ya, the ass blasters were pretty much the near snapping point of the suspension cord of disbelief... it was hella stupid but just the tiniest bit plausible.

If anything, the larval form in Tremors 4 coulda used more attention, they coulda been, like, cute or something

Atleast they retconned the precambrian rock statement. One of the few creature features that cleans its messes up

Sadly I wish scifi didnt cancel tremors the series. Big Mt dlc from FO: New Vegas reminded me so much of it.

Tremors 5: Bloodlines was the last one I watched and I enjoyed it. I think this one had the old Graboid that did not go into the next stage of their reproduction cycle. The intro to Tremors: A Cold Day in Hell dissuaded me from watching the remainder of the movie.

Technically that might be the last one, considering Burt Gummer supposedly dies at the end and they bury his hat or whatever.

tbh, I watched it the other month -- and I didn't hear about it prior to finding it on NF or whatever -- but it was halfway decent. Other than 4 (and maybe 3; however 4 was so lousy it apparently killed the franchise for 11 years), none of the movies have been terrible; they're just fun, campy horror films. iirc, the first one was played a bit more straight and then 5/Bloodlines was also a bit more serious (even though it had Jamie Kennedy for some fucking reason -- this is long after he really had any star power), but even then they had goofier elements.

Honestly, I think they could have got away with it if they just hadn't called them that.

He might be timeless, but he hasn't had any time for the Tremors franchise. He's talked about wanting to return, but we haven't seen him in a Tremors film since 1.

Bacon did film a pilot for a Tremors tv series on Amazon. It was reboot that ignored everything but the original and he's the only cast member to return in it. It wasn't picked up but the trailer for it was released. It didn't look very good.

You kinda would have to ignore everything except the original. The franchise went in all kinds of weird directions plus I think there's a rights thing.

Kind of a shame. I would have enjoyed a show focusing more on the original monster concept.

I don't know, seems it takes studios a little while to grasp that there's such a thing as the law of diminishing returns.

Seems like they caught on pretty quick after Tremors 4, considering they didn't have another movie for 11 years. However, even if a movie stops making as much money, you can always just go with a lower budget anyway.

I suppose it's got to be said: how many movies have you seen where you thought, "Did they actually expect people to pay to watch this?!" and yet apparently ... they did.

Eh, a lot of really bad low budget films wind up on streaming or tv where they're just trying to fill space. It's not like they're actually making it into theaters or anything. Producers aren't seriously expecting most of these to become the next Sharknado because it's generally a fluke when an absurdly budget production generally sold purely on the film's premise somehow winds up being a hit. They're being produced on a low budget with the expectation that they'll somehow bring in enough to make a modest profit over covering costs (or, in some cases, I imagine the producers are over-selling to investors and hoping that it'll fail so they'll get to keep that money without anybody taking a close look at the books)

In other cases, the movies are just produced in countries where tax laws allow investors to easily net any losses against what they owe the government so they theoretically can't lose (which is how Uwe Boll was able to make so many movies)
