I kept a save file to do them later... They're really long and I'm impatient! Although I'm sure the rewards would help with the final dungeon...

I had an epiphany at lunch: I work from home, so I just grinded everyone to 130+ while working because it doesn't take much attention. Just when I thought I was done I realized I legitimately forget to level up Josette. Oh well

I'm not really skipping them, I've just always been the type to get through the main quest first before focusing on side stuff, hence why I asked if there was a cutoff for any of them earlier.

There are definitely some good doors but saving them all to do all at once sounds like it could get tiring. Balancing them evenly throughout the entire game would have been better

If I could do the door when I found it, I usually did. But I only went back for a few. So it's not all of them!

I have beated Trails in the Sky 3rd

It was solidly my favorite of the Sky games until the final dungeon. I think it"s still above the first two but it's closer now. The ending was good though so that helped relieve the sour taste in my mouth!

Star Door 8 (Olivier and Mueller) was pretty rad but the rest haven't been all that great. Not bad but certainly not better than the main game. I'll withhold judgement until I finish though

5 star doors left (6, 9, 12, 14, and 15) and 4 moon doors (all but the first one)

I do love the doors overall, but chapter 7 of the main game was still probably the highlight for me.

Also, don't really agree with the way people are talking down the main game in general. It's true that I don't really think treating the doors as "side content" is the correct way to look at the game, but acting like the main game doesn't matter also seems wrong. Even taken on its own merits, it's obviously more involved than any particular door, which means at worst you can treat the story on equal footing with the stories in the doors. But also the main game of Sky The 3rd is to this date the closest look we've gotten at the inner workings of the Church and whatever secrets they have, which is important for contextualizing some events later on in the series and is also looking to be more important than ever moving forward.

Also for the most part I think you're missing most of the better doors from the game with what you say you've done now, though I did quite like Moon Door 1 as well as Star Doors 3/8/13.

This is certainly true for some of them, like 8, but I just did Door 9 with Lila and Maybelle and idk what else you call that besides side content. So far it seems like a few of them are really relevant and the rest are nice little bonus stories, not that that's a bad thing. I also agree with you on the main game, I really enjoyed Kevin's arc and Ries is great.

Tbh Sky FC failed to hook me when I first played it and I dropped it around Bose. Then I played Cold Steel which was excellent but everyone here strongly suggested I play Sky and Crosbell before continuing so here I am

The whole first part is cut out and it starts with Joshua and Loewe raiding the place. The picture of Renne with cuts all over her body was also removed and replaced with a black screen. I think the rest was the same though. I ended up watching the full thing on YouTube, good lord almighty that was dark. I feel like I better understand why Renne is the way she is though

PS3. Apparently they cut it out of the the later releases because it was too graphic or something, but I guess the Steam version is the original PC version. It may have been removed to avoid an adult rating from the Japanese equivalent of the ESRB

Sky 3rd completely changed my perspective on Renne as a character

in SC she kinda just seemed like "haha psycho little girl with giant robot one hits the party good meme" to now I actually feel really bad for her

Right. I was thinking about mentioning that the other day but couldn't remember what version you were playing (in retrospect, I should have remembered you encountered the glitched version of that one fight) and didn't want to tip you off with the whole "censored" thing.

Falcom censored Star Door 15 in every re-release of 3rd beyond the original PC release. The English localization/Steam release is based off the original PC release and so has the uncensored version of the Star Door.

I remember dowolf mentioning at one point that the censored version was a bit of a mess with how it just cut out entire sections.

The Sky games were originally released on PC, yeah. They then got PSP ports. ...Then PS3 ports based on the PSP ports (through that PS3/PSP remaster thing in Japan that literally wouldn't fly in the US because no trophies of all things). Then Vita remakes in the style of the Crossbell Evolution remakes that added full voice acting and changed the character art and music along with some other gameplay tweaks.

Zero and Ao were originally released for PSP however. They would both get Vita remakes in the Evolution versions. Zero would get a PC port which was actually based on a Chinese version but in backporting it, Falcom stripped out the DRM that existed in that version. Ao never got, to my knowledge, the same official treatment (though a Chinese PC version by the same company exists) by Falcom. Zero/Ao also got PS4 remakes with some additions that incorporate some added continuity with Cold Steel (such as including some Cold Steel characters in Crossbell when it would make sense for them to have been there.... just they didn't exist at the time Zero/Ao were first developed.)

CS1/CS2 were PS3/Vita first. CS3/CS4/Hajimari made the jump to PS4 and dumped Vita (and that's why there's no CS2 -> CS3 transfer)

Oh thats disappointing to hear, I was waiting on the Azure translation to finish and I was going to play that as soon as it came out, then start Cold Steel after. Is it better to play Cold Steel first?

I mean, it's a spoiler in the same sense that knowing Anakin becomes Darth Vader going into Star Wars 1-3 is a spoiler.

It's kind of a "duh" spoiler, not something I'd say that really needs fixing. In order to not make it obvious you'd have to change more than just the ending.
