CMT isn't too bad imo, but I do sometimes see errors pointed out in the comments. I am biased however, because I've played machine translated Japanese games before, and some of them were long and story oriented. I can literally handle anything, and resembling the English language is a huge plus for me

"Not too bad" is honestly good enough for me, I don't need total perfection. I want to subscribe to like 3-5 of these clip translation channels anyways, just in case one ends up subbing a certain scene that some of the others don't.

Nah, I like them. The font design doesn't bother me, and the color-coding helps too.

I just assumed that it was about the "Vtubers" on Twitter that haven't actually debuted yet but are trying to stir up drama in the community.

any examples? are these actual people who are vtubers or just people who say they're debuting but never do

I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing to try to establish an online presence, presumably before your vtuber rig is done. IIRC Artemis was also known about for awhile before she officially debuted, but I'm not sure if she was trying to start drama before that. I did see a few tweets reacting negatively to Calli's new song though. It might be about those sorts of people, but I wasn't fully aware that this was a thing in the community before this.

Honestly it reminds me of Artemis who shitposted and begged for r34 of her to be drawn before she had her first stream, as well as aping gura debut hype.

Just left a bad taste in my mouth and I still have kind of a negative impression of her. Never bothered to watch her streams because of it.

These non-debut Vtubers exist because that was a pattern of success for several indie English speaking Vtubers. They would meme and gain some attention by posting everywhere, and after enough attention they would announce their debut. Artemis being a pretty prominent recent example

It's possible that in the process of garnering attention, the lesser savory individuals might confuse negative attention for a positive one.

You should give Artemis a shot, she actually addressed this stuff recently. The r34 stuff she admitted to just liking it, and the Shark/Gura thing was just her attempt at originality backfiring so she decided to just run with it anyway. She originally commissioned a generic shrine maiden girl then she ended up liking some girl from Idolmaster with shark teeth and that's how she ended up going to the Shark theme.

I had the same initial impression but she does seem like a legit nice person, though she's closer to a regular game streamer than traditional VTuber.

I don't even have time for most of the hololive girls, ain't got enough time to branch out into other vtubers tbqh, hell, I even mostly stopped watching pikamee because of this

On top of all the /pol/ tier Vtweeters, a number of them are the moralistic I hate problematic shipping or loli/shota/otaku pandering/Pewdiepie/etc. is bad and they act like they need to gatekeep these out of *our* fandom.

So, they claim to be pre-debut to force their way into the fandom to begin with, they attack already existing figures in the fandom with their opinions, and they never actually debut, just try to ride the wave of clout.

Ive even seen a Vtweeter with a loli avatar denounce loli but claim her avatar is totally over 18 so its okay.

It, like many other things on Twitter, is a shitshow and I have massive respect for Calli now thanks to that callout.

I'm just gonna say it flat out, I don't really like the song, or at least it's not a song that I'd want literally everybody to cover. At this point who hasn't covered King tbh? What is it about this song in particular? Just because it's popular and easy to license or something?

I'm sure licensing is part of it. My personal theory is that it's because it's short (so easier to work with all around) and because it basically already has the entire video premade for you. Bonus points for that video making a very striking youtube thumbnail

she did end up dying late into the tutorial and having to start over. but yeah, i sometimes make the unfair assumption that her being decent at FPS would carry over to other genres. and then I watch the Mario gameplay...

I was kinda impressed that she beat Bouldergeist on the first attempt when she was doing Galaxy yesterday. She's not great at the Mario games from what I've seen, but she will definitely be capable of beating them all at the very least.

Getting better but then also getting cocky and then they lose a lot of progress or choke at the worst moment. Like in getting over it, watching them fall back to the beginning after talking smack is just...wonderful.
