He also said he'd veto the spending bill and hold out for the $2K, then folded a few days later.
After one of the many mass shootings (Vegas?), he said he'd regulate firearms, then recanted a few days later.

Give it time. Every single time he actually says something reasonable or good, he reverses his position within 2-4 days. This will probably be no different.
He does sound thoroughly demoralized and beaten, though. Maybe the Pentagon told him if he doesn't start playing nice and incites more anarchy, they're explicitly turning against him or something and scared him straight....

I don't believe you know what a veto does. A veto does not stop a bill. A veto causes a bill to require a higher vote count to pass. Even with Trump's veto, there was enough votes to pass the $600 instead of the $2000, so him vetoing it didn't matter. Trump actually red-lined the bill and handed it back, but it was ignored because again, there were enough votes to ignore it.

The president isn't all-powerful. You're free to hate on Trump as much as you want but you should also have at least a slim understanding of how our government works and what actually happened.

I do know, quite well.

A veto would've forced another vote and delayed things. This was a monster of a bill passed in a matter of hours w/ no one even reading it before voting, packed with nasty bs.
Forcing it back to Congress would've given constituents time to email and call their Reps/Senators and complain about the bill and pressure people into flipping their votes. Most notably the AOC wing of the Dems, rightfully appalled by the "streaming law" that was snuck in there that has nothing to fucking do w/ spending.
But no, Trump just folded like paper and signed it, b/c he's a coward.

Rather than people jumping ship now, I want to hear anonymous sources state the only reason they're staying on is to protect against the destruction of evidence for the upcoming trials and to serve as witnesses for the Congressional hearings that will be held.
I'd actually fucking respect people who did that, held on in a miserable environment w/ a tyranical administration, just to preserve Democracy.

It's literally impossible to tell what is real and what is fictitious mockery w/ Trump anymore, his entire presidency has been an unending stream of Onion articles.

The thing is most sane rational educated Americans knew Trump was bad from the start but they rode that train until it derailed then they all jumped off and now they're pretending that they are offended by the storming of the Capitol and Trump's role in initiating that.

Race is ugly and the only reason the GOP yelps about voter fraud is when they lose. Go back to Obama and when he won the 2nd term, almost immediately the GOP started yelping about "Voter Ids" and you didn't hear a peep about voter id's when Trump won.

As a result of that video, some conservatives are bitching about him calling them Nazis, when, if they'd bothered to actually watch or listen to the video, he did not. What he does is relay a story about post-Nazi Austria, and the amount of regret, and resulting drinking and abuse, that afflicted so many men who thought they were serving their country. He says that this attack at our capital is too much in line with the events that had happened leading up to the takeover of Germany and Austria before WWII, and that we should all do better so we don't have to relive what his father and neighbors had.
