You just have to dodge one cycle by going right then left in the same rhythm every time and you can easily hit the attack button.

The real issue is when you have to heal because it will start your cursor on Item your next turn.

I have resorted to foolmos save file editing to give myself the Max HP (111 to start the fight, 99 once youve dropped below 100), 8 butterscotch pies, and the Temmie Armor which due to its heal 1HP every other turn property is good for a free full heal when Sans is pretending to spare you

Had the genocide ending with the original Fallen Human. Definitely was not worth all the trouble with Sans.

Regardless, that's part of the point. Genocide is a direct examination of the player. Very few people will ever find it without doing a Pacifist run first and getting the good ending, which means that to even start a Genocide run you have to go against Flowey's wishes and erase the miracle happy ending everyone managed to achieve. The game world constantly tells you not to go the Genocide route, both literally and through things like towns being evacuated and the music changing. Papyrus asks you to stop, Undyne gets an anime powerup to try and stop you, Sans puts you through hell to get you stop. The game refuses to reward you for all that needless bloodshed. You're not given you a big dramatic ending - after finishing off the last two living creatures, control is taken from you and the game abruptly ends. Why should the player expect anything different? Literally no one else in the game wanted them to do this. And the only reason the player did it in the first place is because of curiosity. Sans explicitly lays this out for you.

i know your type. you're, uh, very determined, aren't you? you'll never give up, even if there's, uh... absolutely NO benefit to persevering whatsoever. if i can make that clear. no matter what, you'll just keep going. not out of any desire for good or evil... but just because you think you can. and because you "can"... ... you "have to".

I think that's what makes Genocide as impactful as it is. It's the purest expression of player choice I've ever seen in a game.

Also, after doing Genocide, you can no longer get a true Pacifist ending. The game remembers.

Yeah narratively speaking KP nails why the anticlimax there works. But the gameplay reward is supposed to be the fight itself - even though it's framed as a punishment, the new fights are just rad as shit. Weirdly enough by using a save editor you've probably arrived at a different version of unsatisfying than playing the game normally or by watching a video, both of which the creator intended.

Eh, you missed out on the end of the fight which is the best part really.

But yeah, how you handle the Sans fight is really the conclusion of the run. We were desperate enough to edit the save file and I see that as a totally legitimate option that Toby also anticipated. Flowey's whole thing is editing save files anyway.

I wasn't trying to say that's invalid either I'm just musing that the narrative probably doesn't plan for skipping the fight in the way that it DOES plan for people watching an LP
