I mean, they happen concurrently so you hear about events from the other region in each game. Playing Cold Steel first will spoil you on events happening in Zero/Ao too, both from (optional) newspaper articles and NPC chatter as well as 100% mandatory main plot stuff.

There's no real perfect solution there. I'd recommend release order personally but I'd say do whatever you prefer.

I disagree. With Azure, you could cut a few minutes off the ending and it would be much better and less spoilery.

It's stuff for the whole arc. You'll either spoil Azure by playing Cold Steel or spoil Cold Steel by playing Azure, but you'll have much less spoiled for Cold Steel by playing Azure than the other way around because Cold Steel assumes you played Azure first.

Yeah, the spoilers from Azure aren't shocking or anything, and in fact may be a bit misleading, since some things go down a bit unexpectedly in CS. You should be fine.

It's just something that a remake that takes CS into account could maybe fix, that's all.

IMO, Trails games have pretty bad endings in general (or at least, they have severe flaws). 3rd and Zero probably the ones that I like the most without any reservations? CS4's was mostly excellent, though I hated a couple things about it (those things may not bother other people). 3rd's ending just plain great though. High tier RPG ending.

Episode Kloe was very long but pretty good! Now that I've finished them all, I still don't agree that they're the main draw of the game but I'm glad I watched them. My favorites were Moon 4 (young Estelle and Joshua), Star 8 (Olivier and Osborne), and Star 15.

NFUN is meming but he is correct that there's one particular line which is infamous/controversial within the community for various reasons and has become sort of a meme. (There's a line where Randy says "bruh moment" which gets a lot of attention because some people find it hilarious and other people make angry comments about it, etc.)

If you want to play the game in English you should definitely use the Geofront version but if the Japanese version works for you then I don't see a reason not to just stick with that.

Yeah don't worry about the Cold Steel spoilers from Azure, they're really not that big of a deal.

Also if you don't play Nightmare the rest of the series you'll likely just end up bored because the games are generally super easy for 95% of them from here on out!

I only play Nightmare on my NG+ runs. Normal/Hard is fine for me since the highlight of the series is the story and characters, not the gameplay.

Shouldn't have to suffer through boring and easy gameplay to get to those highlights when you can just fix that with a toggle called 'nightmare', at least to an extent.

And I disagree somewhat in general because I think Trails' JRPG gameplay is some of the best in the entire genre, just its not usually tuned very well.

I don't find Trails gameplay to be boring, but I also don't need a challenge to have fun with it.

I don't think I'm at the point of Hard being to easy, unless it's significantly easier than 3rd. I would think if you're playing for story, getting stuck on a boss for a long time would be a huge bummer so it makes sense to play on Normal/Hard.

I agree with your second point though, gameplay is probably the highlight of the series for me. I know I'm in the minority there though!

I have finished the prologue and started Chapter 1. I think getting past the beginning might be the hardest part because your options are so limited. So far this game rocks and I like all 4 party members. Lloyd definitely seems like my type of character and I think he'll end up being my favorite.

Estelle and Joshua showing up at the beginning of chapter 1 was a nice surprise. Well, I'm not surprised they're in the game but I wasn't expecting them to show up so soon. I can't wait to see how they are utilized in this game. As I was going around collecting books for the library, I found their apartment. Before I saw the staff, I saw the large collection of shoes and thought "this must be Estelle's place"
