I overheard him as he was talking to a customer; he says that the country is currently under martial law (and the liberal media refuses to tell us), Trump actually won and will be reinstated in March, and that tons of liberals will then be thrown into jail.

Yeah generally it means democratics. But the liberal party is more similar to the republican party.
The idea is that it's for social liberals rather than economic liberals.

Yes.

Arguably, there's three different mutually exclusive definitions for the word in the US. Lower-case "liberal" is the overall political philosophy, while capital "Liberal" is used to describe the political ideology that claims to be "liberal" but generally isn't. And then you've got the original definition of "liberal", which is also referred to as "classical liberalism" these days, but which is essentially what is currently known as "libertarianism" (which is itself somewhat different from the ideology of the people who actually call themselves Libertarians).

And that's not getting into things like how the US skews farther right than most of the rest of the world at the moment, so Europe generally thinks the American Left is too far Right anyway, and gets confused whenever Americans talk about it.

I have a coworker who is convinced there is something major going on with the US related to the Pakistan blackouts, and she showed me some sort of conspiracy shit she was looking at to where Biden wasn't going to be arrested right away or something.

Basically America has liberals who aren't traditionally liberal and conservatives who aren't traditionally conservative. It's why I prefer to use leftists instead of liberals, because most "liberals" run contrary to classical and other actual liberalism.

Rods of God are an actual military thing, whether or not it's actually implemented I'm not sure, but, it shows up occasionally in scifi media.
Basically you have a tungsten rod in orbit, and then drop it directly on the target. About the same explosive capability as a nuclear weapon without the radioactive fallout and the precision of dropping a big stick from orbit with a computer (aka very good), plus, unlike atomic weapons, it won't fail to explode on impact.

I had coworkers literally talking in whispers about march which I'm guessing was referring to that bizarre conspiracy theory calling the nation a corporation. I will say I find it weird that people who were loudly shouting ignorant qanon stuff are now whispering it.

The ones that are loud and proud about it actually have a modicum of my respect. If you truly believe this stuff is right and true, then don't be afraid to stand by it. But no, just like those trying to worm out of prison time for storming the capitol, they're terrified of the "consequences" portion of walking the walk.
