I just got through a section where Papyrus boss Undyne was chasing me but caught a fanboy instead.

I got stuck on an optional piano puzzle because I severely overthought what I was supposed to do

Very impressed with the music above all else

Have I made a mistake trying to spare monsters? Sometimes things get pretty hard. Im aware that the ending changes based on how much you kill, I think. So far Ive only killed Toriel because I couldnt figure out how to spare her.

Papyrus > Sans at least so far

You can spare or kill however much you want, its up to you. Who you do or dont kill does affect the ending but the first time you play through the game you will always get roughly the same major events so it doesnt matter as much.

Yeah just do what you want on your first playthrough with regards to kill/spare, the game requires multiple anyways and it's pretty short and easy to do so

Ok I would like a spoiler on one thing

At the beginning when Toriel leaves, is it possible to wait long enough for her to come back?

I waited in that room for 30 minutes or so. She kept chasing a dog who stole her phone but the dialogue never looped so Im curious how long that goes on for

The battles are abstract enough that its hard to say

Like when the buff seahorse flexes and it hurts me, is that a reflection of I am being harmed by witnessing the size of his muscles or is it meant to be that he is actually physically attacking me

The enemies are generally trying to actually kill you if thats what you're asking, even with these ridiculous attacks.

There are definitely some where they are not intending to cause harm to you, but their actions hurt you nonetheless

I think the fun of the pacifist run is relearning all the enemies, and in that sense, it's better to kill random encounters just for the experience (both in game and real life)

You literally have to beat the game at least twice if you want to get the "real" ending, so don't worry about your first run. Just play as you deem fit.

The ending is different, but you can play again for a better one; Toby Fox really thought out the different endings and imo screwing up the first time and then getting it right is a satisfying arc.

I screwed up on Toriel too; imo youre low key supposed to and then get gun shy the rest of the game.

Toriel is a tutorial in all aspects of the game; puzzles, interactions.. and I would imagine for most first time players, an object lesson on what happens when things go bad you will have in the back of your mind for the rest of the game. Very thorough!

I agree that a lot of the monsters are out to kill you; turning the other cheek when someone just insults you is easy.. how easy is it when they try to kill you? Not so much.

Huh, I held out long enough to eventually figure out how to spare Toriel. I guess that's not all that common!

The atmosphere in that first area of the game is so great. I wish the entire game were like that.

He really is great, I agree. Everyone is all about Sans but imo hes even funnier.

No spoilers but once you get someones phone number call them on every single screen for unique dialogue on an amazingly high number of places, like nearly everywhere. @Jakyl25

I noticed every time Asgore killed me, I could tell him how many times he killed me! I thought maybe pushing that count to 7 would do something but it did not.

Final time was a little over 500 minutes

I would say about an hour of that is combined waiting for Toriel at the beginning and getting stuck at that Piano puzzle

Neutral ending has a lot of different variations depending on what you do. I got King Papyrus
