Pokmon fandom also has the opposite problem where when people have legit complaints they get shouted down as haters.

Early polling trends are showing that 60% prefer Legends, 23% prefer Snap, and 16% prefer DP remake.

Snap is just not shiny and new right now, it might well still end up being the most well-received game of the three. Though it does look... incredibly similar in gameplay to the original.

I guess I really am the odd one out then because yea Legends did not really interest me especially with that framerate. The best thing about it to me were the starters, legit 3/3 great choices and my all time fav Pokemon in the mix so that's really cool

Legends has a lot of potential. Like 10 year old me would've lost his mind about this, unfortunately I just don't trust Game Freak to do it right.

I think lore wise it's going to be amazing, but with bare bones content and gameplay. I hope they prove me wrong

Don't get me wrong, if Snap is just like the original but bigger it will be a fun time. Just thought there'd be more advancements in the 20 year gap they had!

I am also happy at Cyndaquil finally getting some love (I like Rowlet too but he's not been as tossed aside as Cynd). It's easy to see the many potential pitfalls for Legends but it's at least giving people something new (hopefully!).

Legends could be great if they pull it off, but does anyone honestly have faith they will? It looked pretty rough for a game coming out early next year and given their history with Sword/Shield theres probably no reason to believe it will look/run too much better than what they showed either >__>

I hope people wont be too down on the remakes or we wont keep getting next generations.

Sword and Shield has starters from gen 1, 8 and then 3 and 7 available, while we get 4 in BDSP, so I'm surprised the starters in Legends are from 2, 5 and 7, rather than 2, 5, and 6, but it's a good group.

We all know if Legends doesn't do well and is poorly received, that instead of looking to why the games didn't actually do well and how they fucked up, they'll just be like... oh it's because we didn't have enough Charizard, Pikachu and Kanto.

So then their response will be to give us more of that lol

Well I think they chose those starters to match the aesthetic. Decidueye and Samurott very much fit the time period they were going for. I imagine the fire would've been Infernape, but I have a feeling the Sinnoh starters can be found in the wild.

I like the chibi style. It looks like an actual upgrade. They were never going to win, anyway. If it looked anything like Sword and Shield, people'd bitch it's more Sword and Shield. If it looked anything like Let's Go, people'd bitch that it's too close to Let's Go.

So this remake will have the lake trio cut, heatran/cresselia/regigigas cut, more psyducks blocking paths to make it more linear, and volkner's gym is now just a storage container

This is so true. But the thing is, that the older you get, the less excited it is (at least for me)
I remember there is a location in Sonic Adventure 1 that used to blow me away. I think it was the Angel Island or somewhere nearby, it was just a vast and empty grass. And for some reason I found it very impressive. Like it was one of my first experience with free roam 3D game and I was like "whoa". But it was just a damn empty green grass

There is also the Delta Force series (which I am sure nobody here heard about) that I used to like a lot even though the gameplay sucks. You are dropped off on a empty place and need to make your way to the enemy camp. Which is full of copy pasted tents or empty buildings.
And yet I loved it. I didn't care that the overworld was empty and I waste my time walking on a empty terrain. I liked it.

Now give my 13 years old me something like Pokemon Legends? I would have been so excited for it. The idea of a open world with Pokemon in it. Gameplay? who cares. I would just take my time walking around, seeing everything.

Sadly as I grew older those things stopped being exciting for me.
I no longer understand the appeal of a open world Pokemon game.

I think Legends could work and have huge appeal. I just dont think GameFreak is up to the task. People would love an open world Pokemon game that was full of life and content and stuff.

But if it means we get a remake with new pokemon/ on par with the original it will be better than something like let's go, which was unfinished and buggy and worse than the original in every conceivable way

I'm not really seeing the excitement for Legends. It looks just like a bigger Crown Tundra but released as its own game.

And I would certainly hope the graphics are still in alpha and will be greatly improved upon (probably not). There seems to be a rendering distance of like 5 feet and there were lots of jarring scenes in the trailer like the Chingling moving at 5fps.

I want to believe we don't really know anything about those remakes and that there are going to be some new surprises
Yes, following Pokemon are probably not back...again
But what about trainer customization? just because Dawn looked the same in every scene it means it won't be in the game? (answer is probably yes)
I mean I don't care about trainer customization or following Pokemon but I feel like this is still too early to tell!

CT was really short and a DLC, which I assume is why it's well received (and probably because Isle of Armor was so bad). A full length 25-30 hours CT would need a lot more content to keep the wild areas engaging.

There are 231 Pokemon missing
43 of them from Gen IV

Would it really kill them to add the remaining 188?
I believe they will pull a ORAS/XY type of compatability

Expanding on this-
There are also 21 Pokemon from Gens 1-3 that are not in SwSh but are in Platinum expanded dex
Bringing the total remaining down to 167

But if we really want to get crazy
The only Pokemon that are not in SwSh and are unobtainable without trading in Platinum are-
Chikorita line, Cyndaquill line, Totodile Line, Clamperl line (of course...)
Bringing the total remaining to a whooping 12

But of course this is assuming they will use the expanded dex, and let you catch Pokemon that were only possible by using the dual slot mode which obviously won't return
But the Great Marsh probably will

So in reality I expect a little less than 100 Pokemon that will not be availble between those remakes and SS

It still has turn-based battling. Possibly ATB/cooldown based? I saw someone posting this picture and saying that's what it said, but nothing in English has corroborated that as far I know.

So after reading plenty of Internet comments-

A lot of people hate the remakes look
A lot of people are excited for Legends

Which is like the opposite of my opinions but ok
But the thing that caught me off is just how many people want to believe that whatever they are not pleased with will actually change
"Maybe they will change the chibi models"
"Maybe they will improve the framerate in Legends"

What? no. They won't
Speaking from years of experience, those don't rarely happen..
I am willing to eat my hat if I am wrong and hopefully I will be, but come on - those flaws are here to stay

Like, I'm not even asking for them to have something as gorgeous as Breath of the Wild, but with the same exact hardware they could be at least 75% of the way there. Where we're at is basically not even at 25%.

BotW was the Switch's only real launch title after the disastrous Wii U, meaning BotW had Nintendo's entire future riding on its shoulders. If BotW bombed, the Switch would have lost a ton of early momentum and potentially have sold way worse long term. Under this much pressure, Nintendo used the entire might of the company to ensure it's as good as possible (like gutting the majority of Monolith to work on BotW, leaving only a skeleton crew to make Xenoblade 2).

Pokemon just doesn't have this pressure. Not to mention, because Pokemon fans are going to buy the games no matter what, GameFreak actually makes more money releasing a subpar product since it'll have a lower development cost. Pokemon Sword/Shield cut a lot of features fans wanted and still sold 20+ million. If GameFreak added all the features fans wanted, it would likely have increased development cost by a good amount, while not resulting in much higher sales.

I think it's like the Sonic principle. The Sonic games started turning into trash after the Sega consoles died and Sonic lost the pressure to carry an entire system on its back.

If you mean GameFreak specifically, I don't think they've every really made Pokemon games with super good graphics. Like probably not much that could be done in the GB or GBC era. But even RSE paled compared to Golden Sun.

If you mean Pokemon in general, I think Pokken looks pretty good and that's not that old.
