down. I really don't know what you're supposed to do after he does that

Richard is required for this part, and yeah I was doing that too.

I ended up turning the difficulty down and beat him. I saved it in a new slot in case I'm too proud to continue, haven't decided yet

I didn't actually have much trouble with that fight

but the final Sun Door 3 fight in the arena was absolutely crazy

I definitely had more trouble with Cassius then that fight, even though you'd think it would be the other way around. Getting endgame and having access to everything made it pretty much a breeze though, I beat it second try

I did it! As expected I couldn't live with myself lowering the difficulty like a scrub so I reloaded my save and tried again. I equipped the heat-resistant boots for +15 speed on everyone which may have been the difference. I was hesitant to use them because the low defense but I didn't get hit enough to matter much. Once I got him under 20k I popped one of those 200 CP capsules and hit Sakura Morning Moon on a critical turn for victory. It was very satisfying

Defense really doesn't matter that much in Trails especially on the higher difficulties, speed is waaaaaaay more important, yeah.

Yeah speed definitely breaks trails games

it's weird that speed is so much lower than the other stats. Like I wouldn't even blink at 15 attack, defense, ATS, etc. cause they're at 2000+ but speed is like 100 so I guess 15 makes a pretty big difference!

Silver Thorn is silly. For the Capua bros battle, I just confused the minions and let them do most of the work for me

The Enforcers battle was pretty easy

It was pretty obvious the Black Knight guy was Loewe, but it was probably meant to be obvious. At least now I know why he was "alive", though. As for the battle, it wasn't too hard, I just hit his Dragon mech with Clock Down and went to work. I got a little worried when he started making clones, and then hit me with an unexpected 2nd S-Craft I barely recovered from, but I managed to beat him first try. As he faded out, I think Joshua's sister appeared behind him for a second? Gave me chills tbh, that was a nice touch

Haven't had time to play the last couple days, but I just started Chapter 7. I kind of thought the Lord of Phantasma might be Rufina but also thought it was too out there. Guess it wasn't!

Ries was so cool in that scene. She did not care at all that she was being sent to hell basically. She's just like "yeah I'll get out whatever"

This is probably the moment in the series where you're most grateful for low-level people getting scaling EXP.

Oh wow this final dungeon is terrible. Why in the world did they decide to make you fight all the bosses after doing the whole thing? I mean, it would be a bit better if you could change your equipment and orbments between battles, but you're expected to optimize your parties and equipment without knowing what enemies are coming up, and if you messed up anywhere or went in underleveled with one of your parties you have to re-do the entire dungeon. This is a contender for worst final dungeon of all the games I've played tbh

The rest of the game was good though

I dunno, I'm usually so strong by the end of a Trails game that nothing the main game throws at me is going to beat me, even if I don't know exactly what's coming, so I don't remember the end of 3rd being a problem.

I enjoyed the 3rd final dungeon, it felt like a real conclusion. 2nd was more epic but 3rd forcing you to use everyone was nice

My main party probably is! I haven't gotten to the final boss yet though. I died to the first one once and haven't tried again. They did fine in the actual dungeon but they're kind of weak to fight the boss. I did level up my other characters a bit but they're still weaker, plus I wasn't going to grind the sepith necessary to unlock all their slots and get the best quartz. Usually I would optimize my equipment/quartz better and try again but in order to do that I have to re-do the entire dungeon. It wouldn't be hard (especially with the Cloak quartz) but it would be incredibly tedious

Just take an hour and grind everyone in the hell area with one high level guy to carry. That's what I did and the final dungeon was a breeze

I did this but evidently not long enough. I'll have to resort to going back if I can't get through this boss gauntlet but I'd rather not
