Anyone know if there's a way to end conversations? Kinda odd how you can't with some characters.

Edit: looks like throwing a grenade nearby works with some of them...

I usually just walk away from them.

Is there any truth to the idea that HDR makes the game look WORSE on consoles (or Ps4 at least)?

And, oh my god. I had what might the most frightening bug I've ever had.

So I was playing 2077 late last night. I happen to pause the game to get up, and I start to hear this horrific-sounding laughter. It was a bit muffled, but it sounded like it was coming from right outside my house. It wasn't just laughter, it was like this weird teeth gnashing and other guttural noises, and he said "hello?" a couple times like he was addressing me. Needless to say, I was a bit spooked and decided to just stop playing the game leave the room. Now it just so happened that the laughing stopped when I shut the PS4 off, but I wasn't thinking much about it at the time...

I sit down to play Cyberpunk today, and guess what?? The insane laughter was coming FROM THE GAME. So normally, for me at least, when the game is paused there is no sound. But for SOME reason, this guy's laughter STILL goes on in the pause screen. And it sounds super real. It's fucking crazy!

This game secretly being a nightmarish horror experience all along is a great twist. PT got nothing on this.

Anyway new patch removes the game from the PSN store in real time: https://twitter.com/ChronoKatie/status/1340411599799136257

I actually had something very similar happen while playing Fallout 4 near launch on PC. I was walking along and then suddenly hit a loading screen, spawned high up above the main settlement, then fell to my death. Best bug Ive ever seen.

New patch has improved my performance by quite a bit. No changes in my settings my inner city FPS would vary between 25-30 and outside the city was 29-34. After this patch it has been a pretty consistent 28-32 in the city and 38-40 out of it.

Had my first kind of funny but kind of frustrating bug.

I went to kill someone with the mantis blades and it did the animation-kill, but it locked onto a civilian way behind the target. The kill then missed that civilian by a good foot but they still rose up into the air while I continued to do the kill-animation in slow motion while the guy I was attempting to kill was in regular speed shooting me in the face.

Its not bad though?

Its running on a 970 and a ryzen 5 3600. I knew going in I wouldnt be getting a steady 60fps anything around 30 is what I was expecting and this is with high settings on.

All things considered the game is running above expectations.

I would love to upgrade but you are completely missing the point with that reply.

So, thoughts on the game so far:

Technical level, relatively happy. I'm playing on a classic Xbox One and I've only had one crash and about two T-poses. There have been some almost crashes, but I'll take those over an actual crash. Game still looks weird but not necessarily bad.

I like the clothes. It's fun to make your character look cool and there's plenty of stuff there to pull that off however you please. I like the gunplay and I like how different the cars feel. I've enjoyed the writing and the different characters quite a bit, although sometimes I wish the game would give you more options to go in-depth with them.

My problems with the game don't bother me that much, but if this game gets a sequel (and who knows with the release drama) these are things that definitely need to get fixed:

  • Loot. Good fucking lord, it's insane. You can't take two steps without something flashing at you to pick it up, especially in quest/combat areas. A lot of stuff you can ignore (junk) but what if always draws you in. I have no idea why there are weapon shops in this game when every combat encounter will give you at least 10 guns that are good enough for wherever you are in the game. I'm not that far in Act 2 and purely by doing story missions in Act 1 and 2, I've already picked up 3 Iconic Pistols that do their job amazingly well. In that sense, I don't know why there are junk items, when every combat encounter will also give you at least 10 guns that are useless beyond selling/decrafting.
  • Combat, although this is a problem imo with every game that wants to give you the option of going in guns blazing or stealthily. The modern Deus Ex games for instance give you this "choice", but it's not really a choice; stealth gives way more exp and the levels are designed way more for sneaking and taking out enemies and dumping them somewhere (or avoiding them altogether) and Jensen isn't exactly a death machine. In Cyberpunk, I feel the game definitely pushes you to a guns blazing approach. A lot of the combat areas are very open, with a lot of enemies looking right at each other. I don't really enjoy the stealth system where it gives you the opportunity to be seen as long as you head into cover; I don't need instant sight, but if there's a guy looking down a corridor and I'm going from one side to the other, he should see me (depending on distance and wideness of the corridor I guess, but you know what I mean). Stealth in this game seems to imply more that you avoid enemies, but most of the quest goals are in a suitcase that the big enemy is using as a stool, so it's kinda irrelevant. There are also a billion cameras everywhere, which leads into my next point of criticism.
  • Even with a tutorial, the hacking mechanic is kinda weird and confusing imo. The basic hacking to get goodies is easy enough to understand (although the buffer mechanic is not totally clear) but the hacking of enemies and machinery in combat I find very confusing. There are times when you can shut off cameras permanently, and there are times when you shut them down for a few seconds/minutes. There's no real indication when it's going to be one way or the other. I don't know if this happened because of the difficulty level or because of my level, but it's been pretty confusing in combat encounters. In that sense, your "mana" does not regenerate in combat unless you get a perk, but I've found it very unclear where exactly it is indicated how much I have. I've also not levelled them that much, but a lot of the hacking spells seem weak to me.
  • Screen calibration. I don't have a wide monitor; I know the game wasn't made for me, but it's kinda silly that I can't adjust the screen corners like in every game in existence since the XBO/PS4 days and now some things get cut off. How is this something that isn't in the game when going into the Gamma Correction gives you a tutorial that lasts you a day?
  • As fun as the world is, there's not quite enough to do. In the Witcher, you can get away with a pub and a card game. In something like Cyberpunk, it should probably lean a bit more to being able to play basketball or something. Nobody would really do it I guess, but it still feels weird that there's so little to live in a world that is this well built.

I used stealth 90% of the time. If you use it with hacking you can clear out most missions without going into Combat fairly easily.

The Breach Protocol Camera shut down lasts 3 or 6 minutes depending on your perk level in that ability (it's in the Breach Protocol perks). If you shut them down directly with a hack I think they stay off forever.

If you focus on Int I think hacking's generally considered the strongest build in the game.

I hated Gwent so I was fine with no equivalent here <_<

I'm going all-in on quickhacking and brawling now. Hacking is ridiculous, at high levels Contagion is just insane. Not to mention Suicide + uh the non-lethal version of it I forget the name of it, they both just eliminate bunch of enemies with ease.

Beat it...I got the ending of.. Leaving Night City with the Aldecaldos...and I have full control of my body

For all intents and purposes this seems like the 'good' ending.

My GOTY for 2020. It got me sucked into the world, and when the game is at its best, it is really fucking good. Of course I ran into of my share of bugs and glitches, but the game never crashed on me(PC). Steam has me clocked in at just under 90 hours, did all the side missions, gigs, vehicles and NCPD scanner stuff except for one in Watson(I think that one is actually bugged for me)

Biggest complaint is the AI. It's so bad in some spots that with all the world building, great characters, along with the setting and mood and just overall being a great game to look at, it just pulls you right out. This includes firefights, general AI civilians, other vehicles. Granted the firefight AI when it seemed competent did put up enough of a challenge with various flanking techniques, but I stealthed my way through the majority of my playthrough while putting most of my gun perks into hand guns.

The loot system was overall pretty weak, I didn't find myself using an consumables outside of crafting, and crafting is super broken.

I'll probably wait for more updates, and expansions(DLC's) before I do another playthrough, by then I'll probably have an upgraded rig in order to play it at a higher FPS(was a steady 30FPS for the majority of my playthrough), the animations just(obviously) looked a lot better in 60 from what've seen of it.

Great game.
