Choose a random page on TVTropes and beat something from the video game section https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/LodgedBladeRecycling Saints Row: The Third I was lucky when i legitimately got this page at the start of the year (see page 1), it gave me a choice of playing Morrowind or SR3; i don't regret going for the latter. I can see now why GTA5 had to be so good: Because SR3 was better than GTA4: It forced Rockstar to pull their finger out and move the goalposts. The only real criticisms i have with SR3 are that there are very few memorable missions and aside from 3 or 4 songs; a horrendously bad soundtrack. But it makes up for it by being really quite loopy; it's not trying to be a straight GTA clone and it's all the better for it. After having replayed all three in short succession now I think I have to make the slightly scandalous statement that DKC3 is probably the best of the SNES series. Yes, the Kiddy Kong character design is a bit off putting, but he plays pretty much like an improved Donkey and he compliments Dixie better than Diddy does. It's a pretty basic sidescroller a la Castlevania that hasn't aged very well. Some kind of unfair shenangians towards the end but pretty standard for the time I guess. Honestly I was tempted to count this as a puzzle game given the nature of the gameplay, but it's classed as an action-platformer so I won't bother. Less visual novel than I was hoping for, but what was there was cool, and I loved the cast. The way their personalities carried into the Mafia portion of the game was quite well done. I found the Mafia sections to be pretty damn addictive, but I imagine people who have actually played a lot of Mafia will find them to be a bit too limited, and I know they'll disagree with the logic the game uses sometimes. This runs like garbage on my device, but thankfully there are no forced timing elements like the other Gacha games I've played, and it's just an RPG. Seems pretty okay, no obvious bullshit yet. A lot of the mechanics are obtuse, and poorly explained... Which I guess makes it true to the series.
