I've been meaning to play Curse of the Moon 1 and 2, so may as well try to get through them next month!

I meant to bring this up much earlier in the month, but I kept forgetting and now it's too late to do it for January. I want to bring up now though what the "special theme" for 2021 will be. We've had holiday games, game anniversaries, user selects, and birthday voting. Now we will be doing supports.

I am leaving it up to all of you to decide which format it will take:

1. In four select months, users would have unlimited supports of other users' nominations. What I mean by this is that you could give a single support for any game nominated by someone other than you. Beating games would not be requirement in order to give supports or anything like that. A game would get as many entries in the drawing as they did nominations + supports. The drawing later that month would have four games selected. This was my original idea

2. Each user will get 10 supports that they can use throughout the year. You could use all 10 in a single month if you want. This would require more work on my end and make a separate sheet in my master spreadsheet, but I realized that some people would maybe want more freedom in when to use supports. Everything else from above more or less applies.

I prefer option 2, but would be fine with option 1 if that's too much work.

Played a lot of SMG2 today. Made it to World 4 with 32 stars. I'm enjoying it better but I still find the controls a little stiff which has made a lot of stars frustrating, especially races and prankster comets.

Also I do like option 2 because there have been plenty of months where I'm really not interested in almost anything from the nomination pool, and I would hate to have that be a month that ends up being a support month. And when a game I'm super interested in does come up from someone else, I'd like to be able to just toss it a second to increase its chances of being picked (thus increasing my chances of participating).

That being said I understand if it's a lot of work for you.

Bought and finished CotM today, was shorter than expected. Also went ahead and bought CotM2, so I'm ready for next month.

SMG2 progress - made it to world 5 with 43 stars. It feels like I'm nearing the end of the game so I might beat it tonight. If not, then definitely tomorrow.

What happened?

Also, really want to play that, but don't want to suffer through the Wii controls

There are a lot of needlessly frustrating stars (most of them made so by stiff controls and a bad camera) and I just Game Over'd at the end of a mandatory one.

Cody has beaten Outer Wilds

Good game, I liked it.

Dark Bramble and the ending sequence freaked me out way more than anything else in the game, which kind of dampened my thoughts on the game overall. Anglerfish in particular are a pain to deal with.

Still, I really enjoyed the premise, it was very fun exploring the different unknown planets. The ending was very melancholy, the universe was doomed from the start, but life goes on.

Suggestion: revisit game nominations. One bonus game thats an option for people to play each month from ones the club has already done. Because thats getting to be quite a lot of games!

Bloodstained Curse of the Moon 2 I will play when it gets a limited run games physical release and not before. And its just a matter of time since they said a while ago its in the works. #physicalforever

darkx has beaten Super Mario Galaxy 2

Definitely not my favorite of the 3D Mario platformers. In fact I'd put it second-to-last, only above 3D World. I thought the controls felt stiff, the camera could be inconvenient at times, and both of these made some stars needlessly frustrating to get, particularly timed ones. I've also never ever enjoyed riding Yoshi in a 3D game and this was no exception.

The graphics, music and level design were just as good as the original though. Maybe I prefer the levels in the original out of nostalgia but that's about it. Finally playing that one after months of hunting down a Wii was fantastic. This... didn't have that same joy to it.

Oh god I completely forgot that I was in the middle of playing Republique. I don't think I can get 3+ episodes in two days, but maybe I can get close and wrap it up early January.
