I am not advocating for it. But, I mean, obviously the solution to all three of those is genocide.

World hunger is overpopulation. Global warming if man made is overpopulation. And world peace while tricker requires either alien unified threat or elimination of all competing ideas and stresses of overpopulation on the populace.

Hunger has little if anything to do with overpopulation

I'd like to note that climate change is also not due to overpopulation. The technology that causes climate change also caused the population boom, but it's important to not conflate the two. The continued use of these technologies in addition to alternatives being forcibly suppressed is what is actually causing such a significant change.

It's currently 222-205 with 8 seats uncalled... all 8 with republican leads right now.

I said 223!

But I also said there was one I was hoping to keep that I thought we might lose iirc. That is the one Iowa district we likely lost by like 50 votes.

I dont remember when we were talking about this or I could just look it up to confirm. Feel like it was one or two days after the election?

I dont disagree with anything you said in the first half of your post. But Trump is uniquely horrific and these past two weeks have cemented him as a bottom five all time.

(And Im being generous here and its probably bottom three.)

I'm not going that far.

Feel like we still need to wait and see the full extent of the lasting damage Trump has done to US foreign policy. Like who the fuck even trusts our word anymore when we've demonstrated that we as a country are liable to elect some malignant narcissist who will blow it all up at any time.

Our ability to negotiate has probably been severely damaged for at least a generation or two. Hell, not even with just unfriendly nations, even our allies would be right to not trust us given how we've fucked them over under this administration.

Edit: And yeah, that's putting aside what Suprak has mentioned about the sheer amount of distrust he's sowing in democracy. In general but especially over the past two weeks.

You can study more into it as much as you want. We know as population grows more arable land is needed. It has a limit. We also know that world hunger is mostly contained to like 7 different countries for about 60% of world hunger. Countries with more poverty are more overpopulated and have more hunger issues. We also know global warming renders more of our land un-usable for farming and that with more population that there is a natural co2 increase but moreso driven by more car use, ac use, hearing, burning fossil fuels, etc. The more population you have the more this happens. Overpopulation of the world is inherently part of the equation. And, with a genocide you would yes, reduce carbon emissions drastically across the board. You would solve world hunger and even poverty. If you also were culling down to a small group of like minded individuals, you would solve world peace in the same swoop.

That said, it's a sick idea and that of a cartoon villain. So, we have to find another idea to solve it.

I'm technically too young to include Reagan on this list, but:

Trump > Clinton > Obama > Bush Sr. > Bush Jr. > Reagan

Bush Sr.'s description of Reagan's economics as voodoo economics was spot-on. Unfortunately, he toed the party line once Reagan made him VP. Clinton spent 2 years fighting it and gave up and joined Team Reagan, but was at least the most successful at using trickle down to bring the country prosperity. Obama did nothing meaningful to stop it and wasn't good at implementing it either. Bush Jr. believed the voodoo economics himself. And Trump called it out for what it is.

aka blue states

I will also reserve the right to reevaluate presidents as time goes on and the consequences of their policies becomes better known. Clinton looked really great around February 2000, as did Reagan and Bush Sr. when it seemed their policies were working. Even Trump said so at the time, but 16 years later he was calling NAFTA the worst deal ever made by anyone.

that's fair but... is it really that big a deal? i get that it's frustrating to wait this long and faster counts would be nice but i don't think it really matters.

maybe i missed it but i don't think plum answered this question either. he just went "slow counts are a super big deal and we need to take drastic measures to make sure votes get counted faster!"

I don't think it's a big deal in itself; certainly it's a minor issue with american democracy compared to things like voter suppression and the undemocratic aspects of the electoral system.

however, it's indicative of the larger problem of america's inexplicably poor election infrastructure, which leaves it more vulnerable than most western democracies to manipulation from outside (see 2016) or inside (now).

considering the current chaos after an election that wasn't actually close by any meaningful metric, it's easy to imagine that the republican attempts to effectively steal the election would have been successful if it were a closer biden win. a huge amount of the current GOP conspiracy theories revolve around vote counting order, which could have been completely nullified if it was handled efficiently in the first place. in that void, a huge amount of the country now believes the election was rigged, and faith in democracy itself suffers.
