I told someone that the idea of more votes than voters is ridiculous, then they compared it to walking into Pearl Harbor the day after the Japanese attack and denying it happened. Even though there's no evidence for the former whatsoever.

plum's time limit stuff honestly seemed more like somebody who isn't too into politics seeing this clusterfuck, which is why there's holes and inconsistencies in what he said. less political bend and more ignorance and not knowing what to do, could be done, or has been tried. like in theory what's being asked for sounds good but it falls apart under analysis.

Why not? People who win elections in November aren't even seated until January. Why does the speed of vote counting matter, as long as the results are known in time to allow for transition?

I don't think slow counts are a super big deal either. I am actually more upset about counties dropping massive blocs of votes all at once. If Milwaukee didn't wait to release 60% of their votes in one big drop at the end it would have been very close the whole time instead of Trump maintaining a 100k+ lead all night and suddenly having it swing to Biden +20k at 4 AM.

3-2 party line vote in Luzerne County's (Pennsylvania) Board of Election to certify the vote there. Dems voted to certify, Republicans to not.

Trump won Luzerne by 22,000 votes.

As far as I'm aware, computer security experts are almost uniformly extremely against this. Making a system that both preserves anonymous voting and isn't susceptible to being manipulated is extremely difficult, if not impossible.

Got it. Maybe I'm naively optimistic but these people have no power yet so it feels silly to go after them for not implementing stuff. But yeah, silly of whoever that was who tweeted about it being inspiring.

Its that someone felt the need to remind us we cant let this get lost that one of the dudes who facilitated arms shipments to forces who bombed civilians in Yemen (including kids) will be working as Sec of State, a 60+ a week job instead of being with his newborn child.
