This has always been my worry about Gen IV remakes. The gap there is huge, I hope they carry over some of it, but not getting my hopes up. Hopefully, they don't run as slow at least.

I'm assuming it will be like HG and SS, where it's technically Gold and Silver, but was also just Crystal, with new additional content.

I hope that's the case anyway.

My opinions-
The remakes look great graphic wise. I don't care about the chibi look of the characters, it's fine
I actually prefer them to stick to faithful 2D grid rather than try to make the maps soulless 3D like in SwSh
The thing the bothered me is that they didn't say what would be new. Just a graphical remake or...will there be more to it?
I know it was just the initial reveal and we will probably get more information in the future, but still

Pokemon Legends Arceus looks pretty bad graphics wise. The grass look washed out and the FPS suffered a lot there. I am not even a 60 fps type of guy but that was bad
I also don't really understand the gameplay, you go in a empty open world and throw Pokeballs at random Pokemon there?
This is what people wanted for years and all the time I asked "why" and now I still don't get it.
Still, too early to judge. But I respect Gamefreak for actually trying something new

Overall mixed opinions and want to be optimistic

Really hyped for Snap, but I feel like we don't know enough about the other two games for me to get hyped for them.

This is precisely the most important part of it. It was so weird that made so many new evolutions and locked most of them to post game. I appreciate Platinums extended story and post game material, and I'd love that back, but the pokedex part is the most important part.

Legends....man I dunno. Part of me wants to be hype, but what do you really do? Probably arent any gyms and maybe not even any real purpose? The roll was neat, but Ill wait to see how its received. Sword/Shield had issues and BotW was not something I liked and this is sorta like a fusion of the two in a way

Thing I liked about the remakes - HGSS and ORAS - has been the wealth of postgame. HGSS and ORAS just had insane amounts of legendary Pokemon and ORAS had that entire extra "episode" after it. If they do the same with DP I'll be satisfied; if all the postgame is identical to original DP, I'll be really disappointed.

I imagine since Arceus is getting his own game, any postgame content will revolve around Giratina, as ORAS' did around Rayquaza. But I was kind of hoping for some sort of DEOXYS IN SPACE-equivalent-moment in the DP remakes, except with Arceus.

to be fair, Darkrai, Manaphy, and Shaymin are still around
plus the SWSH dlc did that with Keldeo but since actually finding Keldeo involves "Mew under the Truck" tier "You're not finding this without a guide" confusion lol

I don't think it looks bad or anything, but I don't have nostalgia for those games so this doesn't really pull me in on it's own merits. I never played B&W and that seems to be what the majority considers the best gen.

Legends I'll keep an eye on, but that thing was running ay 20ish FPS, and if you specifically look at the Chingling when it appears at 13:50 it's straight up no joke sub 10 FPS. Hopefully just early dev stuff, but SwSh still doesn't run great.

Great selection of starters, though. Cyndiquil is the only time I have ever chosen fire, and even then it's s hard call here.

yeah Legends definitely looks early but then again I really don't get what Legends is yet

I'm just not sure RD/SP is going to have what I like about the remakes. I don't really want just a straight up port with better graphics, I want the old game at heart with updated features to bring it to modern times. They kept hammering home that this is going to be a faithful recreation of D/P, and I suspect we can probably trust them on that and it won't really be anything more.

Art style isn't my favorite, but I don't hate it either. It's the content of the games I'm still worried about.

Also yeah I need to see more about Sinnoh of the Wild before I can be hyped. Game Freak does not inherently have my trust on something like this, lol.

My assumption from the hammering home that it was dumped on a mobile dev is that RDSP is going to be the barest of the bare bones zero risk remake possible.

Also I could see that game straight up actually being ported to mobile one day.

Meanwhile I'm the opposite end of the fandom apparently and I think the remakes look cool and the Legend game doesn't look that great so far! Ah well, alas!

I dont have interest in buying the DP remakes, but for the people who do, I hope it's more than a graphical up(?)grade, and they add/mix in some new content.

Arceus looked like it was struggling, but the idea looks neat, and the attacks looked decent!

This isn't the Let's Go, Bidoof! reveal that I was hoping for, but I guess a D/P remake is the next best thing. The chibi graphics are fine. I hope they bring back the Underground with some sort of online functionality, I used to have a blast with that.

Cautiously optimistic about Pokemon BotW. There's definitely a ton of potential there, but I'm not 100% sold yet based on the trailer. I look forward to finding out more. I mean it can't be too bad if I can pick Cyndaquil as a starter, right?

Biggest complaints with Sw/Sh wasnt the art style though. People were more upset how the game felt unfinished and how tons of Pokemon had been cut.

I honestly prefer this approach to the SwSh look theoretically, but I don't think it looks particularly good for what they're going for. Do I prefer the actual results here versus SwSh? Hard to say just yet.

Like, this DOES look like a mobile game, production wise. Which isn't surprising, it's from a mobile game studio.

Oh, absolutely, but the art style was heavily criticized too. I appreciate them going for a more nostalgic look this time though. I don't think we should think of it as them doing a lazy port.

It's a bit hard to judge much from that Porygon-Z appearance, but hopefully it means good things. I noticed the player character having a Switch instead of Wii, so they're at least not 1 to 1, even if that's the easiest change.

The Pokmon fanbase definitely complains more than most. A good many will complain literally no matter what, they're too greedy. It's not a question of not being able to please everyone.

Oh come off it, the Pokemon fandom absolutely complains more than 90% of other fandoms. It also has one of the largest fandoms yes, but that doesn't excuse just how much people get up in arms about things with Pokemon

I'm probably just old as fuck but the remakes look like they captured the original feel with the chibi overworld models, that's how I always imagined them to look instead of shit like they did from XY going forward
