nah. RB live on by being glitchy as fuck.

You want to gank Brock with a level 100 Gengar? You can do that.

Want to sequence break and beat Lavender Tower with no Silph Scope? You can do that.

Want to walk through walls? You can do that.

Want infinite items? You can do that.

Want to boost your Pokmons stats to 999? You can do that.

Like the glitches are the most fun part about them.

(Also they have buyable evolution stones, so if youre playing GSC theyre at least good for evolving your Vulpix sometime before the elite 4. >_>)

I didn't watch the video for longer than a minute but it sounds like he only played SM64 for the first time very recently, in which case yeah, I can see why he'd think the game sucks. Many other platformers (including Mario) improved upon it but it was pretty damn revolutionary. Meaning of course it's gonna be a bit rough around the edges.

I just got the game fie the switch. I don't remember me sucking this bad having trouble controlling Mario and not being able to make jumps. Then I let my son play...boy does he suck even worse. Can even get a couple of stars without getting frustrated. I don't remember it being like this when I was a kid lol

I haven't played the Switch release, but the triple jump problems are leading me to believe it's due to the game being emulated and not adjusted for the polling rate. This is a notorious problem for modern controllers running Mario 64 on an emulator with default settings.

It's possible the switch controller is horrible at representing the n64 controller accurately?

He seems to have started the video with an n64 controller in hand, BUT he just said he played it for the first time on the switch and is complaining about the controls as if he played it originally. So which is it? You can only pick one to argue about.

I don't know what to say, but it sounds like a review by a modern gamer spoiled by modern platformers who can't handle the original controls and calls them garbage and trashes the game for it. He compared the game to odyssey and said why mario no move like that? Probably because nintendo LEARNED. Accept the game being a product of its time.

You can cry about the controls being bad but then go to say that speed runners seem to move in ways that imply mastery. Wow, it's almost like you can learn the controls instead of expecting it to be perfect. He is a bit right though about the precision controls on the small platforms. But if you're having that hard of a time hold the Z button or whatever the fuck it is on the switch and CRAWL. BOOM MARIO NO ZOOM OFF PLATFORMS.

I never owned an N64. Played the DS version and it never got me the same way as the 2D Mario titles.

3D Mario best titles are as follows for me...

Mario 3D World
Mario Odyssey
Mario Galaxy (never played 2)

It doesn't suck even the slightest bit, but it definitely is NOT nearly as good as some people here have once claimed. The first 5 levels and some of the Bowser levels are legendary, but SM64 has so many fucking bad/boring worlds in a row. You got fucking Jolly Roger's Bay, a slog fest where you gotta swim much longer than necessary to do terrible missions, you got Hazy Maze Cave, my personal least favorite Mario world of all time, Lethal Lava Land, Snowman's Land, a literal direct downgrade from Cool Cool Mountain, and of course the cream of the crop in terms of terrible Mario world, Rainbow Land, which I don't even see SM64 simps defend lol. It's to the point where Tick-Tock Clock is considered great amongst a sea of terrible late game worlds? Even though that's just a one long obstacle course that you have to do by shitty segments over and over and over.

I've seen people unironically claim it's better than Odyssey or Galaxy 1/2, and honestly if you have that opinion, you're just wrong and literally clouded by nostalgia. If you played the recent triple pack at all and still claim that SM64 is better than even Sunshine, you'd be wrong. Those other 2 games took what SM64 did as a base and magnified it by a fuckfold. Like it isn't even close, and that's the way it should be.

That is to say, I didn't watch the video, and saying it sucks would just be wrong as well. It perfected 3d movement and map design during an era where that was barely even a thing. It paved the way for almost every relevant game that came after.
