Realistically how is a weapon going to get taken from you if you're a reasonably fit adult?

I'm not sure what the intent here was exactly. I can see why some loan meth head or some shit breaks in trying to rob me hes probly gonna run when I come at him with a bat and if he doesn't and doesn't have a gun or a sword at hand he's getting fucked up. Lol.

Also if you just have a standard door frame most decent sized adults can smash through that pretty quick if they really want to.

I broke a door down once when a friend locked her dog in her place when she lost her keys. It was only like a ten_20 year old house too. I told her she could wait for a locksmith and she was like "just do it i can get it fixed later."

Took three tries to actually get in and it hurt my shoulder a bit but its definitely doable if you're determined and not like 105lbs.

I dont know if kicking woulda done it. Maybe eventually if you can kick pretty hard.

Literally all you need is a security system. If someone breaks in the door or window and a loud-as-fuck klaxon starts alarming, they're going to run.

Security system. I personally have a 12 gauge pump action shotgun but its not loaded. The sound of that gun cocking will scare anyone away. Dogs work too.

If you're gonna use a bat or are, you better practice with it. If the invader has a knife and you swing away like the end of signs, one overswing and you're done.

A lot of people think that its super simple to just swat with a bat, but it does require some basic technique or you can miss your target or blow you arms out when the panic sets in.

A bat is still one of the much better choices, but a nice light claw hammer wouldn't be a bad bet either. A knife that is actually sharp and not a dollar store special can do very well, but really requires you to close the gap.

Just get a gun if at all possible. And invest in a security system, signage, and good locks or barricades.

Police usually don't take alarm system calls seriously because they get false alarms all the time. I lived at a place where we had one and accidentally set it off. The police showed up 45 minutes later to the wrong house.

At that same house, a teenager once kicked the front door in because they were having a party next door and my landlord wouldn't give them any booze. If your door frame is made of wood, chances are it's weak where the cutout for the lock is. If it's not, a career criminal I used to work with taught me to kick the hinge side of the door instead, because they often don't use very long screws to mount them to the frame. If they're already inside, it's pretty easy to just bypass a locked door and tear the drywall off instead.

I know a lot of other stuff about breaking into places as well, if your house isn't a motherfucking fortress, it's actually not that hard to break into. I also know that burglary isn't worth it, because even if you get away with the act of breaking in and robbing someone, what usually gets you caught is trying to sell the stolen goods.

A lot of it can simply come down to size disparity. I am a large man, many years ago I was jumped by a significantly smaller (but in good shape) man who hit me in the back of the head three times with a metal pipe. I was able to get my hands on it and even though one of my wrists was fractured by him trying to twist it away from me I still ended up holding the pipe while he ran away.

if someone busted in my apartment, they better hope THEY have a weapon. I won't need one

One could always fashion a crude spear from a sturdy branch. Spears are very effective. You could also dip the pointy end into your own poop.
