Game of the Month is a community project open to all B8ers where users share, discover, play and/or discuss a select few games every month. The games featured each month are chosen by YOU the users (and Lady Luck) The Basics - Each month will usually feature three games that were chosen via a random drawing from a pool of games that users nominated - For each game you beat, you get a cool point on our just-for-fun standings as well as a nomination for next month's randomized drawing - In order to receive the point and nomination, you must beat said game within the calendar month - If you beat one of the current month's games in the previous month, you can apply for a "recently beaten waiver," but you will only receive a point and no nomination should you do so - Drawing for next month's games is usually around a week before the end of the month - If you periodically keep us posted on your progress and/or talk about different aspects of the games, then everyone will think you are super awesome! If the entire game was going down the rabbit hole of all the online forums and pages doing more basic tasks like you did in the first half or so, I think that would have been fantastic. However, toward the end, things just got exceedingly complicated and cumbersome to the point that I had to force myself to finish it. As a result, I am both very impressed and disappointed with the game but more importantly glad that I tried this. It had been on my radar for awhile, but I never took the plunge to buy it. I'm trying to think of all the timelooping video games that I've played, but the only one that comes to mind is The Sexy Brutale. I know that there has to be more. The gameplay never felt particularly engaging, and the abrupt uncontrollable camera shifts grated on my nerves pretty badly. Things eventually clicked enough that I could enjoy it to an extent, but I don't think I ever would have called it good. I think the developers planned out a very interesting, complex story that they couldn't quite put together into a satisfying package. Great setting, promising characters and writing, and some interesting concepts, but there were a lot of things that were left unexplained or just felt rushed to me. And as someone whose favorite game of all time is Mario 64 and also loves Galaxy 1 and Odyssey, I have to ask... How do so many people consider this the best Mario 3D platformer? The only things I have left to explore that I know of are ~~The Ash Twins Project, the Probe Detecting section that definitely isn't somewhere in Giant's Deep, and literally all of Dark Bramble.~~ I have no idea if there is any specific point you should go to Dark Bramble prior to this. I tried once near the beginning and got eaten immediately, and haven't tried since. I think the only helpful information I've learned since is that the fish is blind. Other points of interest I hit tonight were the Sun Station and the sixth planet on the Quantum Moon. I was having a lot of trouble with the cacti on the path to the Sun Station until I realized it is much easier if you go immediately and walk on the sand. --- "Video games are meant to be just one thing. Mario doesn't control as well as in Odyssey, but there are some really cool level ideas, and the cloud power-up is so much fun to use. Glad I replayed this.
