Crunch sucks and the marketing was perhaps more than borderline offensive, but I got this game anyway I guess. Post all your thoughts and questions here.

heres my pro tip: get two levels of the advanced data mine perk early. Then any time you find one of the terminal things you can jack into you can get like ~$1000 and theres a lot of those things around

now I used my vast fortune to purchase double jump legs and gorilla arms and I feel very cool.
The added mobility of the legs has helped make the game feel a bit more distinct from just being Fallout in a city or whatever. It opens up more angles of approach in any encounter and just makes getting places generally a bit easier.

just in general id say save all your money for cyber body stuff since its expensive and youre unlikely to just find it. Guns, armor, and healing items are everywhere constantly.

Yeah advanced data mine level 2 was the first perk I got. Makes money not a problem. Definitely recommend and if you feel like you are scrounging by, especially in the early game.

I just got to the title drop and opened up the world. So far I've been mostly speccing into the Cool pathway that gives killstreak bonuses, but I might start over with a new character because hacking seems to be the most interesting part of the gameplay so far. Not sure yet.

did you just completely focus on the main storyline? Im 30 hours in and I dont think im halfway done with my playthrough, so finishing it in a weekend sounds crazy to me.

The main story seems surprisingly short. Only 19 main quests which doesnt seem like a huge amount.

Pretty much just did the main story and any sub quests that I happened to come directly across.

Was shorter than I expected, but not super short.

Not at all, I kind of like that you can experience the story fairly streamlined without having to delve into a bunch of side stories and fluff.

Now to take it a bit more slowly and enjoy the world a little more.

Its not bad, its just surprising. The Witcher 3 was really long, and the first two were quite a bit longer than this too.

In general this game seems much more open world Deus Ex than The Witcher, and the size is no different.

Have people mainly been crafting ammo to get by? I'm kinda annoyed there's no real way to tell how much crafting a case of ammo gives you, but maybe I'm missing something.

I got a glitch where some cigs float in the air while talking to Johnny. Pretty funny.

Little less than 20 hours in, still loving it but the cracks are starting to show. The AI simply put is not good for really anything, civilians, enemies, important NPC's, vehicles, ect.

Snipers are also ridiculously good in this game especially with the level 2 perk of a 50% increase in damage for headshots when they don't know where you are.

Upgraded to Mantis Arms and they're faster but do so much less damage than a decent katana. Charged attack on an unsuspecting enemy is pretty great though. Hopefully some way to upgrade their damage output otherwise sticking with swords.

Anyone take the throwing knives perk in stealth? Was hoping you'd be able to pick up your thrown knives but seems like they just vanish, making for some pricey ammo.

An yeah, the AI overall feels pretty dated.

no, except for one time early on when I ran out of pistol ammo I havent had any ammo supply problems

I crafted a lot of pistol ammo the first time through, ended up grabbing the auto scrapping perk to save some time.

The description for Gorilla Arms says theyre supposed to help you pry open doors, but they dont appear to actually do that

so thats a bummer

as I play more of the game, im really enjoying it and its super impressive in some ways, but it also feels like it wasnt quite finished. Obviously games plan and cut content all the time, but theres stuff here where it seems like some cutting was done really late in development such that other stuff was designed with the expectation that the thing was there?

I had one mission to stop a cyberpsycho, and to weaken her I was told I could jack into the network and do something to mess with her implants. When I jack in, it just gave me the exact same money hacks that are always there... so I do those, then it exits that screen and somehow doing the money hack weakened her? That cant be how they intended that, right? I feel like they cant have meant for all those jack-in spots to just be for money

why are there even perks to extend the time you have for breaching? The clock doesnt start until you make your first move, so you have all the time in the world to plan. Ive never come anywhere near running out of time.

also sometimes I do some technical ability thing with fuse boxes and I cant tell what its supposed to be accomplishing

and then in the Badlands youre supposed to be fighting these people called the Raffen Shiv (?), but all of them are labeled Wraiths. Whats that about?
and why doesnt Wakako care that Im constantly murdering members of her Tyger gang?
also I think the radio is broken. it seems like almost every time Im in a car the stations are playing the same one song they always play.

I really do like the game, I just keep having these moments where it feels like something is missing or wrong.

-One of the gigs is named/referenced breaking bad(Gig itself is also very BB)

Yeah...I'm on PC but I'm thinking about checking back after a patch or two. I haven't encountered any gamebreaking bugs but there were some annoying ones. One after a Johnny scene left the glitch effect on my screen for like an hour until I reloaded and realized it was just a bug and another in Jig-Jig Street that tanked my framerate until I reloaded. Which, the performance issues are a whole other thing, I'm generally happy with being able to get a consistent 50+ish frames in the open city but certain areas seem to tank it.

Is it because it's not a sequel to a beloved series? Is it the years of hype and sunk cost fallacy?

Andromeda was a bad game at its core. Also a lot less ambitious, and frankly some genres get more of a pass with regards to bugs. I am fairly sure that as reviewers experienced it though (ie on PC, usually on top-end machines), it was a much better experience than Andromeda. Now, the console version is a different story. Frankly they should have cancelled it.

FWIW on Stadia I have seen zero notable bugs so far.

I don't think it gets a pass? At least most of the coverage I've seen online has been people making fun of the bugs and jank.

All I remember from MEA was some hilarious walking animations and the horrifying eye textures.

I think why that backlash was worse is that as Mac mentioned it missed the mark on the story and characters which are the biggest points of that series for a lot of people.
While CP77 has missed the mark in quite a few spots, it still nailed the world which was easily the biggest point for me.

Would love to see the multiplayer (they still adding that?) allow you to create a non-V character so you don't have the plot forcing your character to be a certain type of person.

In addition to the game content itself, Mass Effect Andromeda also had the anti-woke crowd against it, and nobody blindly defends EA like many do CDPR. Bioware had already faded from golden boy status thanks to ME3, whereas CDPR was coming off of The Witcher 3. MEA was also never hyped up the way Cyberpunk has been, we saw like nothing of it until right before release so everybody was already very wary.

Plus the core game is great(first impressions anyway). Where ME:A was just boring.

I'll be doing more playthroughs once my initial one is complete just to see how big a difference some things make(in the story telling), but overall putting the glitches aside, it's fantastic outside of the AI, which is my personal biggest gripe about the game.

Personally I think Cyberpunk 2077 has had its backlash mitigated by at least delivering on its core promises. One thing I've noticed is that the people who didn't buy into the hype seem to mostly enjoy thr game despite the jank. To put it bluntly - Witcher 3 is not a great action game, it's got passable combat held up by the story, characters, writing, and overall world. And while I'm not too far in the plot that seems to largely be similar for 2077. I have a lot of criticisms but when it's firing on all cylinders it's pretty good at doing the things it wants to be doing.

I skipped Andromeda but I largely did so because of the consensus that they dropped the ball on these types of things that did matter, in addition to the technical issues and the game being hideous even despite those.

Writing has been okay early on for the main quests. The Gigs side quests are largely inconsequential which is kinda unfortunate, since they make up the bulk of the non Main Story content. Bloody Baron they are not.

Dunno how it is for male V but Cherami Leigh is doing some heavy lifting with her work as female V

It doesn't but "not as good as Witcher 3" leaves a ton of room for your writing to still be good

Uh, why compare gigs to Bloody Baron? BB was a main story quest.
