Not quite true. From Article II Section 1:

They have the authority to pick the "manner" in which electors are chosen, but they've already done that (and the manner is by people voting).

Yes, so they could change the manner to be a vote by the state legislature.

Yes, but it doesn't say they can't change their selection method before the electors vote. In theory, they could try that.

But in real life, there's obviously no point trying it because Biden won by more than one state. Besides, the courts would laugh them out of the room if they pushed it that far. The Supreme Court massively favors Republicans, but they aren't stupid.

Man the Dems are INCOMPETENT at rigging these elections, I swear guys

that's probably the strongest argument you can make saying that any potential rigging or fraud is not going to make a difference really!

like i've heard that one already a ton, "how could biden win when everything else is going against him in the races?!"
it's like yeah, true, that's weird. but happens. if they were gonna rig, they'd have rigged for some more senate seats to take it, not come really close to losing the house, not have 24 states with both executive and legislative branches in GOP control in a redistricting year.

like the latest i've seen that seems to stick is the rigging is due to software and Dominion. ...but if it were software, wouldn't they be taking more of everything else?

i think you asked why they're targeting Michigan yesterday and i'd say that's one reason why: Antrim County went from +4000~ Biden to +2500 Trump due to a software issue. said software is supposedly used in 47 MI counties and a number of states. ultimately they're going for a hand recount and audit, which is basically what Georgia is doing.

as usual, there's a little bit of truth and then it goes from there. true part: company does have leadership with heavy ties to Dems, including the head of security, who was very anti-trump.

however the most important part is the name of that head of security: Eric Coomer.
elections come and go but meme magic is forever.

Georgia's recount is actually an audit (basically) mandated by law

Technically they can choose any race, but of course they'd choose the presidential one. Also because it's actually an audit they normally just choose a random sample of ballots to confirm that the winner is correct, but the closer the margin the more ballots you need to count for a fixed certainty of the sample winner matching the actual winner. Because they'd need, iirc, like a sixth of all ballots to be randomly selected, which would be costly, they decided they might as well just do a full recount.

Oh it's very easy for the courts to do nothing about that. Because the Constitution doesn't give them jurisdiction to hear that kind of case. That authority is given to Congress. I think it's actually a pretty clear cut case that the courts do not have jurisdiction.

The equivalent in the UK would be, prior to the Fixed Terms Parliaments Act passing*, the Queen walking into the House of Commons and announcing that Parliament is dissolved and the Prime Minister is fired. Legally speaking the Parliament and courts had no power to stop the Queen from exercising her lawful powers as monarch.

*This may be the situation again, if the FTPA has been repealed, as the conservatives were saying they would do. Not sure if it's gone through yet, or if it has, if the portion of the FTPA taking away the monarch's power to dissolve Parliament at will has been included in the repeal.

There's a statute that Congress passed that says that if the House and Senate disagree, whichever set of electoral votes certified by the state's governor controls. But I think there's a good argument that that statute is itself unconstitutional, as the Constitution clearly gives sole power to choose electors to the legislatures, and doesn't give any authority to the governors.

Supposing that SCOTUS finds that statute unconstitutional, and the House and Senate deadlock, I guess the next question is whether the House has to vote on a new President. If they do, they would vote 1 vote per state so Trump would win. But supposing the Democrats flee DC and try to deny the House a quorum? I think the Senate chooses the Vice President, so they vote for Pence as VP (or, if this is all planned before the electors vote, at least one of the R electors switches his VP vote from Pence to Trump and the Senate can vote for Trump as VP directly).

Then inauguration day comes without a new President, so the newly elected Vice President (either Trump or Pence depending on how well this is planned) becomes President.

But this is all so antithetical to our democratic tradition that it's hard to imagine this working. Much like the Queen dissolving Parliament and ruling from the throne.

If you want to entertain the idea that Dominion has rigged the election, you are already accepting the framework of a machiavellian elite that is fully capable of covering it's own ass by making it seem unlikely that they have rigged the election. In addition, a divided government provides guarantee that the Democrats will not be expected to govern in an overtly left wing manner, which is not something that any of the people involved with Dominion would want.

I don't think that is what happened, I think people were just sick of Trump's shit and voted GOP for senate because they also didn't like what the Dems were offering, but it is very easy to explain away that argument if you believe the vote was rigged.

You are straight up lying about what she said. There wasnt enough food for more than 1/3rd of the poll workers, and when food vans came in the middle of the night there was no food on them. People were justifiably annoyed given many were working a 24 hour day.

Actually, she just makes a guess that they didn't have food on them. She says she doesn't know what was on the vans, just that "they weren't big enough to have food for 2/3rds of the people on them."

First she says the vans didn't have food taken out of them. Then she admits she didn't actually see/doesn't know. Then she makes her guess that it wasn't food based on the size of the vans, which is... Dumb:

I'm so much more concerned with the future of our country in the bigger picture than I am with anything electoral at this point. Well, that and what the most cultist Trump supporters may will attempt come inauguration day.

It's heartwarming to see some people on social media at least try to reach out to the other side, like seeing some of my extended family members trying to bridge the divide on facebook or explain their point of view. Inevitably they all wind up in shouting matches, but it's usually from someone else who barged in and said some hateful shit. And guess what, it's always the culture war shit. The super rich succeeded in dividing America through the culture war. It's utterly disgusting. My stepbrother, a good man I lived with for some time, thinks the democratic party is the most corrupt thing ever in U.S. history and says this of course as a GOP supporter. Says they need to pay. If Trump did hire stooges for faithless electors, he and people like him would call it Trump saving America; it's so sad.

The super rich would not ever even want an actual civil war. It would not be in their interests. It barely even makes sense for the GOP right now to go along with Trump's insanity.

Basically what I am saying is Maynard was right. Giant Meteor 2020 actually should have won the U.S. election.

sorry for the rant, worried about America

This is why Im not remotely concerned when they say they have a ton of affidavits or whatever else. How much does the average person know about the election process? How closely has anyone looked at anything before this year?

now forget about what the average person knows, because Trump has riled up the absolute dumbest assholes in the country. Theyre all convinced something illegal happened, so now theyre all just trying to reverse engineer how whatever they experienced could have been bad.

So, while insomnia browsing, i ended up on the website for a candidate for Texas governor in 22, and i'll just leave this here without comment:

"Feeling rejected at every turn, he embraced the goth culture. Dressing goth gave him the experience of being outside of acceptable culture and he began to be targeted by police. He was subjected to many random stops, told he was speeding or driving erratically when he wasnt, and was even harassed by police at school. He was stopped for not having a hall pass and then falsely charged with resisting arrest and assaulting an officer. Without first asking for compliance, the officer decided to tackle Patrick. Out of instinct, Patrick stepped back which caused the officer to fall on the floor instead of on Patrick, and the officer broke his wrist. The officer of course blamed this on a high school student who had never once touched him. These experiences taught him first hand, that while there are many good police officers, there are also corrupt ones. He saw how appearance affects how police treat you and understood that he was privileged enough to be able to change the way he dressed to escape persecution. He understands the plight of darker skinned people, who will be targeted by some just for the color of their skin, an attribute that is a part of them and unchangeable. "
