On PS4/Xbone, yes. Honestly I'm surprised they didn't just cancel the PS4/Xbone versions. Anyone with half a brain could tell that the preview builds they'd shown would never in a million years run like that on those systems.

i do need to note, because people are not the smartest, that if you have purchased the game digitally on the ps4 already, you can still play it, download it, do whatever with it. all this does is prevent people from purchasing it digitally right now.

The game is very buggy and a lot of expected or advertised features are missing. CDPR released a statement apologizing and saying people could get a refund if they want, and that they should request the refund through Sony/Microsoft customer service.

Problem is that it seems no one at CDPR effectively spoke to anyone at Sony before releasing the statement, and Sony has a pretty strict stance on refunds for digital games. There were many reports of gamers requesting a refund based on CDPRs statement but being denied.

So Sony is finally saying fine, if this game is so broken that people want refunds for it then okay, but we arent gonna be selling this broken ass game anymore if it isnt even gonna make us any money.

A lot of people think its gonna be back up on PSN as soon as the game is in a better state, but Im not so sure. Its unprecedented for a game of this caliber to be abruptly removed from a console storefront like this. I think CDPR really pissed off someone pretty high up the ladder at Sony.

I'm playing on base PS4 and I'm only in act 2 but I've been pretty lucky with bugs, glitches, and crashes so far. Only one visual bug (firing an invisible shotgun) and one crash so far. Turning off all the visual effects seemed to help. Honestly I wouldn't have been upset seeing enemies flying into the ceiling or my character running at 500 mph

It's tempting to think a delayed game will be more polished, but often this isn't true. In some cases it is. I generally trust Nintendo when they delay something.

But often times delays are indicative of major issues. Aspects of a game being scrapped and redesigned, game breaking bugs, miscommunication in the management, or a dev team not being able to deliver the game as imagined. Sometimes the game is not even in active development when delayed. Most publishers would rather release a bad game if they can avoid a delay.

Duke Nukem Forever is the most infamous example. Anthem is another big one.

Dev time is a lot like budget. You'd think it would correlate with quality, but that's an oversimplification.

This particular issue is completely CDPR's fault. The community's disappointment, however - up to and including physically assaulting a reviewer who dared to criticize one aspect of the game pre-launch (the blatant seizure triggers) - was also a consequence of overhyping it. Overhyping it is also part of why CDPR overextended themselves so much, since they knew they had very lofty expectations to live up to.

At the end of the day, yeah, CDPR delivered something barely functional and that's on them, as is this refund debacle, but overhyping was definitely a major issue with this game.

Itll happen. Just wait. Ive had about 2 dozen crashes, a good amount of glitches (sounds not occurring when I pull the trigger, mantis blading invisible bodies), and the most annoying one: running to an objective and getting there before everythings loaded in so Im all of a sudden surrounded by enemies. Ive learned to stop a couple hundred feet away and give it a second to load in.

having said that, Im level 37 and have over 60 hours. Im enjoying it a lot and honestly Im just treating this as a full-blown demo until either I update my gaming PC or the PS5 version comes out.

Honestly, it doesn't sound like further delays would have fixed the problems, at least not without going so far as to Duke Nukem Forever it and make everyone stop caring. Yes, they would have faced a fan backlash if they pushed it back another year, and even more of a shareholder backlash (which they care about a whole lot more than interwebs people), but it sounds like it would still have been a substantial effort to put out a complete game that quickly.

I never played Metroid Prime, but in this one you can run or drive up to them and theyre just there stuck in PS2 graphics mode until the game catches up. Wont even open until then.

Metroid Prime used doors as a means of buffering its load times. In general, you opened doors by shooting them, at which point they'd stop glowing and open whenever you got close enough to them. Every now and then, though, the room wouldn't finish loading by the time you got to the door, so you'd just run awkwardly into it and have to wait a few seconds for it to open. There were definitely times this got me - if not outright killed - more damaged than I would have liked because I was trying to just run past enemies and had to wait in a rather vulnerable spot for a few seconds because the door was slow.

It worked reasonably well most of the time, and I'm not really sure how they could have done it better except to tone down the visuals enough to be able to load more rooms simultaneously (I certainly wouldn't prefer an actual load screen between rooms), or possibly introduce more hallways between rooms to act as quasi-loading screens (which makes for more awkward, unpleasant level design). The occasional wait in front of an unresponsive door was pretty bothersome, though.
