The only run in I BELIEVE I had was with someone who may have played for the Spurs. I was in line at a food place and this guy who seemed athletic and wearing a spurs top thing was in front of me. He kept looking at me and smiling. At first I thought he was crazy, but then after I thought maybe he was a newish player and was eager to get recognized. Saw me, a rather tall guy and thought "this guy is tall, has to like basketball, any second he is gonna ask me for a picture or something."

Most my celebrity run ins have been at shows. I'll go from least to most interesting:

Mark Manson. Went to a book signing, talked to him briefly.

Bo Burnham did a meet and greet at his show in place of an opener and an encore, so I got to meet him and ask a couple questions before getting my picture taken and never seeing him again.

Tony Hawk. He was at the American Nightmare reunion show at 924 Gilman and very briefly got in the pit with us!

Damian Abraham, from Turned Out a Punk podcast and the band Fucked Up. There were a few other punk celebrities too. But it was at a festival outside of Austin, Sound & Sound. Flag (Black Flag band with a bunch of og members) were playing. During Rise Above I was right next to Damian shouting along/moshing with him.

Tyler the Creator, Frank Ocean, and the rest of Odd Future. I was living in NYC and Tyler the Creator and Frank Ocean were having separate shows in different parts of the city. That day, Trash Talk announced a late night show (for free!) and I went. Trash Talk had just been signed to Odd Future's label and that combined with the lateness of the show made me suspect it was going to be an after-party for Odd Future. I was right, it was. Still the wildest show I've been to, and I've been to a lot. People were literally climbing on the piping of the ceiling. Both Tyler and Frank took the mics at points, but for the most part they were in the pit with us and I definitely made contact with both them and other Odd Future members. Tyler pushed me pretty hard into the people barrier at one point lol

I saw Rainn Wilson on a Southwest flight to Chicago and the seat next to him was open. We made eye contact and I saw who it was and was too nervous to sit next to him So I kept walking

Oh yeah, just remembered another. Before a Ricky Eat Acid show I ran into him and his girlfriend (Kitty, who was opening the show) getting food across the street. Briefly talked to them and mentioned I was looking forward to the show. This one didn't seem as exciting to me because I had a friend in college who was high school buddies with Ricky Eat Acid and that's how I found out about him, so it didn't feel like a "famous" person.

I went to a free short film festival in NYC that was hosted by Hugh Jackman and was within a few feet of him while he was giving an introductory announcement.

Other than politicians (mayors, first selectmen, etc), not really.

Granted, it's possible that I've met a few I've forgotten about. I went to a wrestling show once where I had the opportunity to talk to some some guys who had been big in the WWE and were going to be big in the WWE, but it wasn't anybody on meeting. Well, Christian Cage was there, I guess I wouldn't have minded meeting him, but it would have been during an autograph signing and I didn't care enough to pay whatever he was charging for an autograph.

Trevor Hoffman - 100 save reliever - at an in-n-out. I just congratulated him. He thanked me.

Kate Hudson and Patrick Fugit - actors - after a press screening of "Almost Famous. Shook their hands, told them the movie was great. They thanked me.

Corey Taylor - musician - VIP access to his book tour. We met, took a photo, exchanged pleasantries prior to the event. The he heckled me. It was glorious.

Dated a Philly DJ which led to meeting a few other Philly djs.

Saw Cage the Elephant back in 2009 and we ended up in the front row. Main singer (Matt Shulz) ended up crowd diving onto me and sweating all over my face.

I ended up talking to him after the show and he said we were sweat brothers then drew an alligator on the cd I bought.

Was my first and last concert, nothing will ever top that.

I once saw Bo Burnham perform a show and the people I was with really wanted a picture after. His bus was hidden somewhere because he didn't want a large crowd but we ended up finding it and getting a picture. He was so much taller than I thought he was.

I got an autograph from Mike Birbiglia after a comedy show and managed to make him laugh and smile so that was a pretty cool experience.

I saw Darryl from the office perform a comedy set and got a picture with him after. One of the best small shows I've ever been too. Wasn't really stand-up but it was really fun.

Did some work in Steve Martin's house. He was nice, and effortlessly funny.

Did some work in Nick Cave's house. Again, nice. Didn't interact with him much.

Did some work in George Benson's house. Now, he was hospitable. He showed us around the house, his studio, his garage. Let me sit in his Rolls Royce. Played some guitar for us while we worked. One of the nicest people I've ever met. And when I showed up at his house he was buck naked lol

Used to deliver heating oil to Ben Stiller and Jerry Stiller's houses on Nantucket. Met Jerry a few times in passing (never saw Ben there). Good dude.

Ran into James Woods at a gas station in Connecticut

Ran into Tedy Bruschi at a Target in Massachusetts

Ran into Gabriel Byrne on Martha's Vineyard, he was walking with this absolute smoke show who was probably half his age (could've been his daughter for all I know)

Ran into Bill Belichek at a truck stop in Texas during the off-season

All quick hellos. They seemed nice by the 10 seconds I interacted with them.

Met Jacob Bannon outside a club when I went to see Louis CK in Boston. He was really nice. His wife was hot.

Picked up some sculptures from Dale Chihuly. Picked up some paintings from Bill Seinkewicz (sp?)

Oh yeah, Dan Aykroyd at a meet-and-greet, if that counts.
I think that's it...

I used to have a table in the small press area at the San Diego Comic Con. Lou Ferrigno, the original Hulk, used to have a booth as well and he'd sometimes wander around checking out the other exhibitors. I was always impressed by that because most celebrity guests had handlers or bodyguards or stayed behind their tables and here he was walking around by himself like any other attendee.

I also got to talk with Yvette Vickers for a while.

Just remembered a few more since I started thinking about film screenings:

Danny Perez. He's not super famous or anything, but he directed Animal Collective's visual album, ODDSAC, and I got to go to a screening of that in SF where he did a Q&A and I ate foie gras pate that was way too cold and borderline frozen.

Joshua Oppenheimer. When I was in film school we had a screening of The Act of Killing and he did a Q&A afterword. The Q&A lasted as long as the movie itself and he only answered like three questions because his answers were super long and detailed. He's a really cool guy and I enjoyed the Q&A quite a bit. I talked to him super briefly afterwards (like just said hi I like your movie and shook his hand).

Tommy Wiseau. I've been to multiple screenings of The Room as it is one of my favorite communal bad film experiences and Tommy Wiseau himself was at one of them. He was odd. My friend got a picture with him but he wandered off before I could get mine lol.

I saw Eric Andre at a Fairway Market in New York City last week. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didnt want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, Oh, like youre doing now? I was taken aback, and all I could say was Huh? but he kept cutting me off and going huh? huh? huh? and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Snickers in his hands without paying.
The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like Sir, you need to pay for those first. At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually to prevent any electrical infetterence, and then turned around and winked at me. I dont even think thats a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

so no, i haven't

Okay last one, probably. And to call this guy a celebrity is probably a bit of a stretch. But I have the lead singer of Trapt's phone number and have trolled him pretty hard before. From our exchanges I also know which hole in the wall bar in Los Gatos he likes to frequent, so I could theoretically show up and meet him if I had any desire to.
