I'm gonna attempt another run, this time with the shield. Any good possible builds?

Safest most beginner shield build has to be ares doom on the special, with chaos aspect if you have it (but not essential). Basically you hide behind the shield for safety and then you release the special which will bounce off multiple targets and give them doom damage. It's a very easy build because you can smack them once and then run around or shield-up while the doom activates.

You can pair this with most things but I think aphrodite is a good one for the attack.

Honestly I kind of feel the opposite in terms of builds. Because of the god keepsakes and the number of choices you get, it's relatively easy to force any build you want without having to really go outside your comfort zone too much if you don't want to. Sure, the weird odds and ends you'll accumulate will be different each time but it's easy to get relatively the same build every game

I was successful! This boon appeared early on, but a hammer upgrade I got at the beginning helped greatly. It was having my special attack hit up to 4 enemies before returning.

That final battle with Lord Hades was intense, but I kept my wits about me and most importantly, my distance. It does kinda suck that Zagerus dies after a few hours on the surface...

trying 32 heat runs and this is just plain ridiculous. I added everything I felt ok with and it only got me up to like 25ish so now I have enemies doing 80% extra damage and moving faster and it sucks lol

anyone who's managed them, what pacts did you take ?

Just got the codex after all, guys, what joy! Unlocked the resources director too; cool. So now I see all these relationships with only one heart, time to keep throwing nectar at these ppl eh? I've pretty much just given one to everyone for their keepsake
Exciting that it feels like I'm still warming up with this game

if you're only after 'upgrades', only certain NPCs give rewards with additional favor. you can max relationships with the others but doing so only gives more story / dialog

Hot damn, good job! After seeing how fun cast builds can be after using Bow w/Hera, I'm definitely trying out the shield and sword cast aspects next time I run those.

Nice! I just beat Extreme Measures Hades for the first time today after failing a few times. Fuck that fight so much.

Made it to Hades himself for the first time tonight (20th run, iirc). Thought I beat him first try, but got blindsided by his second form. I can make it to Theseus rather consistently, but aside from that one run, he seems to have my number (I got lucky with a Flurry Shot/Support Fire combo)

2nd form catches you by surprise the first time but weirdly enough I find it easier than his first form.

I get hit too often by the green shockwaves though.

I had that issue until someone here told me you could dash over the shockwaves. Game changer for me.
Also I always turn my focus to whatever skull or enemy he summons. Hades attacks are slow and easy to avoid. The rest of them are the things that will chip away at your health.

Bruh, Patroclus and Demeter are the only two relationships I still need to max but Patroclus hasnt showed up in like 5 runs (and the last time he did he was with Achilles so couldn't gift anything) and Demeter still hasn't unlocked.

Also about the shockwaves, just rushdown the skulls in the Hades fight and kill them before they pop, they should only take a few hits from any build that got you to Hades

Played some after a long break, and died a couple of times. All of a sudden there were several progressions in dialogue that I had though entirely completed. So either they're hidden behind tons of attempts and I had quit just before I unlocked them, or some dialogue is gated by dying?

wait, were you quitting runs instead of finishing them and dying? dying is how you progress >_>

personally I think you're better off ignoring the skulls, they're just a single dash to dodge on a massive telegraph. I basically only bother breaking them if hades is currently invisible

probably a dumb question here, but can someone tell me what is the significance of when you're viewing your boons, and pressing your main button puts a marker on the boon you're viewing? what's that doing?

it lets you pin them on the screen so you can keep that one visibile without having to mouse over it again

I bring the Skelly companion, and typically use it solely for that part. It's usually not bad, but archers can fuck you over real quick.

No, I was winning, but now I'm rusty so when I attempt high heat (for me) runs I die. The one that speeds up enemies gets me the most, throws my timing completely off.

Nice. I failed when I tried with that aspect, but did some decent wrecking with Hestia. Think I've completed just about everything there is to do aside from grinding out Darkness and Gems for titles and the Contractor, and getting another 10-15 Titan Blood to max all the aspects.

Ah, there is a bit of Dusa plot left over. Not sure if it was supposed to be an early plotline that I skipped due to maxing her relationship too soon (she got fired for talking to me too much), but that does give me some incentive to play a bit longer.

Or I could start over in Hell mode...
