cuz one of the benefits of turning funding the government into a fight/battle done every x months means you can jam in a bunch of stuff that would probably never fly normally into an emergency must-pass bill that no one can really vote against or even read in time

This bipartisan, consensus legislation will provide the Department of Justice with the authority to bring felony charges against a digital transmission service that:
-is primarily designed or provided for the purpose of streaming copyrighted works without the authority of the copyright owner or the law; or
-has no commercially significant purpose or use other than to stream copyrighted works without the authority of the copyright owner or the law; or
-is intentionally marketed by or at the direction of that person to promote its use in streaming copyrighted works without the authority of the copyright owner or the law.

Twitch is screwed since there is no explicit "authority of the copyright owner" with video games. It'd literally have to be a case by case basis, which isn't going to happen unless publishers start putting it in writing in EULAs or whatever. And since it's targeted at the platforms themselves and not the individual users, based on how Twitch handled DMCA, there is a very good chance Twitch just bails.

And given how companies like Atlus have already handled streaming, I don't have faith they're going to suddenly welcome it.

Why is a declaration that the official stance of the United States is that China has no say who the Dalai Lama is ATTACHED TO THE COVID RELIEF BILL??

I mean, this one is GOOD, but still.

Given that China criminalized reincarnation inside the territory of China without government approval to target the next Dalai Lama, sure, fair, next.

Section 230 is about civil damages. Has nothing to do with and cannot override a criminal statute. To the extent there was any conflict between the two statutes, the more recent one (i.e. the one that was just passed) controls.

I'm not sure they could, though. They'd have to get at least 10 Republicans onboard to break a filibuster, and without the threat of immediately losing elections the GOP probably unites against any more aid just to make Biden look bad.

Because if she'd just accepted the bill, McConnell totally would've brought it to the floor for a vote. That totally falls in line with his actions throughout this whole process. Yup, totally Nancy Pelosi's fault. Not like McConnell didn't ignore the bills the House passed for MONTHS without giving a shit, and then said "you know what, you guys work on it" to the House and White House. Nope, Nancy Pelosi was the one playing politics.

Then it would have been on him. She however was the one who played politics before it even got to that point. It not only cost a better deal, but also House seats.

He said multiple times he was bringing it to a vote if it was agreed on. So whether he was lying or not it was on them at that point. It would have cost them more Senate seats and saved house seats if he didn't do as he said. So that's on Pelosi. Sorry your golden queen isn't so golden and fucks up, Inviso. House freshman beg to accept the deal or they will lose their seats. House freshman lose seats when Pelosi won't agree to deal. House majority gets weaker and they are now agreeing to half of a bill.

Sounds like it worked out well, Chris. Truly. It was the worst negotiating I have ever seen and was just all to get the presidency at the expense of the people.

Or. Or, and follow closely here, OR, Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats wanted to get the best possible deal for the people, because the Democrats ultimately care about the American people, hence why they get fucked politically every time. It's a lot easier to get your way when you don't care if the hostage gets shot. Unfortunately, we're dealing with a voting populace that does not give a shit. 73 million people saw what four years of Trump brought us and said "I NEED TO GET OUT AND VOTE TO STOP SOCIALISTS FROM TAKING OVER!" You yourself have mentioned this reaction from among your family and co-workers.

You can scream from the rooftops all you want about how "The House bill had too many liberal poison pills in it!", but at the end of the day, it was VERY MUCH based around helping people as much as the government possibly could. And the people don't want to be helped. Hell, the fact that you, someone suffering economically from the impact of COVID, are STILL both sides-ing (what am I saying, you're completely blaming Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats for GOP stonewalling that made the whole debate take, what, 6 months before the Senate even thought about a bill? Gotta make sure Amy Coney Barrett was installed on the Supreme Court in case the GOP lost the Senate, after all) the two parties is exactly why you're receiving the EXACT amount of aid you deserve.

No it's not. I blame the voters for being morons who thought "She's holding talks up for trying to get us more money!" was the problem in the stimulus talks, and not the second party that WAS playing politics, since they (not so) secretly wanted no stimulus bill, but new how bad that looked optically, so they avoided getting involved in deliberations so they could pin all the blame on the Democrats and Trump.

I don't think you are paying attention. I blamed Trump and Pelosi and even voted for Biden over it. Your point is already defeated. It never got to McConnell for the blame to be laid at his feet. Everything was set to send it to McConnell and make it on him. It did not. Did Pelosi successfully get me not to vote for Trump and maybe many others? Sure. That's what she got at the expense of the people in accepting the bill.

It isn't both sides. It never got to McConnell. The Republican Senate could have passed their own relief bills with a majority just like the House could. And the house couldn't pass their relief bill with the Senate rules just like the Senate couldn't with Democrats blocking them.

However, it is extraneous because the people who could have agreed chose not to for political reasons, not for caring about the people. The problem is you think your career politicians care about people when they time and time again show they do not care about people over politics.

Multiple bills were sent to the Senate and Mitch McConnell refused to vote for them or even bring them up for debate. Period. End of statement. He refused to put the GOP-led Senate on-the-record as voting against stimulus relief (because the optics are bad) or for stimulus relief (because the GOP doesn't want to give stimulus to the unwashed masses that they trick into voting for them via dogwhistled hatred of minority groups). You do not get to accuse Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats of playing politics while ignoring the GOP openly politicking by refusing to take a stance one way or another and completely absolving themselves of any role in the disucssion (while taking up far more important matters like replacing RBG on the Supreme Court in the middle of an election campaign, after having denied that right to Merrick Garland in 2016).

As long as people like you continue to both sides the two parties and blame the party that tried to get more aid as much as (if not moreso than) the party who was perfectly content with ZERO aid, then we're always gonna get fucked. The Democrats aren't perfect, but when half the country is more than content with the party that fucks ALL of us over (because at least then the Democrats are getting fucked over), the Dems are our best and only option.

Nah, I reject that one on the premise that it shouldn't be a situation defined by wins and losses but duty. Doesn't matter what the win or loss crap is there, you got a good 80% of the amount asked for? You take that, not come up with excuses or make political decisions based on it. Best case, people got money in November through the holidays and into 2021. Worst case, it dies because your opponents killed it. Either way the only decision to be made here is what gets people the most help.

Of which, the current situation is such a shitty situation because it's pennies for losing god knows what in the bill.
