Yeah for what it's worth AMC when it's not COVID'd is legit a contender to be in this range-- the no bankruptcy announcement was important to make this one safer. You don't really need to feel too scared yet. It's using the same mechanics but it's not like Gamestop just yet. That's part of why I got shares instead of calls with this one. The other part is I saw how crazy the premium was on calls for GME so wanted to be the casino.

I actually don't really follow WSB so I can't help you much there. I just know the following things

1. WSB theory to squeeze GME applies to a lesser extent to AMC because it's highly shorted, and there were murmurings of doing it.
2. AMC has the same kind of resume of GME. It's a well known brand that pops off of small bits of news. Seems very friendly to the kind of rallying GME got.
3. AMC is a viable business with a nice dividend when it's firing on all cylinders, and bankruptcy is off the table. They were in this range or better for every year from the last decade aside from 2020 and 2019.
4. AMC has a fairly small market cap like GME so I feel like it could pop similarly to GME
5. These kind of stocks surge on Friday most due to option expirations, so you want to have this stock on Friday. However given how fast GME moved I kinda expect it to surge tonight too.
6. Lots of eyes and awareness on this now. Fireworks likely just due to that.

I have no idea what their price target is or anything like that, just that I feel very safe to HODL until $30 at least. Your only risk is if somehow the brokers step in to stop it, some sort of regulation steps in to stop it, AMC rushes to do an offering, or the GME short fails (how would it).

Offering is the only thing I'm a bit concerned about but I'm hoping their management knows better. Should be a safe hold through Friday at least.

WSB is making money hand over fist so they can spread themselves a bit. I do think AMC can go much higher than this. Lack of options over $9 is what's containing it today.

But watching WSB "New" tab I can see...tons of names of stocks. People that are drown in losses are trying to pump things. Of course they don't stick, but who knows if some of them actually make spliting money into them

Yeah I'm seeing this too. But I think stocktwits people kept buying AMC without the go ahead from WSB

If WSB stays cohesive, they might be able to keep this up for a decent amount of time

I think spreading out a bit is fine. You're cutting retreat paths by jumpstarting other short stuff. GME might not hit the moon quite as hard but overall more damage to shorters is probably done

This of course assumes GME is a lesson learned and not "haha that won't happen again" which may be giving the big money more credit than they deserve

I like steady good companies and dividend stocks. I also like meme stocks but it's a small part of my portfolio. Everyone is different. You might not make a million dollars on AMC you might not even make a dollar on it because you were tied up in some value stock. We probably over-emphasize some of our successes in this topic... but whatever it takes to motivate you to invest, that's great. Just don't FOMO.

The game might be changed in the future, but not the short term future. And there are probably other places to exploit that we haven't found yet.

Though it may become my style if I successfully cash out of AMC correctly. With a cool 100k sitting I shouldn't need to do nearly as much hotshotting to make good money. I really just wanted to jumpstart my income a bit since well, I've made a lot of poor life decisions along the way so don't have things like a lucrative job or savings. I have stability but that's about it. Of course getting a better job would be nice but I almost consider settling with my job and concentrating on learning stock market stuff more useful since it kinda multiplies your income coming in. That's more valuable than a few more bucks an hour, really.

With 100k sitting I can use everything I learned and make easy low risk money with like 90% of it and keep a little hotshot swing fund with the remainder.

Of course you can lose money with stocks but it's better to lose a little bit of money with bad trading habits than it is to lose all of it by going to Target

Options are "scary" but I think they get a bad rep because of people carelessly doing them naked or picking bad price targets/durations. If you know the price you're aiming for and aggressively sell them when you're green you can control a lot of the perceived risks. Like today I sold 16 of my 20 RKT calls when it went green by 30% to make $100 dollars and have no risk RKT calls in case it goes to the moon later. If I'd just been sitting on them hoping it'd hit my target I'd be down $40 bucks instead. Of course it's still risky in a way (I pivoted those calls into Canada Goose 2/19 $40 calls that are currently -$72 so it doesn't always work that quick) but yeah like I said there are ways to play them if you know what you're basing the price target on and have a good strategy in mind.

And of course selling calls is just reinforcing good cash out habits if you pick your prices correctly and never buy them back. Every stock that goes into my portfolio, should I survive this, will be in multiples of 100. I'm only eyeing one or two that I can't sell calls for.
